Veno's are no longer the pro solo class. They're slow as hell compared to the APS craze. :P Sure at level 100 or so we could solo frost like the sins, but it'd take us like 3 times longer with a considerably higher cost in terms of pots, genie energy, etc.
Saying that though, people are starting to realise the value of the veno Amplify in nirvana, so our popularity will soon grow again![SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

I never left behind my veno. This is still my only character that's level 100 and the character I mainly play.Main characters

Cause venos are useless without nix and hercules and most of the people don't want to spend a ridiculus ammount of money for buy then, or don't have the guts for cheat.0

I Spoke 2 lvl 95 veno w/ herc, nix she qute her veno bc of gear... so i may think most quite bc don't have r8-9. xD so i don't think its about herc/nix. X_X who knows...so many reasons[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

i dont think its really about hercs/nix. i think it mainly has been dieing slowly overtime with the gradual increase of sins we see also. and also the earthguards coming out is another thing to "blame." I know im guity as charged since i left my veno to play my mystic. I love my veno and ive been playing it now recently. ive gotten rank 8 and trying to reach 101 now. im having fun with it again. i hope that others will come to their senses and see that venos still play a role in this game and maybe get back to their old veno characters :P maybe they just need a break like i did.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

ehh? Is the veno extermination next since the barbs got wiped out? b:shocked jk
I think I see a lot less.. barbs/venos/wiz now..
Did a few frost runs on an alt the other day.. most squads were cleric, bm sin sin sin >_>
Most people play sins and bms now it seems. Obvious reasons why...
The veno class is fun to me, but when I run BH on my alt it makes me never want to invite venos again... I dont mind if those few who never amp or bramble or send a spark when you ask reroll b:bye
Also... I see a lot of venos AFK in south but not as many at PvP hotspots.. then again most of those are overrunning with sins. (and I havent really visited those in a while so I'm not sure)
Yeah, maybe there were a few more 'active' venos before.. when people still called nix/herc OP. Now I have gotten people who say they havent squaded with a veno b:sweat[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Well, I think most people that played Venomancer back then was because they wanted to have a character to farm, similarly to how many people try to make APS Assassins these days. I remember, a couple of months after joining, I would see so many Venomancers around. I ended up having my friend's list with 70% Venomancers even up to this day xD Everyone you'd ask they would have a Venomancer alt.
Simply put, the new farming character is the APS Assassin (or Blademaster). I don't really mind if one goes APS but it kinda sucks when you get forced to play a certain class ( that you might not even enjoy) just to be able to support your main character(s). However, this was the case with Venomancer pre-APS era.
I'd also like to add the fact that indeed a lot of Venomaners also don't know how to play the class to its full potential. Either that or they are simply lazy. Therefore, the other classes don't get to see the value of a Venomancer in squad (besides the ability of the Hercules or Phoenix in PK) so they assume/come to the conclusion that they are better off without them.

In Heavens Tear i see quite a lot of venos tbh. Good thing is that they are all good or nearly good , so i guess the bad ones moved to make Mystics or APS class. Lately i see some small increase in wizards on Random BH squads , most are powerlvl characters , but they do their job just fine.
I see less and less Archers in HT , that is sad.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

this.
I've talked to my sin friends who are nirv slaves/spammers/ farmers whatever...they can survive without a cleric but a squad without a veno in nirv is unthinkable for them. Makes their run a lot faster with sage amp.
Though I still am a bit miffed when I found that not only is a veno discriminated for not having a herc but also for not having the right culti? What is wrong with demon skills in nirvy?0 -
To be honest, on Lost City it does feel like I'm seeing the same old venomancers over and over again. I'm beginning to remember their names, builds, the fash they're wearing... ._.
Borderline insane?

I am personally going demon. I already have a lvl 100 sage venomancer only to realise that I didn't like sage all that much. (That and endgame bores the **** off me.) So I acc stashed my lvl 100 hercules and now levelling up a new light armor, demon veno. If those fat tards complain about my demon amp, well they can go....

They're a little less populace than they were, at least on Archosaur. But that's about it really. I still see plenty of venos, though granted, many don't see them as any good without a herc.
Which based on my 35 levels of my own veno, I disagree with. Yes I think a herc is better because of his skills, but Tassadar (my Glacial Walker) is serving me just fine.
Anyway, Mystics are chewing at them, but they are by no means endangered. And from what I understand, even 5 APS sins still chew through a lot of crab meat, pots, and other things when soloing. Not to mention whatever gear repairs they no doubt incur, and always fail to mention. So I highly doubt they're any cheaper in that regard.
The only reason APS has taking over farming is time. After you've seen a high lv sin swat the drum god in about ten seconds, you understand that argument quite well. Unless I'm mistaken, even the best of venos can't match that kind of damage. People are impatient. They'll go for quick over economical every time these days."Impatience walks with disaster." My own phrase.

