HP shards vs. Phy. Def

Is there such a thing as too much HP on a sin?
I am about to buy my lvl90 gear and wonder if I should use HP shards or also some phy.def?

I play mostly solo.. grinding, with a pure dex build.

    HP. My sin at lvl 90 w/o barb buffs has 4.1k unbuffed. Which is very useful in all sin frost runs so I don't die too often.

    Then I give him barb buffs and bam, he can demon spark tank Slash boss in frost and **** off all the other sins x3

    I am not sure how the dmg calculation works in PWI, but I could imagine that having more defense may be better in some cases then just having HP?
    Too bad this game doesnt log all the dmg and evades.

    I kinda look at it this way, with decent refines and HP you can pretty much solo the majority of this game. No real effort needed (especially as a sin).

    Two things to consider:

    1: While defense (overall) is better for heals, there's no heal that can save you from a 1-shot.
    2: Magic never misses (outside of focused mind).

    That being said, I'd go for HP shards and refine ornaments for defense if you're talking about before vit stones/JoSD become an option.

    T o add onto what kossy said, don't forget that physical def has a great diminishing return, meaning the more you have, the less effective it is. HP is a constant addition, so it helps to go that way, since there isn't a diminishing return with them
