Discouraged

To be honest, starting out, looking through the forums and seeing all these high levels, and in World Chat seeing all these high levels,(90+) I'm a little discouraged. I've played the game before as IronCleric, just forgot my password and username, and the email I used for the account has been de-activated. Had him over lvl 62+ something.. I opened three tickets about this problem to PWE but they said they couldn't do anything about it.. blah. But the point is, is it even worth trying to level a character now? Or is it kind of too late? I use to love to PVP in Territory Wars and such...

TW is now R8/R9 play ground. To achieve R8/R9 you need to be 10x.

Oh, great. Thank you for that info. I guess I'll consider not playing anymore. Don't feel like spending a couple months (maybe more than that) to get to lvl 10x and then get R8/R9 to enjoy what I enjoyed in TW.

Yet the devs don't realize yet how broken their game is.

Sweetie, I admit, there are some parts of the game that is broken, but that doesn't mean that you should stop because of it. From your posts I can tell that you're really in love with the game, so why not keep at it. You say that you had a cleric at 6x?

Well, if you think it's justified, just charge 10gold, sell 2-3 gold and use the money to plvl your toon straight to 60+ then carry on from there. You love the game and you know your class well, and I don't see how plvl-ing can affect your gamestyle since you've played it before.

Dynamics have changed a little yes, people level faster now thanks to an instance called FF but it is possible for YOU to do it as well. The game needs more clerics, just observe world chat. Trust me.

Plus, we all began somewhere. I played during open beta in 2007 and I don't have a toon at 100 LOL because I keep jumping around and taking insane game breaks. But I realize that no other toon could replace the love I have for a cleric, so I rolled a new one and see? I'm at 8x. Well I did plvl it which is why I'm suggesting it to you.

Oh, and plvl in this instance means the FF instance, I hope you're aware of it.

Don't quit because of the dynamics. Stick with it. What do you have to lose? :D

You have come at the right time my friend, July 6th they should be opening an EU server you can try that out. At least everyone will be starting fresh regardless of how broken the game is.

Of course this game relies heavily on credit card usage and what not, but if you get in good guild with good friends, game can be still a blast.

I have not played for half a year or so, problem with this game is if u reach level 100, game content can be boring. Some ppl like lording over the newbie players, enjoy the god complex pking everyone with R9 refines of +12 etcetc. I myself am a cash shopper (but not crazy heavy one that spends 10k on a free game), but you will find me very newb friendlyb:laugh, i hate arrogant high level players (same the few that I befriendedb:cry too early).

Of course we wont call u a noob. Basicly to powerlevel you get a level 100+ ( u can usually find people putting out in WC about it) and u buy 5 hyper stones. 5 stones increases your exp by x12. and all you do is follow the person through The Forgotten Frostland (FF) also known as Frostcovered City(FC) and they do all they work and u sit back and watch your exp soar. People usually sell runs 1mil for a full run and about 800k for big room to end. At least thats the price here on HT. FF/FC is in the top left hand corner of your map.

=) Don't quit, dude, the game sure has changed! But it's still fun. I've just come back after a long hiatus too, but Sanc has grown and I have yet to meet anyone really unpleasant, unlike before my hiatus <_<''' We could definitely use more clerics, and there's WAY more quests available now which is a great bonus to exp. =P I'm a noob to powerlvling myself, preferring the old grind and learning how to play with the new classes, rather than zipping to 100.

If you've just come back and need a good faction to help you lvl and quest until you feel you're good enough for TW, you can PM me in game after the 4th. =P I'd be utterly lost without my fac, we're always gathering gear for those who need it, and you can sit back and relax for a bit until you feel you can go on to bigger and better things.

Since youre on a PvE server you wont really have to spend too much money to be competitive. You can still have fun.

But honestly spending money on a game like PWI is much better spent by paying for a good permanent pay to play MMO where absolutely everyone is equal.
I mean its gotten to the point where you literally buy levels with cash.

