Why can't we discuss in GD?

So, I made a thread asking for clarification as to how to report certain behavior without getting in a situation of getting yourself directly involved and therefore banned. This spawned a number of people asking for the same clarification and some actual discussion (a rarity in GD sometimes!).

However, that thread got moved to the Lower Depths with nary a word from a mod, let alone a GM/CM who can actually weigh in on what we're supposed to do without violating the ToS ourselves?

Is the takeaway really supposed to be that the mod in question is correct and we're supposed to get ourselves banned if we see someone offering bannable services? b:shocked

Yes, I just noticed this as I was about to attempt to continue the discussion I was having in said thread - I didn't know anything about this trading in FC green gears for exp o.O I have a bunch of that **** lying around in my banks

And this would be yet another reason why I have essentially quit playing PWI the last couple of months. After nearly 3 years, PWI has lost my loyalty because of things like this - don't like what we're saying? Close our threads or move them to the lower depths. It's really sad, these forums are supposed to be here for US, the players, to discuss things with one another. NOTHING in that thread was in any kind of ToS violation, but apparently they just don't feel like taking a minute of their time to answer a simple question - but they'll sure take the time to try and shut us up real quick, won't they?

Good luck, Fintan, hope you get the answers you seek someday, but I give up - if their time can't be "wasted" on us, my time can't be wasted on bothering to care anymore.

i think theyre answer is simple.. if your dumb enough to report it then you deserved to get banned along with those your reporting b:surrender

Well, to be fair, it was probably a certain mod who moved it, due to a mod being called names in the thread. If I were moderating, and a conversation were productive aside from a single post, I'd split that post into a new thread and move just that post. That's just me though.

As for the green Frost gear? I dunno. I left before the first expansion and only came back to broken Frost.

And note that the PWE staff doesn't moderate the forum. If they did, we'd probably be able to get answers to things like "How do we report ToS violations without violating ToS ourselves?" instead of "just get yourself banned too". b:sad

I don't remember which server you play on, but on LC at least, there's constantly people WCing for glitching far more than just Frost. So, should I derail that thread with non-Frost stuff? That's why I started the thread that got moved to the Lower Depths, as the question isn't really Frost-related; it's just that most people seem to only Frost now, so it's the context everyone would be familiar with.

I'd list glitches that I've seen in WC in the past 24 hours, but that'd be bannable and dumb. b:chuckle You'd think that WC for glitches would be something that people would be afraid of, but the lack of any in-game moderation anymore seems to allow people to be quite bold.

Take a screenshot of people glitching the mob, leave the instance, and submit a ticket. You will not be banned.

Taking screen shots of World Chat isn't going to get anyone banned unless they're using hate speech, profanity, or other inappropriate content.

It may, however, prompt an investigation into their records.

You will not be banned for sending in screenshots of world chat.

Taking screen shots of World Chat isn't going to get anyone banned unless they're using hate speech, profanity, or other inappropriate content.

So, to clarify 100%, we have to SS the glitch, leave party, and SS both (making it obvious that we left immediately when they glitched somehow), to avoid a banhammer for glitching ourselves?

guys i don't wanna be buzz kill but this is TO LITTLE ...TO LATE.... already many are 104 or 105....if u really want ban ppl go see who made more then 30mile exp for day...and you got your answer....but at this point you need ban half population over 100++..i really doubt will be a good out come....and ban for 3 days only is a slap in the face really

BEST BEST THING u can do and is decent ...is it to allow it....is not easy to do it after all and ppl spent lot of charm and pots and hyper and time to do it....

since is gone so far and some ppl got a huge advantage already ..only way to get clear is to admit it and let it be...so others who "respect the law" can go to 105 and make it even..after all can't go over 105 as yet?

MAKE IT LEGAL ....i think is best solution instead of a witch huntb:surrender

The only problem with making the exploitation of one glitch legal is that people will begin to question the reasons why other glitches are not permitted by rule. To avoid that situation, the staff would rather just say that exploitation of every glitch is against the rules.

i worked really hard to get 103 so i be able go west and chill...."now" i go out west and i get attacked by several sin or worse...bm or barbar or wizard who pop detection pot.... because they are 104 soon to be 105......closing fc and ban few ppl(u can't ban all) won't fix this for me (and many others) at all....i will still be banned out of tw and pk areas ...render my sin useless pk wise

so....

you can step up and assume fault ( not really yours but someone must be blamed i guess) and make it legal... whats so bad if get few more 105?

something like

"Due some faulty programing players were able to power level "more efficient" . We, PWI after long debates on how to address this issue we decided that due to balancing reasons this exploit will be legal until will be fixed (you can give 1 or 2 months or w/e)"

or you can do ...what? ban half server? as we talk fc is full and nobody goes beyond 3rd bossb:surrender

So here's a question. Why did it take more than half a dozen threads asking the same question just to get a response from frankie? None of the threads asking the question were against any rules they were just getting deleted for no reason.

Anyways I'm done reporting these glitchers. Clearly you all don't appreciate the time it takes to submit tickets as it is but you expect use to join squads, glitch with them, then leave. No thanks, do your job so i can play the game.

Oh really? How many times has a certain cleric (with a name starting with Gol and ending with gotha) from Harshlands been "banned"...and magically reappeared with a slap on the wrist, and then continued badmouthing people (and staff) in World Chat? And during his ban, guess who was whining in WC on different alts? Last time would be the...tenth? Eleventh? People in Harshlands have lost count.

Why should people not be punished for exploiting obvious glitches? It was apparently a glitch to exploit the Cube PK glitch, so now it's okay to exploit only certain ones? MMO's are supposed to reward people who put hard work and skill into them, but it's like this game is the exact opposite these days! How is exploiting game programming anything honorable and fair?
It makes literally no sense...not at all.

Yep we have the same problems on lost city. No one monitors chat and no one cares.

But, Pan Gu be damned if people don't spend 15 minutes yelling at GMs for horns existing when one is used every day or two. If more people would realize that chat was unmonitored, and if we got a way to filter out lines containing words we don't care about, WC would rock. No GM/CM monitors anything in-game related, at all. This has been the same situation for 2 years now (since Anni packs).

Actually, it predates the packs. That's part of why I left in '09. It's also the reason I only play because my girlfriend does, else I'd probably have moved on again.

Why can't we discuss in GD?
