Are Chienkun Stones worth it to use even if they're on sale?

I wanted to transfer my +10 refinement from my rank 8 weap to rank 9 weap. are they worth it to use?

    Work out price of Chienkuns for transfer and then work out how much it costs to +10 a weapon.

    This may sound like a novel idea, but did you try just putting in your weap to SEE how many it would take?

    Once you have that, it's pretty simple to figure out the cost of gold for the total number of stones. Then you simply compare that to the cost to +10 your bow and you'll have your answer :D

    I heard that you can't even transfer refinements to rank 9 yet. b:shocked Has anyone tried yet?

    ok so i checked with the pwi agent, it says it wud take 250 chienkun stones to transfer so that's 125 gold. it costed me 20+20+20+40.5 (that's wat it costed me to get to +7 cuz i used mirages up to +4) = 100.5 gold to get to +10 on my rank 8 weap. so it's not actually worth it. that sucks

    As far as I know, the only thing that chienkun stone is worth using is to transfer over nirvana sockets/ refines and that is only if they're on sale.

    Will probably take way more than it costs to re-+10 something on something not involving nv transfer. But I believe pwwiki has a page on it, don't be lazy if you wanna find out :)

    I think its a rip off, even if you do save a couple gold to make your new weapon +10, having to start from scratch is better. Its hard for me to explain it, but think of it this way, you pay 100.00 to +10 a weapon right ( and yes I know its more then 100 gold, but I am just saying for example considering the rates), and it will cost 80.00 to transfer your refines. So basically +10ing your new weapon is better cause you still keep +10 on your old gear. Basically what I am saying is, its a rip off, your loosing +10 refines when you don't really see it.

    Its ideal to buy chienkun stones for Nirvana gears when it comes to socket and gem transfer, and in some cases, refines.

    They are worth it, if the conditions are right for you.

    It's worth it if you have something worth using them on... some people care a lot of the double socket 1st/2nd cast weapons, some not so much. For example, I used them on my cv claws > 1st cast claws cause I wanted to keep my 2 g11 garnets (garnets went up a lot in price). And that was without a sale lol.

    Was cheaper for me to 4 socket helm with the socket packs then use cheikuns and my helm came out 2 socket.

    SOCKET PACKS
    Average is 13 sockets per pack and 1 gem every 2,000 packs (.05%)

    2 sockets (10% Chance) on Nirvana:
    20,800 socket stones / 13 per pack = 1,600 packs
    1,600 packs / 10 in a group = 160 groups
    160 groups * 1.25 gold per group = 200 gold

    3 sockets (80% Chance) on Nirvana:
    16,000 socket stones / 13 per pack = 1,230 packs
    1,230 packs / 10 in a group = 123 groups
    123 groups * 1.25 gold per group = 154 gold

    Group one is a 80% chance to contain a gem and group two is a 61.5% chance

    CHEINKUN STONES

    Keeping ONLY 4 sockets on a piece of armor (no shards or refine) = 213 stones (for both stages)
    213 stones / 10 stones a group = 21.3 (rounded to 22) groups
    22 groups * 4.5 gold each = 99 gold

    Keeping ONLY 2 sockets on a weapon (no shards or refine) = 170 stones (for both stages)
    170 stones / 10 stones a group = 17
    17 groups * 4.5 gold each = 77 gold

    The only catch last time I opened socket stone packs I got 8 shards (4 garnets; 1 citrine; rest random). Now if you factor those into the price you would actually have made out better on socket stone packs.

    that's because, to transfer refinement, the source's weapon grade must be higher than the target's.. since the highest equipment grade available in game is gr.16, which r9 gears are, u cant transfer refinement from gears with grade/level 15 and below..

    I've yet to transfer a refine, but how I read your description is "You can only put your current refine onto older gear." That makes zero sense to me. Can you explain the point of such madness, please? b:puzzled

    I actually did the math on this earlier. b:victory

    It costs 400 Chienkun Stones to transfer +10, at 4.5 gold for 10 (when they're on sale) that's 45gold for 100 or 180 gold for 400. assuming your transferring the + from all 4 pieces of armor and your weapon that ends up coming out to 900 gold (180*5=900)

    If you w8 till 1* and 10* orbs are on sale though for 66%off like last time, they come out to something like 1gold for 10, at 60 orbs to get to +5 from 0 that comes out to 300 orbs to +5 those 5 pieces of gear or 30gold. then when the 10* orbs are on sale you can get packs of 5 for 100 gold, using those to get from +5 to 10 for a total of 500gold for the 5 pieces, or 530 for all from + 0-10.

    Overview
    Transferring +10 =$900 in gold

    Refining +10 =$530 in gold
    All in all if your trying to get rank 9 +10 it's cheaper to w8 till the next 1*/10* sale and start over on it.b:thanks

    it means "try talking to the boutique agent for refine transfer and read the directions" . . it is clearly stated that "the source's level must be higher than the target's". . ^-^

    That is lame so it means you can only transfer refines to lower grade gear!!! b:shockedb:shocked

    Why would any1 want to transfer refines then if you are just switching it out for a lower grade weapon.b:cry

    I guess what threw me off though was some1 mentioning that you cant xfr refined gear from rank 8 to rank 9 because u cant get higher than that gear yet.

    So it would make sence in that case since you dont start out with refined lvl 12 on rank 9 gear and if u did y transfer.
