Issues with Packs!

I have noticed lately that everything pack related has been going up in price. (Diamond of Tiger) Went from 1.5mil to 10mil!! (Diamond of Dragon) 5-6mil to 25mil!! x.x;;; Now the Plat guardian Charms are 5mil when they used to be 2.5mil and spirit charms are starting to go back up as well. WHAT GIVES?? My boyfriend and I spend hundreds of dollars on packs and we have been getting nothing but lousy Tokens of Luck! A couple days ago, I bought $20 worth of packs and got NOTHING!! Tokens of Luck! Phhh!! COME ON!! Why have you become so stingy on your packs PWI? For now on, I am not buying any more packs because I am not getting anything from them. It's lame and a total waste of money! So, if you want me and other ppl to continue to shop in your botique, fix your packs to where we are actually getting more good stuff! Stuff that is worth the money we spend to get the packs. b:shutup
Thanks!! I'm sure other ppl are experiencing the same issues, I know ppl on the Dreamweaver server are. b:shocked

I think you answered your question why prices on items have gone up.. people trying to balance it out some. plus more demand, and higher overall gold prices[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0
-
the packs are a lie, the only way you can make a profit with them are to be incredibly lucky, or to sell them to other people who still believe the lie.
the only way to get endgame shards is with packs, and with endgame in the cash shop and the ease and speed people can get lvl 100+ the demand for these shards goes up dramatically.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
It's just the coin becoming more worthless rather than the items becoming more rare. If you keep your coin in the form of AH gold I bet you'll find the price of things hasn't changed much at all.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Well, a few month back, my boyfriend and I were getting pretty good stuff from the packs. Now all we have been getting is tokens of luck. It has never been this bad. We have always been pretty lucky, we have to be with the ammount we buy. It's only fair, the more packs you buy the better the chance on getting SOMETHING! Lately, we will get like 550 packs or more and we maybe get a plat spirit charm out of the whole thing. b:chuckle What a joke! It was never this bad before. I have never seen Diamond of Dragon for 25mil! x.x Guardian0

gold 1.2m; vit stone 45m = 37.5 gold <-- damn me for not waiting b:cryBladedZero - Sanctuary

^This..see even at 5mill per charm, you get it for 5 bucks if you sell the gold. no luck involved. you could have had 10charms for that 50bucks worth of tokens EVEN AT THE BS INFLATED PRICE! heh0 -

fake bidding on the majority of the thingsb:cute I see it atleast 10 times a day. Someone selling x c/o 83mil. (they dont mention who the buyer is.) next wc. WTS x c/o 90mil.
Then... 1hr-24hrs later Wc's the same item for the same offers. Fake bid much? it even had the same refines/shardsb:chuckle And this is one of the reasons prices increased. Cause of fake bidding that implants like a bug in your mind making you think that prices increased, when in fact they haven't cause fake bidding is just making you think it did.
But sssssh i didn't tell you thisb:quietlalalala Pokemon

Considering the drop rate on everything else in the game I'm surprised this wasn't done sooner. Scarcity in the market is only one factor of inflation. There's also competition and greed to factor in. But mostly greed. The game doesn't seem to be designed to have so many... "new" high-leveled people. At least not at the current rate where most of them would rather buy things they need than farm them. Especially if you consider the amount of materials it takes to make anything really.
Look on the bright side now that everyone power leveled the hell out of the game 4x over and prices on everything overall have inflated at least there's still some game mechanics left..........
Garnet Gem - 35m ish, 6 Incomparable Garnet Shards to make
Drakeflame Stone - Never seen one sold, 6 Garnet Gems to make
Diamond of Tiger - 5-11m, 6 Drakeflame Stones to make
Diamond of Dragon 25m ish, 3 Diamond of Tiger to make
Basically, if you do the numbers that's how much worse it could be.0 -
I was sitting on a large sum of coin a few weeks ago. I was tempted to get packs with them, being the pack addict I am. I ended up getting the cube stamp instead. I figured it was the one thing I wanted from them anyway, and while 200 packs probably would've netted me more, I just didn't want to risk it.
Moral of the story...even hardcore pack addicts know when to quit.Censorship is the bane of creativity. Censorship is the bane of personality. Most of all...censorship is the bane of identity.

Well, if we were to assign the prices of the high gems based on Flawless shards and Tokens, you'd get this:
Drakeflame Stone: 629,937,000
Diamond of Tiger: 3,779,622,000
Diamond of Dragon: 11,338,866,000
Jade of Steady Defense: 34,016,598,000
Basically, if our only apply of the gems was from Tokens, you'd have a hard time finding anyone with 24 Diamonds of Tiger in their armor, not to even speak of Diamonds of Dragon or Jades of Steady Defense.
Then again, that also tells you something about the massive amounts of packs opened on the servers. That or then it's just that people who got the gems simply settled for the highest price they could get from a buyer and repeating that countless numbers of time resulted in a market value. But still, those gems have to come from somewhere.I am Olba. Not Ol, not Baze nor Blaze. And even less would I go by Olblaze. Please, take a second to read a person's username.

still buy the packs at the 50 gold bulk rate since I'm assuming that's the bundle you guys buy considering the volume of them you claim to get. But then, instead of opening them, merchant them. Easy make more than if you had opened them, and can eventually just buy the item you wanted in the first place.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

