What causes my "lag"?

Hey guys!

I am experiencing some annoying kind of lag, since the last update I think, though it was there before, just less severe.

Its not really lag when you run around and the rest of your screen freezes for 5 seconds. Its more always there. Whenever I run on my mount or by foot, 2 seconds the world moves slower than normall, then 2 seconds the worlds moves faster than normall. So after those 4 seconds I am right where I should be, but during the 4 seconds it looked like a wave or something.

I am experiencing this at home and at my friends house, so it cant be my internet connection. Turning on Fast performance does make it a little bit less, but doesnt make it go away entirely.

What can it be? Turning off my virus protection didnt help. Restarting my PC doesnt help also. Anyone have any tips?

Thanks alot!!

I think they did a slight quality upgrade or something this week (even though I don't notice much diffirence)... Ever since last update all rock walls are like a brown piece of bubble plastic to me so most likely they've gone beyond of what older videocards can handle this week... Not much to do about the lag exept lowering your graphics setting... Especialy when you're in West Archosaur...

Sometimes I have this happen. It's usually when i don't bother to reboot after a patch.

It's also helpful to occasionally do a cold boot so that you can totally clear the memory.

Somehow I think they just **** about with there game and forget to Ctrl+Z after they're finished, either way, I experienced this when I walked out of north arch outskirts with one of my random characters.

Yes my character fell through the floor and it was a never ending "rubber band" fall, so the fall from the floor all the way to where the pic shows just kept happening at some stupidly fast speed, yet when I turned my camara to a specific direction, I got this view instead.

Then after I reloged, I seemed to of been back onto the floor, somehow I don't think that it was my g-card fking up either, how could that possibly make me fall through the floor :/.

That sounds exactly like what used to happen to me in Cube of Fate. If so, then it's a known issue with some multi-core CPUs.

On Windows XP, hit Ctrl-Alt-Del, or on Windows Vista/7, hit Ctrl+Shift+Esc. That will bring up "Program Manager", and under the processes tab you need to find "elementclient.exe".

Right-click on it, select "Set Affinity", and de-select all but 1 CPU core. This will force Perfect World to use only 1 processor core.

Give it a try and see if that helps.

It sounded like a great idea, so thanks for that! Unfortunately it didnt help alot (maybe a little bit). I guess Ill wait and see if next patches will make it better.

After some more minutes of playing it seems that it does help quite a bit WarrenWolfy, thanks!

V-Sync limits frame rate to screen refresh rate, it can help at times for certain things...
