OP much?

Just did a little math with a psy and some OP gear and i came to the verdict that
with the proper build a psy can take huge amounts of damage and it be riddled down to nothing with there defenses. say a sin zerk crits an OP psy for 100k with its initial un-calculated damage after calculations rounded up to the nearest whole number that 100k damage is converted to a measly 412 damage if thats not OP what is? b:shocked b:shocked b:surrender

    Wow, a mage (psy in this case) with +12 everything and JOSD's.. don't think I've ever heard of that one before.. b:cute

    Still, I lol'd at the tome and the JOSD in the weap.

    Good thing it takes braincells higher than that of a ripe pineapple and more than one button to play it worth a hoot, or every idiot with a credit card would be playing Psychics.
    They made fun of me because I wasn't a R8 Psychic...and then came third cast. It's not funny anymore.

    This.

    That soulforce is a bigger concern to me than defense levels.... and you can always be cheap and toss an immune to damage apoth for those if you're unprepared.

    I went and tried fighting a full +12 R9 psy on my server with my non-nirv non R9 geared mystic, and I lost.

    I can confirm that full r9 +12 on a psy is indeed a viable build.

    I will reveal the full details of the fight in a later thread.

    Defense levels have diminishing returns the higher you go so no... 100 defense levels does not mean zero damage taken.

    Other players have attack levels with Jones Bless so 100 Defence levels isn't invincibility.

    No. If you take the formula from PWpedia:
    if (attack level < defense level) then:

    damage taken = { damage delivered / ( 1 + (1.2 * ({ defense level } - { attack level }) / 100 ) ) }

    and put it in a simple graph then it would look like this. At 100 defense levels you'd receive about 45% damage, at 166 def levels about 33% and at 200 def levels still only 30%.