How much nerfing will the exp be? I have never heard of this kind of power levelling b4, is this wat is popular after R9 became cheap?

Thats the way we do it here. Umm there is a nerf, a substanstial one if u look at it from doing it on your own. I dont know the actual percentage or anything. but there is gonna be a nerf due to the lvl difference. a lvl 1 can get up to about 30-35 in 1 full run. And if u do a private run..IE just u and the lvl 100 that would get u maybe to 60ish i think? I never did it that way because its about 4mil for a private run. And yea, this became popular after the first R9 sale. Im only doing it because i have alrdy gotten a 98 cleric and dont feel like lvling my sin normaly again xD. Thats the fastest Plvling, but the most expensive as well. But like was stated before, if u can charge 10 dollars and then sell 2-3 or a few more gold u could get to lvl 60 in no time and then continue leveling like u would if u never lost ur info.

Be sure also, that when buying Hyper Stones you get them through the PW Boutique Agent and NOT the cashshop, as that would be way too expensive. There is usually always one by bankers in main cities. In West Archosaur usually there are a lot of cat shops selling tokens of best luck. you need 40 tokens for 5 hyper stones from the Boutique Agent, which should come to about 400k maybe more depending on current token prices.

Once you have the stones and you want to plvl it's usually wise to fly to Thousand Streams and talk to the teleporter there so you'll have that waypoint. Then fly to Snowy Village in the North-west corner of the map and activate the teleport waypoint there too. That way when you plan to plvl and you see a good price in world chat you can get there quickly from Archosaur > 1k Streams > Snowy. Then fly to the Frostcovered City portal to the west of Snowy.

Also I've come back to this game a few times after long breaks. It does have it's good qualities. I'll always enjoy the gameplay itself as I think the original developers did a brilliant job. Even the new classes (meaning the tideborn and earthguard) are pretty well put together. There are some balance issues I think but really it doesn't make a huge difference if you're here to play for fun like most of us. lol. I think the important thing is to find a great guild full of friendly and helpful people. It makes the game a lot more fun. I don't pk but I used to TW on my older toons. I don't know what TW is like these days but I imagine it's pretty unbalanced with the Rank 9 stuff out now.

All the same the game doesn't revolve around PVP unless you're on a PVP server. I still enjoy this game very much but my main problem more or less is with PWE itself lol. My only wish is that they'd start running the business a bit better, maybe put some work into moderating in-game some more, as well as bug fixes as there are many that have not been fixed for years. But most if not all of them are not game breaking... so it's not terrible.

I have a level 100 Assassin in Lost City (other account) and I've been running around popular questing/grinding areas at different times (morning/afternoon/night) and I don't see a lot of players anymore.

Most of the times I don't see anyone, not 1 person even.

Seems like the only people that plays in this server now are the same ppl that have high lvl chars that just want to try another class.

Also, Seems like everyone just want to do Frost, BH and Oracle nowadays to lvl fast.

Yeah you may see a good number of players questing west of arch area and Hidden Orchid but other mid lvl areas are empty, like swiftwind for example.

If this populated PVP server is like this, I don't know about PVE, PVE servers is probably more lonely.

    my honest advice
go play a p2p game if you are going to spend money
people spend thousands of dollars just to be competitve in this game - and they still get 1 shot
tw sucks unless you can get into one of the top guilds and even then the TWs often last only 5 minutes because its just a matter of which guild has more credit cards maxed out

people still think this game has hope to be the great game it used to be, and yes it used to be great, but clearly not anymore. its so broken and they dont care to fix it at all. all they care about are sales. they also do not care about balance at all. dont waste your time, unless you want to spend a minimum of 100 dollars to get r8 and crappy shards/refines and ofc leveling up. and even with that money you'll still be vastly underpowered compared to others who spend much much more on this game

