Not only because of being unable to blow up the cash shop, but also because the majority of the player base =/= the majority of people posting on forums, and the majority of the player base liked being able to buy gear, weapons, etc, etc, etc from the cash shop. That is why packs became so popular and why they are still out there, now on several different versions.

In our case a part of the community raged... but most of it actually liked and used the option of Pay To Win, to the point where now we have nothing left to do but accept it is here to stay.

You would be pissed too if you were playing a "Play to play" game and you had to spend an extra $2000 to unlock the best gear/items/weapons/etc around.

Well, normally to play a game, you do actually have to play it, seemings as this game is a play to play a game, I think it relates!

    If someone take's this seriously...

Well, there IS that one mob that spawns in the northern wall from time to time. That could be close.

Well, there are a few types of players in this gamer.

If you simplify it down, there are two types of people who can survive in this game: merchants and cash shoppers.

Obviously, the cash shoppers might only be inclined to complain when something ridiculous happens, like the R9 sale. But that's not because of the sale itself, it's the effect it had on them: All the gear they had was now useless and the hosts were pretty much telling them to spend even more to be the best. And as can be seen, the top brass of cash shoppers does exactly that, for some inexplicable reasons.

As for the merchants, the sales themselves are important. To me, the only sale where I've actually bought something to use for myself in the past several months has been the most recent reputation sale when I got Rank 8. Other than that, all the sales have just been opportunities to make more coins.

When it comes to the Gold Auction, the cash shoppers are the suppliers, whereas all the major demand comes from the merchants. And since both sides can benefit from the sales, it's not going to stop.

And in effect, there's nothing the players can do: if you try to arrange a boycott, that'll never work as there is always someone not willing to participate. And even if you succeed at a full-blown boycott, the most it might do is cause them to simply close the game as non-profitable. And if you try to overload the supply with cheap gold, some unwilling merchant will just buy it all and sell it on for higher.

And in reality, it is PWE who sets the gold prices. Some argue on that, saying that the price of Gold is what people are willing to pay for it, but guess what? Said willingness is 100% tied to what you can get with that Gold, which is what PWE controls. Also, by chaining together multiple desirable sales, such as packs, reputation and dragon orbs, the gold price just doesn't go down. And since PWE is in control of the pricing, they can just give an even higher discount if people are not willing to pay. And that way, they can not only rise the prices as high as they want, they can keep them there for as long as they want.

So in effect, there's nothing anyone can do. Well, short of banding together, buying out PW-Beijing and changing the game that way. Or some DDoS'ing the games.
