How to get to the surface of the water

How do you get to the surface of the water once you've gone underneath? I can't even see anything so I can't observe the land around the lake and figuire out how to get out.

    Hold down space bar (jump).

    When you reach the surface, activate your wings. Or swim to shore, if you don't have wings yet.

    Once you get right under the surface just press the Fly button and your character will jump and start to fly. If you can't fly yet keep spacebar pressed and it will jump, you could watch around.

    Other way would be pressing M key to open the world map, click once where you are and it'll zoom in, then watch where are the closest shore and go there.