With gold around 1 million, it seems to be pretty much the same as a few months ago, when lunar capes went for around 25-30 mil, and vit stones/garnet shards were around 20 mil.
Yet they about doubled in price, even though there is still a pack sale with comparable gold prices. Puzzling.0 -
I dont care what anyone says. The drop rate of the packs has been tampered with. It doesnt matter how many you buy at one time you still arent going to get much now. I used to regularly buy small amounts of packs and if nothing else got several charms and maybe one decent drop. Last few times I bought 200 packs at a time and was lucky to get one charm one decent drop and a couple of best luck tokens. Before with that many packs Id be rolling in good drops.
Ive quit buying packs unless I just need luck tokens to get something from the boutique agent.0 -

Did you know...sunshine packs suck?
And as for prices raising...With all the rank sales, people are getting rank 9..what did you expect prices to do when xxx amount of people want the same shards, go down in price?0 -
These topics are just dumb. Packs are a lottery, as someone else stated. So much superstition comes from something like this bred from poor luck. Superstitions like tigers are better than sunshines, open at the top of the hour for best chance, open at 20mins past the hour for best chance, open outside of a town for best, open in an instance for best, buy a certain amount of them for best chance.
The packs are 97% chance for 15 tokens. Plain and simple. 1.72% chance for best luck.
Everything else is divided among the remaining 1.28%. Of course your chances will be utter ****. You're placing a lot of (false) hopes in the 1.28% chance you'll get something worth more than 5mil. Yes, the percentages chance ever so slightly between different packs due to content changes. But not enough to justify any of the amazing theories people have.
Each individual pack has that chance rate. Doesn't matter how many you buy, where you open, what time you open. Stop inserting superstition into what is pre-set percentage chances of items.
And Elvindor, according to database, the percentage of getting 15 tokens for sunshines is exactly the same as tigers. Going by the database numbers, lucky corals are technically the worst. 98% chance for 15 tokens.
I realize also, that people will probably follow this posting saying how PWE could have changed them and it hasn't/isn't reflected on the database properly. I think thats taking the conspiracy theory that PWE is 'out to get us' a bit far. Chances are **** poor as it is. Amazing how people will sink so much money into these thinking they will pull uber gear, while actually spending more than if they just worked/saved and bought the items straight out, and then come up with 'drop-rate adjustment' theories to justify the loss of money blown on, what is very simply, gambling.0 -
To have at least a 90% chance of getting something other than the 15 tokens, you need to open about 75 packs. To have the same chance of getting something other than either the 15 tokens or the best luck token, you need to open 185 packs.
If you want 99% odds, you need to open about 155 packs/365 packs respectively.
As someone else said, packs are a lottery. Odds are not good enough for me to risk the coin/gold to open one. However, I'll be glad to sell you some so you can take your chances at it! b:victory0 -

+1. Cube neck use to be 70 mil and now 130 mil. It just happen that gold use to be 700k and now 1.3 mil. The value of a cube is still 100 gold.0 -
For months people yelled about the duke's yell every time someone won something and yet they were never turned off. It seems a little co-incidental that right about the time the luck with packs dropped so did the dukes shouts. I think they have messed with the percentages of higher level prizes from packs and turned off the shouts so people would be less aware.
As for the thought that people stopped buying packs; I find that hard to believe since the pack addicts i know are crying over the success rates indicating that they are still buying. I think that as the price of packs on sale are less than half the original price the drop rate has decreased exponentially so PWI will get the same amount of money in the long run and still give out the same number of higher valued prizes. In order to get the success rate we were used to you have to buy at least twice the number of packs.0 -

With no duke shouts......there could be 10 scroll of tomes a day. Extreme, yes, but the point being that you, and nobody, can know. Not even to the point of reasonable guess. And not that it matters, all the duke shouted for a long time was best lucks along with a couple other assorted prizes and wasn't announcing the 'higher level' prizes anyway. So thats kind of a moot point.0 -

one little thing that's always bugged me: why would the game client files even carry any details about a decision that's far more likely made entirely on the server side? and if for some odd reason they must, why should we believe these details are accurate?
i mean, it's not as if our game clients decide what we'll get when we open a pack, and then go tell the server about it. that'd be obviously open to all manner of cheat hacks.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC] Heaven's Tear alts: KenLubin, Sou_Hon, JudyCaraco --- level 5x chars.0 -

My suspicion has always been that the client actually validates the server response in that regard. If you open, for example a "Lucky Pack" (one of those things that usually gives 5 HP or MP pots, and drops from mobs), you shouldn't get a Scroll of Tome.
What the hell the client would/should do in such a case, I don't know. Maybe it sends a special message to the GMs, maybe it refuses to complete the request and tells the server "Hey, Jerkwad, try that again!", or maybe such validation is a design goal that's never been implemented. Hell, maybe they were once planning on an offline version of the game, too.
But it is sensical that the game client knows what the server might respond with. Whether anything sensical is done with that data, I doubt we'll ever get an answer as (as you pointed out) it could be abused by cheaters. (Could you imagine what'd happen to the economy if each time one of those fairly-common "pot packs" were opened, it gave a citrine/garnet shard?)lol, I do not open pack, but I love them. if no packs, where am I going to get all g11/g12 stones and all other stuffs I need.
