The Wizzie forum needs some new guides. We don't need pve advise, lets face it everyoen hypers their wiz to 100-101 and buys gear with an aps char lol. the forum needs a good pvp guide, maybe pvp for beginner wizzies. With all these ppl who just hyper to 100 it really makes wizzies look a lot more fail then they really are.

I'm not some pro wiz who knowes all the answers for pvp tactics and situational stuff. im willing to make a compilation of you guys' tactics/experiences. Would be nice to ahve a compilation of useful genie skills for a wiz. maybe a section telling what genie orns to use and the best amount of magic/vit/dex.

A standard of gear would be a good option to include, maybe starting with 99/r8 gear. How to shard to shard said gear. Probably just some pwcalc's would explain taht part.

im open to any ideas about a guide. mail me in game/post here/what ever.

i can contribute if someone takes initiative (or isn't as swamped with RL obligations as i am), but it seems like more effort than it's worth to try to start compiling tactics from scratch. it's easier to show than tell, so to speak, and if i'm going to help someone understand a class i'd rather show in-game.

Well its not up to one person to contribute everything. its called a compilation for that reason. maybe just tell a few ways you kite bms. like i'll fortify through their first stun and maybe jump and fly when they get near me for a drake bash. that way if i do get stunned they avhe to waste time getting to me. then let the next person explain a trick/tactic vs another class.

just things like that. if we get half of the good wizzies on forums to post a couple of their tricks. we'd have a nice little guide. it doesn't ahve to be something super complicated, just basic stuff that you use. You can't really explain your reflex's i know, but try to think of the simple things that you do that beginners just don't know.

I guess the first thing someone (or all of us) should do is create an outline for what we would want to include in the guide, and then we could add to it (or maybe even create a wiki.. haha). So for ex..

    I. The wizard's role (why we suck in pve)
    II. The build
    ...A. Armor type
    ...B. Sage/Demon
    ...C. Genie
    ...D. etc
    III. Tips and Tricks
    ... etc etc etc

Obviously this is just a rough example, but I'd be willing to contribute if someone wants to organize it a bit :P (our organizer can't be someone **** though.. I think we all know the few I'm thinking about.. kthx)

Looking at the ways to kite a melee class, you can (* indicates genie skills)..

Distance Shrink - 10 second cooldown
    FoW - 18 to 20 second cooldown
    *Fortify - 30 second cooldown + 55 energy
*Badge of Courage - 30 second cooldown + 75 energy
    *Holy path - 1 second cooldown + 75 energy
*wind force - like 15 second cooldown? (not sure) and 40ish energy
    Apoth (vacuity/immune etc) - 2 minute cooldown
Switching from air to ground (or vice versa) - anytime

Other genie skills really aren't worth using to kite.
What I mean by switching from air to ground or ground to air is basically getting on or off a flying mount. So if you and your opponent were both on the ground you could double jump and at the max height.. get on your flying mount. This means that your opponent should not be able to hit you (besides some weak ranged skill), and you can fly out of range. If you were in the air you can just get off your flying mount, which will start moving you out of range and mean you immediately start taking half damage. It doesn't save you 100% of the time, but still improves your chances. You can start playing a bit of a game with your opponent just switching over and over. So say you started on the ground, you double jump to get on your flying mount.. you see your opponent jump into the air and get on their mount, and you get off your mount to go back to the ground. Then they drop back down (so they aren't doing half damage) and you get back in the air. This is really just a delay technique that allows your other skills to come off cooldown, but it's saved me numerous times in the past. Just make sure you don't abuse it, at some point your opponent will figure out what you're doing and get a step ahead of you.. but if used properly, melee opponents should be raging because you are so difficult to catch (or hold still).

No, we don't need new guides for hyper-babies! If they wanted to hyper to 101 without learning how to play their class, let them get chain stunned by a bm half their level and die. Kthxbai!b:bye

I wish hypers werent around when i rerolled mage. I feel like i'd be so better at choosing what skills to use and reaction times with my mage if i leveled the old fashioned way. But lets face it, if the option is there it's silly to go the long route to level if you don't have to.

Besides its so much harder to get a squad for things like fbs/fish parties/etc these days with everyone frosting, its almost impossible to level the old way out of safezone now, not to mention boring since ur the only one there lol.

    My guide

Find an experience or OP gear target, fight them and if you lose, dont give up, keep trying. Once you beat them 3 times in a roll. Find a harder target and repeat.b:victory
A crit from Archer usually hurt but a crit from wiz usually mean death.

Actually Questro is right. Hard pressed to have people get better if they aren`t fighting people better than them.

Btw Sun, did you use a single apoth in that TW? I was looking at that bar a lot and especially in the death clips at the end, not one time did you die with apothecary in cooldown.

