Barbs these days...

I recently started FCing with my BM and began to wonder about the barbs running around nowadays.

On the first run, we had no sin. Well, good old mixed squad, funfunfun. The end-80s barb had no idea how to run FC without a sin and kept QQing, so I took care of them. He refused to pull the magic hall because, lol, the mobs are magic and one of the AAs should do them. After second boss he rage-quit squad, so I ended up tanking the whole FC.

Other fail moments: - Barb that refuses to buff
- Barb that hasn't learned Strength of the Titans
- Barb that uses Surf on final boss, then blames the Archer

Sadly, I could go on and on... I know that a lot of chars are hypernoobs, however the barbs always seem to be the worst. Then again, I've met a few great barbs that did better on their very first FC at lvl 80 than a lot of the 9x barbs I ran with.

It's sad to see that while barbs are already becoming rare, the people that do decide to level a barb tend to be either idiots or are so in love with themselves that they refuse to accept any advice given to them... b:surrender

Hehe join the club. Not only are new barbs or barbs in general rare now, of those new barbs that come up, so many of them just fail. Kinda made me happy I was in control of the pulls in fc. I've even seen things like when I used to do bh59 on it. There was a second barb. that ruan around aggroing mobs in human form. Meaning I had to roar so he would live. <.<

Since I don't squad with other barbs I can't confirm it but it is unfair to tell that barbs are the worst. From my experience sins are the most arrogant people. It happens very often that they ''run away'' from rebuffing and not only barbs are rare in FC. Words like ''please'' or any shortcut of it just died.

I don't deny that. It has effected most of the classes due to the new age of buying heads. It has simply become a game off rush to level 100 as fast as you can.

Well, to be fair, those magic mobs will tear a barb to shreds during the 80's, and probably into the 90's as well. So pulling them all in one blow often isn't doable for us.

And some barbs (and other classes I'm sure) may have never done FC before, and no one bothered to properly train them.

That's where my fairness ends however. Most of the other things you mentioned, I'm right there with you. Actually I'm worse, because they're tarnishing the name of barbs everywhere.

Really I blame a lot of it on the APS craze. Players pick a barb early on reading the same thing I did when I started. They're the tank. Undisputed, no rival, designed to hold aggro, tank. But as they level, they hear over and over about how barbs can't hold aggro at high levels. Or they see call after call for APS barbs only. They lose heart, and thus roll a different character, never to become the awesome barb they might have been.

Thus we're left with the APS barbs, who have sacrificed their best commodity, HP, to do it. And then the noobs/arrogant ones, who give the rest of us a bad name.

Finally we have Sins/BM's/Archers and others who blame us for not holding aggro while they hold no regard for the concept of aggro control. They spark like crazy, take aggro, die, then yell at us for it. It's no wonder barbs are rare.
"Impatience walks with disaster." My own phrase.

"Let the winds of winter come. I fear not famine, nor blizzard, nor an army of predators. For I am wolf. My power is matched by the many that stand beside me. Come what may. I have faced it before, and it has yet to touch me." *The Alpha's Warning*

honestly, i find it rather hypocritical for anyone to say that about any class, especially us barbs. either we arn't good enough even at low levels or we are nothing by going 5.0 like the bms.
either man up, or grow up and help explain the barb who doesnt know, because i remember in my first FC i was hesitant to do anything because I didnt know what to do. its called communication, but if you are going to criticize another player, go back and think about how you played back when we all were learning.

I still find it hilarious that my clawsfromlevelone barb has more hp than 90% of vit barbs on server at his level, with +2 gear. And will continue to maintain high HP thoughout his fuzzying times (specialy once he suits up in my bm's stuffs :3) the differance in a claw build and full vit barb is what...120 vit? 120x17 = 2000ish x 60% for tiger and BCI = oh noes 3200 hp lost at endgame buffed in tiger! Ya no thats the differance in 20k hp at +5 or 17k. Its only when i see barbs goign full str with claws or running around with +3 armor and evade orns that the hp loss matters.

TBH I havent seen much of a decline in barb skill, there was never much of a talent pool to dig through to begin with on sanctuary. Seems 99% of fuzzies are just born tarded.

    Same here Fuzzy.

