Mixed Venomancer Build- For venos looking for a less Squishy build. <3

I just want to add my two cents worth here...
HA venos get ALOT of hate.
So I'd just like to point some things out..
Firstly: Half a veno's damage should be their pet. So even if you nerf your damage, you still have decent.
Secondly: The is several KINDS of HA venos. HA doesn't make someone fail or pro. The capacity to look at your class and utilize it to achieve its full potential and fit the player's style is what makes or breaks a character.
I've played venomancers for a LONG time, and at 8x I decided to change builds on Fire. I was sick of being squishy. So I surfed venomancer build threads for awhile, and found one mention in all of them of the build I've come to adore. Its reffered to as a "Mixed Build". No, this is not LA. Its not really HA, or AA either. Its the ability to wear HA, AA, and use a mag wep. At end game I will be able to wear both TT99 HA and AA. I'll be using the 95 Lunar Glaive, but could use a 100 TT wep if I wanted.
I found a stats and gear calculater online and worked otu my stats at level 100, geared correctly:
41.6k Phys def, 7-13.8 or more mag def (depending on if you want to have 2 sets of orns aswell), 19.8k hp, 8.2-10.5k mag atk + 7.6-8.3k phys atk in HA, or 11.6-14.2k mag atk + 6.5-7.3k phys atk in AA. Fully buffed, unsparked.
I've already found I canout-tank some barbs, and ofc still out-DD them too. (not pro ones ofc). But its just insane. Add to the dmg a nix, or the def a herc.. And you're effing scary.
How do you pull off the build? +str/dex/mag gear, orns. Best way is a high level tome.
This is NOT a cheap build. Infact, its probably one of the most expensive, hence why I went sage, so I can Nirvana to help pay for things.
And to those who say HA venos *have to* use claws or axes. BS. Our atk is high enough without it if you use a glaive or sword. Just stay away from wands.
So yeah.
If you wanna be HA, wait till a high level (at LEAST 60+) and then do it! If it suits you, then gogogo.
Venomancers are so FTW when built right.

tl;dr: OP went HA/A and liked it.0

The adjustment to HA on my first veno when I switched her was interesting. I could do things normal AA venos could not in terms of survivability, tanking, and pulling, but all in all, the best part about the tl;dr is that OP likes it. If a player can enjoy HA/AA, manage it well, and be useful to a squad, then that's quite a bonus. Everybody wins.0

Yeah. I love being HA or AA. If I'm in a good squad I tend to go AA so as to have better damage, but several times now in fc the barb died, and I went Fox Form, used apha male and crab meat and saved the cleric and some other squad members lives.
In pvp using HA and human form skills on HA wearers (barbs, bms, sins, seekers, archers even), so that they can't kill me as fast, but I can still take advantage of their weak spots, or AA and Fox form for other arcane classes, so that I have better arcane deffence, and I hit pretty hard in physical.
Its pretty awesome. b:chuckle"It's not about dying for your guild, its about making the other **** die for his" - "If you play with Fire, you're gunna get Burnt" - "I will not bow, I will not break, I'll shut the world away, I will not fall, I will not fake, I'll take your breath away" - "There's a fine line between Love & hate" - "Never gonna give you up, Never gonna let you down, Never gonna run around and desert you, Never gonna make you cry, Never gonna say goodbye, Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you" -Rick Rolled. b:chuckleb:victory0 -
HA ftw! b:victory
The funny thing is I'm HA now only cause I messed up my stats back when I was 3x b:surrender
Was LA... phys mobs killed me.. mag mobs killed me..
So I just wore AA after 4x, but I had added a ton of str cause of this HA quest reward I had gotten b:chuckle Also back when I started I wanted to be pure fox but that never worked out.. eventually I learned to utilize both forms. (lean slightly more towards caster now) my build didnt start working out for me until 6x when I had enough mag for TT60 weap, -req HA armour and +stat ornaments I had found in AH. The damage was done by then so I went with it. I dont think I could ever be pure AA now even though I considered restatting a few times.
by now I meet the requirements for any weap 300 mag or lower and any HA 252str/56dex and lower. Not like I'm rich enough for NV or r8 though b:cry
Overall I think this is a fun build.. but it is expensive to be really good. Though at this point I'd rather improve on what I have then restat to a cookie cutter veno b:shutup[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
There is no shame in losing when there is no honor in winning.0 -
this build is nothing new... but i decided to do it as well about a month or so ago.
i am HA (TT90 only though xD) and mix it with AA also when needed, while wearing the rank 8 magic staff.
was LA before. Not only do I have more p.def than I did when I was LA, but also more m.def when I am wearing my arcane armor too. more HP, and my attack is the same as when I was LA. This build was defiantly a very good choice I made for my veno.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

A long time ago on this toon (like mid-2009) I weighed all the details and decided to go full-vit AA over HA, but I always thought playing HA would be fun (I'll be moving vit to magic as I now get my endgame gear to higher refine, and eventually be pure magic AA).
My question to any HA users into high-end TW/pvp is how useful do you find being an HA veno now with the 5.0 aps and sins around?
Back in the day my understanding was that the HA veno was great because it was a lot harder for BMs, Barbs and Archers to kill you, while you had the nix (back when it was still a god) to tear through arcane classes. But I imagine now that 5.0 classes can just rip through HA venos (since they rip through Barbs) and the lower mdef makes HA venos an easy kill for r8 arcanes (I know you can switch between AA and HA, but in a TW when being attacked by multiple classes switching easily isn't really an option)
I guess my summarizing question is that with 5.0 and the new classes, is the advantage of HA pdef defense over full AA diminished to the point that you might as well go for higher magic attack in a pvp focused toon? Any experienced HA veno TWers/pvpers care to weigh in?0 -

Most people are going to strongly (ignorantly) support the decisions they made. What do the devs think? - Rank gear for veno is arcane. What about AoE? - clearly favors Arcane. 1-1 is arguable; with most people being ignorant to a range DD's advantages. What's not as easy to argue is whether a veno is a good melee DD or a good range/mag DD compared to other classes.
Building stats to be less squishy is just building cheap: use equips / upgrades to obtain your goals.0 -
I went heavy/arcane on my old sage veno. At first I loved the survivability but my m.atk had taken quite a punch. She was using tt99 heavy chest & pants and tt99 arcane wrists & boots with a +9 neon purgatory. Still, I lost a good couple of k's mag attack.
This veno, Olessia, is light armored and whilst her attack isn't as high as my old one (who was vit/arcane prior to restat) I feel as though the odd crit here and there almost makes up for it.
I like light armor, suits my playstyle, I'm a happy bunny. I don't plan on ever getting rank 9, my endgame goal is a full set of 2nd cast nirvana LA.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
Idea stolen from Negreiros - Sanctuary, sorry! b:surrender0 -
eh yea, u get owned by 5.0 sins and such, but i suppose its not as fast as it is for an arcane XD
it really depends on tactics. if you can manage to kite them you may have a chance. but with sins invisible pop out and stuns and all that jazz its nearly impossible to kite them.
on barbs i have found myself a lot better survival wise with my HA compared to my LA. i was loving that i havnt gotten much action with a bm so cant say much there.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
