Sorry if I've used the title incorrectly, I'm only a few days into my game and have leveled my blacksmith, apothecary, tailor and craft skills up to 1 and have hit a brick wall.

I went to an Elder and leveled the skills so am now level 2, I've gone and collected more mats and have started making some level 2 items but am not getting any little green bar thingies (points/experience). Is there something I need to do before it starts registering my progress to the next level? Sorry this is probably a really stupid question, but I just can't seem to find out what to do. I'm a level 25 seeker.

Also, (sorry!) I cannot for the life of me find most of the level 2 apothecary herbs...I've run around and collected quite a few of the level 1 ones and some of them advance onto the next level, but it's the new ones that I can't seem to locate. I've moved over quite a large portion of the land and nothing...are they a drop?

Thank you in advance for any help

this game uses the word "level" to refer to an awful lot of different things, and it gets confusing.

short version: when you're selecting things to make at the NPC, somewhere in the window for each item there should be a little label that reads "requires (craftsman/tailor/blacksmith) level X", and you want X to be equal to the level of the crafting skill that you've got in order to gain crafting XP.

the level of the item produced may not be equal to the level of crafting skill needed to produce it. in fact, it seldom will be.

apothecary herbs are never drops. they just grow in different regions of the map; the lowest-level ones in areas where very low-level characters might be expected to run around, higher ones in higher-level neighborhoods. if your character is level 25, you should be seeing the areas near archosaur, orchid temple, and silver pool; there should be some level-2 herbs growing thereabouts.

(don't just stay in the earthguard part of the map until you run out of quests there. there's too many quests down there, you'll fall behind on your main storyline and cultivation.)

Thanks for your help LennieClarke, but I'm still a little stuck. I've made things in the blacksmith skill that require level 2 and am seemingly getting no experience on the little bar in the manufacturing screen. I just don't understand what I'm doing wrong or what I've not done for it not to register!

I've completed all the quests around the 'earth guard' area (well except for 1 or 2 that require fighting a big bad meanie that I can't seem to kill), and have moved on almost halfway across the map and still haven't spotted any of the level 2 herbs, lol, maybe I just need to open my eyes a bit more!

For level 2 herbs, you might want to start moving to the larger city, which is Archosaur. There should be a couple of lvl 2 herbs around that area. The starting cities tend to have only the level one herbs lying around with several exceptions. You'll find more once you move out of your starting city

    Thank you for your help.

When I train all 4 skills making level 2 items there is still no register of experience on the bar in the manufacturing screen, it's also showing no increase in the skill tab-passive skills. I've made quite a lot of the items trying to see if it was taking more of them to register because of being a higher level, but no luck.

    Any ideas?

items have "levels" (grades) in this game, for instance, my main weapon is "level" 10. but these "item levels" have nothing to do with the level of crafting skills required to make them --- i made that sakyamuni's light myself, and my blacksmith skill is level 4. i suspect this is the confusion, here.

but to find out for certain, we need more details. what items exactly are you trying to make? name them. what precisely is your crafting skill at, in experience points? hover your mouse over the skill icon in your skill list to find this out.

They're sitting on 10/20...to start with I could only make 'level 1' items, so making them I got the first 10 points and then spoke to an elder who then said I could make 'level 2' items. I've been making 'level 2' items now (quite a few) and am getting no new points to work the 10/20 to 20/20. Any help is greatly appreciated! =)

    Ammunition doesn't cause skill gain.

    Other than that:
Are you sure the items say "Required skill level: 2" when you seelct them?