but if for some reason you still want to play, then go ahead. but take a second and look on the forums. its all QQ because everyone knows this game sucks and is getting worse, and will continue to get worse. so many things are broken. and they fix nothing, they instead are the ones breaking them and yet the cash keeps rolling in. its almost a shock people still spend so much money and yet are dissatisfied with the content. although, if you're willing to spend 2000 dollars at least then you'll be a bit more competitive and it might be "fun" facerolling-1-shot noobs all day. but that would get boring fast

not everything is about gear. like me for instance, yes having top gear would be nice, but am i gonna spend money to get it? no. im mainly here because i love my friends. people play games to have fun and enjoy their friends as well. not everyone cares about top end gear.im happy to farm my stuff and have fun with my friends. I think that if PWE ever finds any common sence again, PWI could be a great game again. Imo it still is a great game, due to the friends i have around me. Just play to have fun, and dont get so competitive is all i can say. Just rememeber people, it is just a game, have fun with it.

PWE wont, so it wont be a great game ever again. just look at the past few years. i rest my case.

and the game isn't great because you have good friends, you are having a good time because you have good friends - and not because of the game. personaly, i'd prefer to be doing something *fun* AND with good friends, but maybe thats just me.

also, yes people can play at their own level, but lets look at the options.
basically, few people are at lower levels. (you could i suppose one could do all the quests the boring way, and the slow way, which is incredible dull and i could not see why anyone would want to do this, unless they want to beat the game without spending money, and if thats the case, well, you can't really "beat" the game at all, and once your 100 all thats left is farm to get gear or pvp, or you could merchant, which involves 99% going AFK. i like doing this. its ironically more productive not playing than playing, either by merchanting or getting a job so you can cash shop.

most people power level and get to 100 really fast. and then what? either farm for 5 years to get good gear and then realize rank 10 is out and you have to go farm for another 10, while in the meantime someone goes and swipes a credit card, surpassing all your efforts in 1 day. ofc, your goal doesnt have to be gear. but what else is there? pvp ? not without gear. tw ? not without gear. pve? lol. friends? go on fb - or pretty much anywhere else and you will find people.

conclusion and/or tl;dr - not sure why anyone plays this game except rich people (cuz they can faceroll pwn ppl) and there are much better things/games to do.

I'm scared moderators lock this thread for going off topic, but to the initial poster, I forgot your name, sorry.

Listen, there's always going to be haters. People tell you to play something else, people will tell you that the game is broken, people will say that plvling is unfair and stupid, people will say whatever they want, because let's faceit, there's nothing perfect in this world. Take it or leave it.

As cliche as this might sound, listen to your heart. You love the game, so take my advice in my initial post and start playing a toon again. Your love for the game makes up for everything else. Plus, you never know what tomorrow brings. Developers might finally decide to make revisions, things might improve, so trust your heart.

I'm sure you'll make a great decision. Hope to see you ingame. Or if you choose another server, good luck there and have fun! :D

The game isnt balanced anymore but i still have fun... im leveling alts and farming gear.... maybe the bullies out there make things unpleasant.. buy hey... every place has its bullies... and here we dont have anyone else to protect us besides Safe zone... or high level friend with r9... anyway.... point is that you can still have fun doing other activities....

back then when no one us had rank 8.... at least not everyone had rank8 (but the people with huge credit) i used to be red name and pk other red names... (when tt90 xbow used to be considered an awesome weapon xDD) now that pking isnt balanced (u cant do much against +10 weapons) i stay white all time.. i only fight back, but i try not to risk myself too much as i dont wanna drop.

As for the TW side, in Harshlands some small factions are having good fights... and im sure once map is taken by one faction it will again reset. :P Just dont be discouraged by 2 aspects of a game, when there are many other aspects that can be enjoyable-

@ OP: Game is fun, or not, depending on your own viewpoint. All f2p games that I have played were "broken" in terms of advantages gained by cash players (I haven't tried everything, so there might be a "balanced" f2p out there..... somewhere........). This is the only one I've found where all content can be accessed for free, and it has an established community to help learn how to play.
