One guide says it adds dmg in form of a water elemental to any MELEE weapon. The other guide says its usefull for fighting fire mobs..which means it helps mag as well. What is it...or is it both?.

Its Pandora's guide..but I it doesn't say specifically that. It wasn't exactly that clear to be only Melee but if it is that sucks lol. Oh well. Thank you!

our good friends the archers already ran the math and did the testing on frost blade for us. ecatomb has the description wrong. it adds a percentage in water damage based on the weapon damage of the person it's cast on.
it adds no damage from magic attacks.

think of it like a water based blazing arrow you can cast on others.

^this. I personally love frostblade almost as much as Cleric buffs for the extra water dmg on top of Blazing.

the comparsion with blazing arrow is explains it quite good

but i guess there is 1 important thing missing here it does only work with
normal attack = autoattack = the additional dmg doesnt help melee classes when they
use skills so basically the classes who benefit the most are sins archers and fist bms
because those use spark -->autoattack most of the time.

mine is sage and i always buff my whole squad with it but mainly to get chi and not
because of the squad waiting to get the buff. Well after all it makes a shiny glow on your weapon

    greetz harm0wnie

PS: people hat me for doing that when we fight a boss with water immunity like Fats because of all
    the Resists from FB ^^

yeah, it only helps auto attack, so casters dont benefit from it except for the occasional veno. so in RB if you seeker or archers asks for frostblade, tell em just to chill.

Because is practically useless. Added attack is hardly noticeable.

the skill description says (or at least it used to say I believe) adds damage to "normal" attacks.

Frostblade is ok I guess, imo. aps classes ask for it sometimes, otherwise meh.
