Is this game worth starting new?

I've played many many MMO's and most recently walked away from 6 max level toons on WoW because there's nothing new to do outside of Grind or PvP. I've seen every quest many times and am sick of the mindless errand and dailys quests.
There is a serious lack of options in the high-end MMO genere right now.
I cam across this game while searching and was wondering if folks recommend it or if it's a WoW knockoff or dying game. Don't know much about it.
Thx

whether it's worth doing depends on what you value, what you like to do.
whether it's a knockoff i can't say, i've never played WoW.
it IS, however, a dying game. i stay because i want to see the game content and because i've made good friends here. if what you want is end-game content --- well, that's the one thing i most often see end-game players here crying and whining about the total lack of.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC] Heaven's Tear alts: KenLubin, Sou_Hon, JudyCaraco --- level 5x chars.0 -
You'll get a lot of "game is dead" people in this thread, I guarantee it.
Personally, I still enjoy it. Most people rush to endgame, but honestly, if you take your time and actually play the game it's definitely still enjoyable (at least to me). If you want to PvP, it's a bit hard to find mid-level PvP, so that makes powering to endgame appealing, but then you lose most options except paying real money to get your gear and the like. If you learn the game, figure out how to make coin, etc, though, you should be fine.
If you decide to play and roll on Lost City, give me a shout in-game some time and I'll help you out. b:cute
Also: not much endgame content besides PvP. Most things are mid-level content like quests, but both have appeals.0 -
I wouldn't be worried about end-game. Just something significantly entertaining while leveling.
Does the game level based on quests with storyline or mindless grinding and errand quests? Are there dungeons and epic quests or just world kill farming?0 -

A bit of both. There are some quest chains that have a significant storyline, grind-related quests, dungeon quests (bounty hunter) for large sums of exp, and you can grind for quests or coin.0 -
Cool, thanks man! Sounds like something to kill some quality time on. I really enjoyed DDO "Another free to play game," but once I hit max level decided it wasn't worth paying to keep going.
This sounds similar but the initial enjoyment is always worth the time.0 -
The only real problem with people on this game is, they rush, if you take your time, like I am with my cleric, you find doing the impossible, becomes possible.
Which is why with my two remaining slots, I rerolled a Psy and a Veno, and I made a new account, because honestly, until I get most, if not all the classes to the 90s, it won't be over for me.0 -
Thank goodness there are some people on forums who won't simply rush to endgame. b:cute Glad to hear you'll try it out, Cereal.
I personally think half the fun is finding out little tricks to each class and being able to do the "impossible" and shock people in squads. Like my 65 barb tanking and surviving wyv(boss in a mid-level dungeon that has a damage amplifying curse) with only wizard or psychic heals, no purify. It just takes time to learn what to do when. Then you can take pride in how you play rather than how much money you've dumped into the game.0 -

for the first 40 or so levels, you level by questing. after that, you'll be doing largely daily quests and other grinding. plenty of dungeons in there, too.
mind you, even a lot of the per-level quests ARE grinding. "go kill X number of Y mob for me!" is a common NPC request.
still, there is a storyline unfolding, if you care enough to read the dialog and puzzle it out. a lot of people don't. this is a large part of why i still play myself --- i like the journey, i want to see what there is along the hundred or so levels before endgame.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC] Heaven's Tear alts: KenLubin, Sou_Hon, JudyCaraco --- level 5x chars.0 -
I'm also here because I got a bit tired with WoW (3 years on the same private server). I was looking for something totally different so the Chinese background was perfect for me.
Plus there's all the fashion, various mounts, extreme customization.
If you can close your eyes on everything that's not working here (and there's a lot, believe me. I won't list it all, they'll probably get mad at me. You just have to read this forum anyway) this game might keep you busy for a while.
What I like is that you have to be a successful merchant. And that's totally new to me since gold didn't really matter in WoW. You really need to read these guides : http://pwinsider.wordpress.com/author/warrenwolfy/
They will teach you how to make coins (btw be smart and never spend a single $ on this game).

