Hi recently I've been noticing that I had bit less HP than some barbs, or rather vit. They had only make 10 or 15 more but it was noticable. A friend told me that i put too much to my str, because I thought that for example i needed 242 str CLEAN without any gear on that adds extra str to wear the axes. My question is, should I just get clean str and dex for my axes and then just use my gear as the extra str and dex or use my armor and ornaments to get the extra str and dex just to use the axes and such, so i can dump as much points into vit. Also, I'm a tank barb and leaning toward a sage so not sure if that lil str off and on wud make a diff in my dmg input. Please Help. b:surrender

My advice is read around the barb forums as much as possible. Vit based barbs are kind of on their way out unless you plan on mostly just being a TW cata puller. Sage is also becoming increasingly less popular and alot of people are paying to switch to demon.

So, you need (with gear) 3 str for axe/level and .5 dex/level for axes.

Times you've leveled (your level minus 1) x 3 str + initial 5 stat points

    (lvl-1) x 3 str + 5 = strength required

    (lvl-1) x .5 dex + 5 = dex required (round up)

(lvl-1) x 1.5 stats = stats leftover(round down). These are what you have to play with, as well as any gear stats you can count on like a tome giving you 4 strength. I recommend leaning towards a more damage heavy build and getting your hp from refines. Alot of the vitality barbs realize they can't hold aggro after 85+, qq, rage, quit. So, refines are your friends. TT runs now give fairy boxes for more refining.
Seven 100+ characters leveled the hard way. Free to play. Mystic, Psychic, and Wizard left to level. b:victory

    Sage barb here...

Don't worry about HP so much. It will come later whether through refines or shards, or gear bonus.

No such thing as "too much strength." Since strength helps you hit harder and thus gives you a bit more aggro ability. Barbs already get the highest hp per vit point and hp per level. There are some endgame barbs with lower hp than mine (21979 buffed/tiger) and some with much more. It's all in how you play the game.

As long as you can equip level appropriate equipment, your build is probably fine. Concentrate on having fun, playing well within the squad, and keeping your cleric(s) alive. Do this and everyone will want you for squad, regardless of your HP.

Okay thanks for the advice b:victory
However, if I decide to go demon should I still put enough strenght to get better aggro and leave the HP mostly to refines and shards, or will the crits and demon true form will be enough to hold better aggro, therefore allowing me to add bit more vit into my build rather than if I was going sage?

It really depends upon what you plan on doing with your toon. If you want to forsake vit points and refine/shard well (+7 or better/Vit & mdef gems) then that will be fine. Your best bet is to follow gear requirements for your level, and once you finish your demon culti, decide then. If you stay within the general guidelines of a "typical" barb build, you can restat a few vit points into str or dex without much of a problem.
