Unanswered Refining Questions

I have read the FAQs and other posts..

1. I just made a 3-start weapon. If I refine it and it fails, will that weapon lose all its magical attributes?

2. What would a +1 refinement do to a lvl 3, 3 star weapon? How much magic damage would it add?

    Higher grade weapons gets higher benefits from refinings

    A 3 star weapon have more Damage/Magic Damage increase than the same 1-star version

    If refine faills you weapon's Min-Max drop back at his original non-refined state.
    If refine fails a 3-stars weapon will stay as a 3-star weapon

    Also the simple rule is the higher is the min-max of a weapon the higher the refine will add
    (A 100-150 weapon gets lesser refines than a 200-300 one)
    The higher is the refine the higher min-max will be improved
    (The same weapons gets more min-max when refined at +7 than when it was refined +6).

    it is almost pointless to refine lowbie weapons past +2... unless its hook and thorns (only b/c you keep those till lvl 100) or its end game gear type...

    Since it wasn't answered directly:
    No, a refine failure will NOT wipe out the items magic bonuses, ONLY the items refinement.

    Has stats on how much each level of refine will add to an item.

    For a low level item, the answer is "Not very much at all"

    Edit:
    Wait, hook and thorn is a level 80 item! Describing that as 'lowbie' seems insane.

    +1 refines are relatively easy to get, and not really expensive. you can experiment with these on even low-level equipment --- no matter what happens when you try to refine, the gear will not become worse than it was when it was unrefined and brand new. the very worst that might happen is you lose whatever refining it's already got.

    +2 refines are fairly cheap, and start making sense on gear from maybe level 60 or 70, or so. possibly on legendary (mold-made) gear sooner than that, but not much.

    i'm level 71, and my weapon is +3; it wouldn't make any sense to make it +4. my armor's only +2.

    to find out exactly what refining would do to a specific piece of gear, look it up on pwdatabase.com and check the "refining" tab.

    anything under lvl 101 is still considered a lowbie when it comes to gear... and yes hooks are still a lowbie weapon seeing a player can power lvl a sin in about 3 days to lvl 80...

    I went to the database and could not find what section there tells you about how much refining will improve items. Can you tell me where to look?