Well yes this is a dying game, slowly but surely it is dying.
so in a nutshell this game if you decide to stay plays out like this
1-4x or 5x questing, lots of questing
5x - 80 less quests, dailys, and farming HH/TT for gear
80- 100 even less quests, FC, and dailys, and farming for gear
100+ nirvana, dailys, fc,
now with the recent trend in hyper lvling at about lvl 5x you will notice less and less players at the town of that lvl range, till eventually there are none, andyour left questing by yourself (should you chose to take a break from fc)
Also the PvP has kinda died, its really just sins ganking everyone.
now should you roll on a pvp server, when you hit lvl 30 you will be in pvp mode, have fun and should you have the audacity to pk someone your own lvl they will most likely hop on an alt 20+ lvls above you and kill you, or ask a friend/guildie too. Or should a random person see you pink they will chase and pk you, most of them bieng 20+ above you, actually know they can 1 shot you and just do it to boost their e-peens. As of recently i have only had 3 fights between people around my lvl range, and 1 person 20+ lvls above me back off when they noticed i was way under their lvl
And while this sound like a troll, this is seriously the state of PWI0 -
Every game is in a "dying" state lol But to answer your question, while PWI is not as how some of us remember, there's a reason us veterans stay here. I have a love/hate relationship with the community. There's the QQers, the haters and the users. But there's also some AMAZING people that you just have to meet. This game has a lot of.."hidden" wonders if I might say so myself. Keep this in mind, you only get out of it what you put into it. My toon may not be the best gear (or good geared for that matter xD) or the most well skilled, but I sure as hell still enjoy this game. If you don't like easy mode, don't go and buy the top gear with top refines. Farm through TTs with buddies, meet some cool folks in a faction (<3 LG's perviness b:dirty) and really get out of PWI for all it's worth. Only your mind is the limit as to what you can do.
Good luck and keep that ambition up ^^[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Hello imcereal. I have high-end experience in both of the games you played, but I won't compare them directly because it is forbidden. Let me put it this way:
- Quests here, regardless of the (short) story they involve, are kill that and bring that (99%).
- Every boss and every dungeon is nothing more than a gear check, except for some simple death mechanics not worth mentioning.
- PvP is entirely stop action, except for some kind of "pet" skills..
- The most powerful gear and upgrades need year(s) of hardcore grinding or they can simply be bought instantly with a few thousand dollars, with no prerequisite except your level.
- There are no official PvP ratings except K/D ratio and other non-sense.
- Some classes massively overpower others.
- Etcetera
However the graphics are nice, music calming and character customization is out of this world. In conclusion if you were a progression raider or rated PvP-er and seek any similar experience here, forget about it.
Anything in particular you'd like to know further just ask.
Cheers.

There is a major problem with this game at the moment. It used to be like "that other game" in that you could farm gear and get items by raiding instances.
Now, through the cash shop, you can purchase "Rank 8" and "Rank 9" weapons and armor. Rank 8 is a couple hundred dollars, and if you spend a few hundred more to refine it to +10 then it's pretty good. Rank 9 is several thousand dollars, but it's so much more powerful than anything else in the game that people who've spent the money are overpowering everyone else.
So, if you like to quest and play a game for a storyline, I recommend a game that rhymes with sift.
If you like to do character customization, play with fashion, and have a social experience, play PWI. It's a glorified chat room unless you buy Rank 9. Then you have a chance to PvP at end-game.
Just know that if you roll a character here and get hooked, you will probably end up spending a LOT more money than you would have spent on a pay-to-play game. This is why I'm spending more and more time over in "sift" these days...
EDIT: Oh, and don't forget. "Goof Wads 2" and "Dynablo 3" are both coming out soon. Those also sound intriguing.0 -

This has become a very lonely game till you hit 8x-9x. The problem with taking time and enjoying the content now a days is there really isn't anyone to do it with. It is also much harder to get help, whether it be with people your own level (cause of lack of them) or high levels (no longer incentive to help). People rush to end game cause either they are alts of already high level players, or you die of boredom without doing so. Every single town on the map used to be populated and many extremely crowded. Now just the big few cities, even the original ones are empty.
Before when you were weeks to months behind high level players and knew with hard work could catch up and feel a part of the endgame/tw/pvp/instance community in a reasonable time, now you are years behind. The only way to catch up in a reasonable time is to swipe your card. If you are willing to it can be a fun place, if you are a true f2p player or even through a few bucks here and there, you will find it very frustrating now with the inflated economy and lack of new blood to build up with0 -

If you have lot of money to spend. Yes you can start. If you don't have at least $1000+ to spend. Don't even start, because at high level every1 with rank 9 will 1 shot you. And rank 9 is hell expensive. To be equal to others you will be forced to spend lot of real money. Magic classes are death, because nobody wants them to the squad. No squad=no in game money=no gear=death.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
No /10char0
-
Personally, I would not start again. I feel it would be a waste of time with this game. But that's just my opinion. It really is up to you. Do you think it will be fun in the long run? Do you not mind spending some money perhaps if you get tempted? Make sure you ask yourselves those questions first and think about how you see yourself in the future with your new account or character.
Best of luck.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
Thank you so much ForsakenX for the sig b:cute0 -

Everything has its beginnings, but it doesn't start at one. It starts long before that... The world is born From zero. The moment zero becomes one is the moment the world springs to life. One becomes 2. 2 becomes 10. 10 becomes 100. taking it all back to one solves nothing. so long as zero remains... One.. Will eventually grow to 100 again.0 -
If you have $500 to spend on a free game it's definitely worth starting anew. Otherwise... Don't bother, unless you plan on quitting once you hit 100.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
