ok so i'm ready to go get my foxwing but want to increase pet bag first.start looking for hay and discover for whatever reason all the hay has disappeared and what is around is going for 35,000+.so i say **** this i'll get my own.go to wiki and find that the abyssal mystery listed as the premier hay dropper in the game .I find the abyssal is lvl34 and i'm lvl33 so should still get a good drop rate.besides my highlands tortoise needs to be leveled.the results after leveling my tortoise from 26-32 killing abyssals dq only-9-rubybead-26 dew of herbs and 17 hay.while doing this i do not see a single other player farming.this leads me to the strong suspicion that the abyssal is not the premier hay dropper in the game as the wiki says it is.now i don't plan to be a hay farmer but is does make me curious.anybody care to divulge where the hay is really coming from or is this to remain a deep dark secret?and if wiki is inaccurate on this how much more does the wiki get wrong?

Abyssal Mystery does have the highest droprate for Hay in the game.

Just because there wasn't anyone else there when you were there doesn't mean no one else does it.

Heck, with prices like that, it could be that they farmed those Hay six months ago.

It IS the best source, but most grind Antelope Pups for convenience. And that's the ones that bother to grind hay since most players in general will eventually either just buy cages/super cages. Assuming, of course, they bother with the pet bag extensions. As far as questing goes, most don't bother with the quest that requires Hay because the rewards are nowhere near worth the expenses.

Actually, the fact that most people aren't around level 34, that the drop rate gets lower for the higher levels, plus that there are better ways for high levels to make coins, not to mention that they're scattered across a large chunk of the river south of Archosaur, and what truekossy said about Antelope Pups, are the main reasons why you didn't see any other hay farmers there.

keep in mind the drop rate for the fish dropping hay is 12% so approximately one in 10 mobs (on average) will drop a hay

Actually, the drop rate appears to have increased for all hay-dropping mobs. The abyssal mystery drops it almost a quarter of the time now.
