Left-Handers Not Welcome?

I downloaded the game, installed it, then went to configure the keys to play... okay, game tells me the forward arrow is SYSTEM mapped, the back arrow is SYSTEM mapped, as a left handed player I can't (won't) play as right-hander. I've never seen a game where you could not remap the movement keys to accommodate a a player who uses the mouse in left hand and force them to use left to move.

I may be wrong or ignorant of some way of remapping for a leftie, but regardless, mapping arrows to system functions is like getting in a car and finding out the steering wheel is the brake and you can't change it.

    Does your keyboard not have a number pad? If so why not just use that? o_O

    Wouldn't moving the keyboard all the way to the right accomplish the same thing?

    The inability to re-map actions to the arrow keys has nothing to do with being left or right handed. Certain keys are reserved for special purposes, but the vast majority are free to use however you please.

    So if you're a lefty, remap movement to the keypad, and voila! Problem solved! And really, why wouldn't you use the keypad and have a bunch of other keys at your fingertips too, rather than just the arrows?

    But of course, if your real goal is to pretend you're a victim of a horrible conspiracy against lefties (even though I know righties who actually prefer to use arrow keys to move for some unknown reason), and thus you're itching to find something to get morally indignant about, then that solution won't work for you.

    Press K and you can change the keys to what you want

    I use also the left hand and im fine with the conrols.

    I use the left hand for the mouse and do all movement with it and with the right hand i use jump and all important skills on hotkeys. Unless youre in TT Episode 1 you never need to move with cursor keys.

    This game is FAR from being unable to be played left handed, just adapt.

    I've never been sure what left and right are for, but up and down keys are for flight/water movement.

    While this might be a silly oversight on the developers part in not allowing those keys to be remapped, this is far from a conspiracy against lefties. And this is coming from someone who is left-handed and plays with no problem at all.

    no... this is like you getting into a car to find the steering wheel is the steering wheel and the brake is the brake, you just want to make it so when you turn the wheel left you brake and when you press the brake you fly... b:bye

    I never had any problems with playing this game WITHOUT changing the mapping on ANY of the keys.

    I don't understand what difference it makes. You do realize everyone uses both hands to play? Just tried using the mouse with my left hand and I can do so just fine.

    pssh, you could play this game with nothing but a mouse for the most part. The hotkeys still work if you click on em, definitely not ideal if you really want to use a keyboard but i fail to see why you can't play this game over that tiny detail.

    Click to run FTW. I never use the movement keys; too much of a pain having just a touchpad and no mouse.

    You can use any hand to click with the mouse, and put it wherever you want. Ijs.

    I'm a lefty. However, my right hand is fully functional and is able to work a mouse. I'd recommend you get used to it. Think of it like scissors, or a guitar: sure you can get a special "lefty" version, but then you won't be able to use anyone else's setup. Leftys pride themselves on their ability to adapt!

    If you happen to be Jimi Hendrix, ignore this advice and do whatever the hell you want.

    Agreed.

    One of the few things nice this game has is ease of movement. Ive tried playing some games where you HAD to use hotkeys for movement and they drove me crazy. I love the mouse movement in PW.

    im left handed too and for me the key setting was okay in the pve part. Left hand mouse (for moving by click) right hand for F1 - F8. Used tab to switch F Hotkeys. Worked fine so far.

    When it comes to pvp, i had some trouble with my key setting, cause much more hotkeys are needed for action.

    I tried to put the important things to keypad 1-9 with the "->" to switch to 2nd or 3rd row.
    F1 - F8 i click by mouse.

    After a few hours/days it worked fine for me.

    I'm left handed but my mouse has always been more comfortable in my right....


    Even at work my personal setup is set to mostly left handed actions (it is very rare to see anyone in my line of work carrying items left handed, even the training is geared around being right handed and right side dominant). Left handed drop leg and custom left handed stag ar. But I can use right handed if I needed to. Its called adaptation. Just one of the many challenges of learning and playing a new game.


    As for key binds I set mine up a certian way so I don't have to look at my keyboard and then corrected some things over time (for example genie pull next to assasin knife throw wrong button and killed the whole team... ok time to rearrange)


    I showed a freind of mine my set up for my archer and he claims he copied it exactly... Yet I have used his toon and it was completely different I didn't know what I was doing.

    What keys are u trying to use anyway... You can change the wasd keys to anything that will suit you. If I were left handed I guess I would change wasd to something more to the right and put main skills and action from 0-6 (inverse) and f8 to f5

    I don't get why you can't adapt.

    What left hander uses there mouse in there left hand lol? I'm left handed and i don't do that neither does any other left handed person i know do ... thats just dumb and creates a lot of uneccessary hastle b:shocked