So let me get this straight, instead of helping out wizzies in general hyper babies or no. You'd rather just ahve 99% of wizzies suck? nothing gets lvl'd the old fashioned way now, so i'd rather have a guide up so that ppl who actually come to forums for information can benefit from it. Maybe some of the hyper baby wizzies can learn a few basics. i mean most wizzies i see nowadays dont even run away when you seal them.

I liek questro's advice, thats how i learned what i know on my wiz. maybe not 3 wins in a row, but somthign liek that. with the way my gear has been its more of fight them and jsut make sure to survive for longer and longer each fight. now that i ahve decent gear im gettin hard to kill XD.

@Sun_Burn get ahold of some dew of star protection. they are like 15-20k each most of the time. and they add a very nice damage buffer for i think 15secs. good when you see a rather large amount of damage incoming.

    post more helpful stuffz ppl

Honestly no, lol. I hardly ever use pots. I believe with my gear it wouldn't make much of a difference. The only pots I tend to use in TW is instant channel pots depending on the situation. I'll admit im a noob and never really learned when to use what pot in what situation. 'Usually' when I die it's either a 1shot, gank, or a sin I don't see it coming so it's hard for me to know when to pop a dew lol.

i have had dews on the hotbar on the right side of my screen next to vacuitys/immune/instant channel pots for like a year and have never touched them.

Once I learn how to use pots in real TWs hopefully my videos will be even better :3

when ur being ganked or you see your death coming pop a IronguardPowder(make sure to not get stunned by it) or the OH-**-BUTTON SutraPowerOrb to run backwards or if theres nowhere to run, kill as many as possible before you die

working with immunity pots makes your defenses non-factor

i tend to use demon spark to resist death and then AD and IG so i can pew pew for the spark duration; then instantly die after effect is gone ;oo

Call me old fashioned but when i was playing my kiting tactics were my favourite part of being a wizard. Albeit they changed depending which class i was fighting.. but i may be able to share a few just so adroit and nurfed_you aren't alone in this. Keep in mind i havent played in almost 6 months so alot may have changed. I was 100 before hypers and all that good stuff :(

    Sin:
This one was always and probably will always be hit and miss with us. If the sin comes outta stealth double sparked with an apoth pot on your screwed. If he is feeling cocky and wants to try and do it without then i would:

-Domain through the first stun (2 sec stun immunity afterwards)
-Sporophic whisper (pray it isnt cancelled by tidal)
    - then depending on the sin anti stun or dew
    - undine
    -FoW
    -poke (pyro or gush)
    - mountain seize
-hopefully their dead before you have to try and kite...

Tactics are a bit crummy though when the sin AD's or stealths again before u can attack cause now all ur skillz are on CD. Hit or Miss right? anyways that worked for me with sins.

    BM's:
These guys are like hit and run... actually what helped me a toooon with these guys is adroits genie guide, i always had badge but adding fortify was a genius move (thanks adroit!)

so with bm's really it would be poke, distance shrink, poke, Fow, ulti?, poke, whisper, when they get near u for a stun make sure to fortify and send them into the defense... if they do stun you badge out of it and continue on your marry way. Also i liked changing from ground to air or pretending too at least to throw them off. If done correctly the bm should not be able to hold you in one place.

    Barb's:
They used to be sooooo easy :o now they all have a million hp (not really but you get the hint) kite kite kite, bring 'em near half ulti and hope for a bypass, if they dont have unreal hp that is. if so u may have to go old school and tick their charm and hope to kill them in 10... good luck. Barbs was always a war of attrition for me.

    anyone else?
"Know that although in the eternal scheme of things you are small, you are
also unique and irreplaceable, as are all your fellow humans everywhere in the world."

lol marca we use like the same tactics on bm's and on barbs.

my favorite thing to do to bm's and barbs both is to lure them up in the air fall to ground>hailstorm. when it procs it leaves them in a bad spot

mountain press for sins is indeed baller status, for dealing with DN. deaden nerves is the one (1) real reason i will, on rare occasions, ***** about sins. with deaden nerves down, i'd rather fight a sin than most other classes.

I guess the guide could also mention acceleration for flying mounts; I think Adroit used it against Calvin. I had forgotten about this before (and still do sometimes b:surrender).

As others have mentioned, suggest the use of attack and defense charms.

If they are too expensive (in general), perhaps only use attack charms on a bypass attempt.

Pdef charms (I think it was 100 pstones and 50% reduction) help surviving 1shots from stealth. I think they can be used while disabled (seal/sleep/stun) but not too sure...?

Also someone(s) mentioned using windshield and switching to defense blessing to survive charm bypass.

just got back from vacation, I actually started a word document with a bunch of ideas to post.. but my internet was absolute **** (I did a speedtest on my phone.. was like .009/.003 Mbps) lol Anyway it doesn't look like anyone else really got to into this thread, I've got quite a bit as is and I may as well just continue on my own. If I lose interest like I usually do I'll just post what I have, but I'd rather just organize/write it on my own than add a whole bunch of little tid bits and make someone else organize it for me lol