All casters are a dying breed. They need to tweak -chaneling gear so it gives a damage bonus so it has value like -int gear. If they made this simple little change there would be a massive revival of casters.0

A tweak like this would cause severe imbalance in TWs and PVP, much like instant-channelling mages.
Yes, I know, APS is a huge imbalance. Doesn't stop wizards from 1shotting an entire group of APSers. (assuming of course... they survive the initial hit..)[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Their blood paint buff (particularly if Sage Sin) takes care of most of the HP needs for soloing Sins while (being an auto attacking class using little skills just spark) their MP needs tend to be fairly negligible. Its not just "time" taken to farm instances which which has allowed Sins to wrench the title of PWI farmer away from Venos. Its efficiency too.
Sins in TT can just stealth pass all the mobs that Venos and every other class has to fight through and go straight for the bosses which incidentally saves on pots and herbal food too.0 -

I agree with this in principle but I will also point out that during 2x drop events where aps squads get together in 3-4 man groups, Venos around that time catch even more hell than usual trying to get into Nirvana. No way those uber Sin/BM squads are going to invite an amp/purging Veno just to shave off a couple minutes from the 7 or so minutes it will take them to blast through Nirvy.0 -

I play a veno from time to time, and yea, I don't have the best command of Veno skills in squad situations because it is getting harder and harder to find squads that need/want a veno at mid level (80). I end up grinding and doing Divine Contracts, and quests to level most of the time. So my grinding skills are excellent but my squad skills are rusty as hell. It takes hours to find a BH squad if you miss the one or two that come up at prime time. I am lucky to run 1 or two BHs a week now. At lower levels I could find BH squads all the time, but once people get into the 70s and 80s they abandon it. So how does one find FC squads as a Veno in 80s level? My faction barely has 3 people level 80 or above.
The frequency of participating in the old school type squads is rapidly approaching zero for new venos. The original design of this game, and that which 99% of the existing quests and calls to duty are based on, is no longer operable.
As others have pointed out, it's power-level (using cash shop tools) to 100, with one of the new OP races, and then futz around with several other OPs wiping endgame instances for better gear.Just some guy0 -
brazenbusboy wrote: »it is getting harder and harder to find squads that need/want a veno at mid level (80).
Totally agree. Actually it is more like they *might* accept a Veno if they already have Cleric, DD and Tank.
The best way to find a squad for BH as a Veno, is to form the squad yourself. But even then it usually takes quite a while to find a Cleric or Tank which is somewhat essential for BH69. BH79 can be soloed slowly by a Herc Veno. Or... make a party of 6 Venos for BH79.
Or, just follow the craze and level up a Sin b:chuckle0 -
I dont play near as much as i used to, only a few times a week so i decided to only play one character when I'm on. The veno was my choice.
One major probelm is, I cant seem to get an invite to FC at all now.
Some barbs used to like the pet to save on repairs and brable skill and sparks. Some sins used to love apm damage for bosses to see how fast they could kill it. I guess no one sees the benifit of those skills any more. Or maybe they all been replace with simular better skills for other classes
I have been 95, 96 level for months and i may never make it to 97, as it looks now, with no FC invites, unless i can grind it up from 30%. That could take awhile
I have a 90 barb but its a back bencher charatec with averge gear at best and i am only a average barb player so i dont really like to play barb that much. I may have to dust it off and get familiar with it again just to get some action in FC.0 -
I've gone back to City of the Lost on my server and I've seen a LOT more venos!(counting me!)I guess the population of Venos is going up! But I have seen more sins and psychics at the Tideborn starting place then venos at the Untamed starting place along with more seekers and mystics at their starting place. Then again, this is Genesis with new Earthguards and the last big patch was Rising Tide with the Tideborn, so I guess that's what to expect with patches that have new races!0

Yea, there is usually a bunch of new venos running around Lost which goes to show that this game has a lot of appeal and Venos look like a fun class to play.
The thing is that after a few weeks of not being able to complete their FBs and cultis, due to the end of leveling up the old school way, they quit never to be seen again.
You see tons of new ones with Wolves, and Scorpians, but then you start to see fewer and fewer past level 16-30 with Walkers, and then by the time you hit the 80s, they are really thinned out, with cash-shopped Hercs starting to outnumber casual players with Walkers.
In my whole PW career I can think of only a couple of times where there were more than 2 venos in a team over level 30.
Even with a Herc, Venos just don't have a fit, with the current end game design which favors OP Sins that killl stuff faster than teams and get self healed in the process.
An yes I tried rolling a Sin, the single most boring toon I have ever played. Totally dependent on stats, no skill involved other then swiping the credit card.
Sins are totally defined by their gear. Most faceroll class I have ever played. If you try to play one with what you get in drops and stash box, they are totally wimpy. It looks like the only way to level one is to spend tons of cash for power leveling and gear.
It's performance is so totally based on gear boosted stats, such that they are pretty useless unless you are prepared to spend the equivalent of a new Gibson Les Paul and a matching Marshall stack just to be viable. That does not appeal to me. I like venos because it takes some skill and practice to know what your pet can and cannot do and to know what you can do to help a team. With the exception of static Boss fights, they can pretty much hold their own against most mobs 10 or so levels above their own. But that is pretty much worthless, I spent an hour killing mobs 10 levels above my veno the other night and barely moved the experience bar a single notch. Without teams the only way to level now is these awful fly back and forth x times and kill x mobs type quests, so my solo mob killing is finely honed. I know which mobs higher than me I can kite and which ones that can't be kited. But that's pretty useless in teams and instances.
But thanks for the offer. I might give you a call, I stuck trying to find help taking down the Wraith Herder.Just some guy0
