Lining up exactly with two patches ago (may be coincidence), I have been having extreme lag issues. Normally, my ping stays between 100-200. Since then, I am between 400-3k normal days, occasionally jumping up to 15k and d/cing me. It seems to get worse in the evenings for some reason, but daytime play is affected also. I am unable to do BHs that aren't with faction since I am essentially useless in there with my game constantly freezing, and I can't do much else either because the constant freezing would just cause death. This is getting extremely frustrating.

My internet is working fine. Speed 110 mbps. I have done tests on it, tried plugging in my laptop in case it was the wireless, reset the router. I also verified files on the game, and did a disc cleanup and defrag on my comp. When the game is frozen I can still pull up a webpage fast, and downloading is extremely fast as usual. Only the game is causing me problems.

Is anyone else having this problem? I would really like to know if it could be the game servers causing this, since I have exhausted my options of things to try at this end and everything seems to be fine.

wow i wish i had 110mbs internet connection(that is downloading 110 megs a sec, 1 gig of data under 10 seconds, wow). Unless you are running on extremely expensive tier 3 private fiber optic connection and spend thousands $$$ a month, there is no way you can get that much.

go to speedtest.net and do you speed test. Average person has between 4mbps to 12mbps with their high speed internet. If you are within that range then you are ok. If you are under 1mbps then you have a problem. But otherwise make a support ticket and see if pwi can resolve it.

Mine is apparently 10 (that is with two clients currently running, if that makes a difference).

And I don't know much about computers and such, I just know when I go into my network connections, it tells me my internet is going between 78-110 mbps. I was just reading the screen.

And I know a lot of people that submitted tickets and PWI just says it is their fault... so I was just hoping someone could tell me if it *could* be the game causing the problem.

Oh... heh I just found out, I am on a fiber optic connection btw (I know nothing about computers and had to ask heh).

Also I can download a microsoft operating system in under 20 min. Don't know the exact speed but with my old internet it took hours. 1 gig of data takes me under 5 min (downloaded a 1.3 GB torrent the other day and it took 5 min).

Game is running at 3k ping atm, extremely laggy. Just did that netspeed test again and it came up 12.10.

So... not my internet??

speedtest.net has absolutely nothing to do with the OP's problem.

pingtest.net is what the OP is looking for. Choose the server that is closest to the PWI server that you play on, and try testing it.

Ping is the 'speed' of your connection, speedtest.net measures the amount of data, not the speed or 'ping' which is what matters in most online games.

edit: and downloading a torrent isn't really a good measure of how fast your net is. Speed of a torrent download depends on how many other people are downloading. That's why the new Harry Potter movie will probably take like 2 minutes to torrent.

But yeah, I've noticed the game being laggy since 2 updates ago, and fairly crashy. Unfortunately, it's nothing reproducible, else I'd report it. (Many DCs are during map changes, but not anywhere near all.) I've verified a handful of times, so I know that's not it.

Annalyse, what are your graphics settings, and what kind of video card do you use?

(Note: It's the weekend and I'm on cable, so my speeds above are, of course, about 2/3 of what they're at on weekdays.)

Video card is an ATI Radeon HD 3650. And I have tried turning my graphics all the way down just in case and it made no difference

Edit: according to speedtest, my current ping is 64. But probably not the best time to test since two people are downloading here and I have the game running... not sure if that affects it.

Regardless, my game has always run very well (2 clients open, both at 200 ping max) until two patches ago. I don't really understand what would suddenly change if it was my internet...

OK. That rules out one of my suspicions (recent changes to the Nvidia drivers, since all my machines run latest drivers and all use various Nvidia cards from the oldish 7300 to the recent GTS 450). Drats. Are you running the latest Catalyst software? If so, have you tried a version from a couple months ago? (I plan on trying the same with one of my machines' GeForce software tomorrow when I have free time.)

The next thing I'd think of is that it's the age-old, seemingly-never-quite-squashed, CPU affinity issue. It seems to affect my quad-core systems more than the dual-core. But as it's really hard to reproduce reliably, I haven't been able to tell if pinning affinity matters. b:surrender

Perhaps a mod should move this to the Technical Support forum so that the few PWE employees who are able to help AND read the forum can see it?

My reason for speed test to get over speed and connection, just to see if anything is there.

But as i have already mentioned, contact pwi support and they can check the logs to see if they find or fix anything.

This is not an isolated incident. Most squads I'm in, there's usually at least one other person who's constantly worried about DC'ing. Heading into GV a couple days ago, we lost one of our DD's due to DC during port-in. Needless to say, we eventually failed. (We made it to wave 5, failing just at boss.) b:surrender I also have friends in my FL who DC randomly and are quite irritated about it, as well.

The only common thread is that it started happening the patch before last. It was also the start of fun glitches like this...

(I really should make a thread about that. Arch is really interesting from underneath, no?)

EDIT: At this very moment, my faction's Mumble server is filled with complaining about how the lag's been so terrible the past 2 weeks. They're about to go run a BH, and everyone is having various lag issues, and it's not just one person at a time.

I've noticed, though, that my own skill lag corresponds to when the squad's archers have skill lag. PWE really needs to investigate this...

Just a little quick suggestion, try getting the free version of Game Booster off their official webbie. I had recently purchased a new laptop and PW worked much better then my old laptop (It was older then I am) and I still wasn't able to escape the death trap of lag. My friend suggested Game Booster and suddenly I can run PWI with highest graphics with almost nonexistant lag.

as far as i see it, it's a server issue... just pointing out to everybody that this lag issue started by the time they released the new european servers... and the euro servers in particular seem to be having a worst lag prob than other servers, which is weird since they r not as populated as the other servers.

Ok well... mine actually appears to be my internet. I hooked onto my landlord's unprotected wireless yesterday and found that, despite it running at only 65 mbps instead of my higher 110, my game ran far better. Then I did Speedtest on that one and got far better results, almost twice the speed and a ping of 14. Pingtest rated it A whereas it rated *my* internet C. So I will be calling my ISP today.

However, despite it running better and the tests assuring me it is good, I am getting occasional lag issues still with this connection. And 1/2 of my faction is also having problems... so I do think there is also something game-related going on.