The problem, as I see it, isn't just the "new" barbs, it's a great deal of the "new" players that go from 40 to 60 and 70-100 in one weekend. They miss out on learning a lot of the squad dynamics that play in earlier instances and earlier squads.

There's a reason I don't generally help in lower level bh's...and that's the fact that players of all classes need to learn how to work together with same level players. They don't learn that if I'm storming through the bh instance and killing all the mobs 20-50 at a time.

I miss teaching young baby barbs with a vit build how to play their class. Luckily I have an apprentice again, it feels great to teach em b:cute

EDIT: I remember I went to try my 1st ever hyper'd FF not long after it changed, I'd never done a "new FF" before but I think I was 99 or 100. I got flamed so much because I didn't pull every mob to 1st boss, got grief I failed as a barb etc etc. That exp made me vow to never help anyone in FF, hyper'd or not, again.

Well, we suggested to take the groups 1 by 1 if that would make him feel more comfortable, but he plain out refused lol

And the other thing is, if I notice that the barb is having problems, I try to give him some advice. Yet, 90% of the time it ends with "It's my way or gtfo". Result: Barb dead, squad dead, massive QQ.

Well obviously since you're lvl 101, you're not going to be helping lower level squads run through FF since you'll nerf like 90% of their exp. Which leaves 99-100+ level squads that may ask you to help out. And to be quite frank... if at that level they still feel the need to ask a Barb to help them get through FF then they are all epic failures in their own right (who probably all got power leveled to 100 in that same instance without learning a thing along the way b:surrender ).

I've watched lvl 100 Venos pull every hall in Frost... magic mobs, physical mobs, the exp heads room... you name it. Frost is really that easy once you've reached 100. Traditional tank roles which in the past belonged to Barbs and even BMs have become irrelevant in FF once you've reached end game.

Depends on the other levels of the squad if you have lower 90s and you're 100+ it's about 20% or so. I wont even talk about 103, it hurts me to think about how low my exp went from 102 to 103 on my sin. b:sad

This thread reminded me of my cleric alt, which I mainly use to farm TTs with and such. Cleric is "full support" or w/e its labeled now. Only used for heals and buffs. If they were to see my cleric, I would probably make clerics sad.

ahhhhHHH the new breeds trying to be pro barbs like the vet's like I...i personally didnt mess with ff untill lvl 87 or 88 back when ffing was still newish and aps craze was still low.I did a back to back to back ff runs just on x2 exp event because 1.)hypers cost 1 gold 2.)Hypers werent available with tokens3.)i was basicly against the cheapness of people lvling quick with hypers.b:chuckle But after watching my friend play his barb for a long time i basicly knew how to use mine and i played mine for a good while and learned alot.

About claws,I recently converted over to demon and i love it..yeah i took a hp hit but really you dont need 20000000000 hp to kill any thing in this game..Ill refine later more to get more hp.Sparking and having blood pait at times or cleric and other buffs..pffft man demon is awsome hands down awsome and you feel more useful and you actually use spark!I rarely used my sage spark because never needed it due to just using my aggro skills and such and being in cat form for 80% of the stinking time.Im also demon on my other alts so it made it easier to convert..i wanted to go demon at the start,im sure glad i didnt get and main skills...whew...or i would still be sage blah

Well any 5 aps DD calling you fail for not holding aggro is an idiot since its not your fault (blame the game mechanics) for not holding aggro against them.

On the other hand you do fail for not understanding that the game has changed A LOT since the days when DDs would die regularly if they took aggro from the Barb. Nowadays as a (non-claw) Barb, your only role in any 5 aps DD squad you are lucky enough to get into is to buff team/debuff boss. 5 aps DDs needing to "learn to control how hard and fast they hit" is a thing of the past.

Recently, during a BH69 random squad with two clerics (my alt and someone else) and a barb tanking, the second cleric died to AOE. While I were waiting for the best moment to rez the cleric to avoid a squad wipe, the lvl 80 barb and the rest of the squad were still killing like crazy. In a few seconds the boss was dead and the poor cleric still dead din't got the kill. Who's fault? The cleric of course, who didn't rez in time. I apologized the cleric, but the meat bag could stopped attacking for a while, specially when so close to kill that boss.
b:angry How I love random squads at Wraithgate. Stupid arrogant sins also often get aggro in BH69 and die in one or two seconds, always blaming the cleric. b:surrender
