[IDEAS] How to Solve "Non-Existent" Fraud

Simple, give the players the power to solve it for you.
My idea is to give all players a new paintgun skill at around LVL 50. You only get 1 ammo (random color of course), and if you witness fraud, you can shoot ur paintball at the fraudster, and it will stick permanently, in either catshop or normal mode.
This serves 2 purposes:
1) if you notice someone has a paintball stains(s), then DING DING! you automatically know to be wary of this potential fraudster.
2) if someone gets X number of paintballs stuck to them, they are automatically put in BAN status until it can be reviewed by PWI staff. The owners of the paintballs will be consequently summoned for their side of the story.
Only a PWI staff member can reload ur paintgun skill, hence, accepting the PWI summons is the only way a player could hope to get another paintball.
I was only kidding about the random colors. There could actually be a progression of colors after someone submits a sucessful prosecution. So in essence, the more ppl you sucessfully prosecute with ur paintballs, the higher rank your paintball skill becomes. So for example, if red was a lvl 10 paintgun skill color, and you see someone splattered in red, definatelly dont do business with that person.
As a reward for someone who consistantly splatters and prosecutes with a red level skill, you could give them a Medal of Glory b:chuckle ...ok, well thats not gonna happen, but maybe there could be some kind of multi level reward system in place for the ppl that actually care enough to clean up the community...similar to the DQ rewards system.
Oh well, thats my idea. Anyone else have a good idea on how to get this fraud under control, before it spins out of control.

Everything has its beginnings, but it doesn't start at one. It starts long before that... The world is born From zero. The moment zero becomes one is the moment the world springs to life. One becomes 2. 2 becomes 10. 10 becomes 100. taking it all back to one solves nothing. so long as zero remains... One.. Will eventually grow to 100 again.0 -
Seems fair... "nonexistant fraud" being dealt with a non-existent paint-ball gun0

Great idea, but 1 flaw:
If a person hates another person's guts for whichever reason.. even if they're not scamming or w/e, they'd be painted/marked. GMs can undo this then, but you'd be running around with the mark for quite some time before a GM will remove it (business hours, ticketing system etc, takes time), hurting your reputationWhen I got the meaning of melee mixed up:
'Maj.. Melee ffs.. means I'm punching you in the face 1 foot away!'
>.<0 -
This idea assumes every player is mature and would use this for its intended purpose. This is also contingent on every player reading what its intended purpose is. While I think the vast majority of players would not abuse something like this, it would be unfortunate to have a tarnished reputation while waiting for the paint to be cleared.
It would be too easy to create a dummy account just to have extra paint-balls to blast away with, which would clog things up even more.
The best way to deal with fraud is education. Unfortunately, many players are unwilling to do research.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

GM's? What GM's?
Ooooooooo you mean the guys that get paid for sitting at a desk all day thinking up new ideas on how to extract money from the player base? Yeah, those GM's
@OP
I think it's a great idea, ofc the only flaw is shooting people that **** you off. That and the fact the GM's don't care about anything other than money.
It'd be so pro to get like a whole fac shoot the leader of a rival fac b:cool
But yea I think it's a great idea0 -

Yeah, I couldnt think of a way around this set of problems, its why i proposed only having 1 paintball. They would sure need a big "WARNING" pop-up when you try to splat someone, with all the disclaimers of its usage, and ramifications for improper usage. Also maybe some very strict rules about usage, like possible ban for impropper use, misuse it once, and lose it for life, and only allowing 1 skill per account, so you have to choose wisely which character gets it.And I will strike down on thee with great vengeance and furious anger...the life you thought you led is gone, and your catshop is on an island surrounded by dinosaurs.0 -
Can you splatter me with your paint gun if I'm in catshop mode, selling a perfect token of luck for 4.6M ?[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Here's a few flaws:
1) Nobody in this game is mature enough to use this properly
2) It would require the devs to listen to a suggestion, perform coding properly, and implement something that doesn't directly benefit them, or their stockholders
3) The GM's would very likely not give a damn about this to the point where they wouldn't activate it if it were even implemented (or even, properly and functionally implemented)
4) If, say, it was put in by the devs, and they did tell PWI staff to turn it on, do you think they would react in a timely manner to 'unban requests'?
And here's a few situations where I can see these being used inappropriately by users:
1) In TW
2) Because someone PKed someone else
3) Because someone doesn't like someone else
4) Due to a catshop selling something for 'too cheap'
5) Because a catshop is buying something for 'too cheap'
Should I go on? The drawbacks list can get bigger. Not to mention, you only have 1 round. So, what happens if you see two scammers? Choose the worse of two evils? IDK...101 Sage Sin*/Archer
100 Demon BM*/Barb
96 Demon Cleric/Sage Seeker
95 Demon Wiz/
94 Sage Veno
85 Psy/80 Mystic
And a handful of other alts, all 79 and under.

What I find funny about these types of posts are, no one ever seems to look at a problem from every possible angle. Or at least attempt to. It's comparable to trying to visualize the universe before we were part of it. Another impossible concept yes but worth the effort. Let's try to see all problems from as many perspectives as we can before arising to a conclusion.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Can be extremely easily abused:
1. Have a high level sin/bm/barb/whatever
2. Use said high level to run an alt in frost up to lvl 50 to get the skill
3. Lather
4. Rinse
5. Repeat indefinitely
6. Splatter the entire PWI playerbase
7. ???

Did you see the reply from one of your supporters, how it would be "so pro" to have an entire faction use it against the faction leader in a rival faction. So now know one will do business with that faction leader because they have 200 paintballs covering their character and their reputation is tarnished and they are ostracized.
I suggest you read the book the scarlet letter.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

You idiot... should be crowned as the king of idiots and reign over all the other idiots. nice job getting every single +12 banned two minutes before tw.1. If I kill you; do something about it yourself, don't go complaining to my wife.
2. If you have less kill counts then me, don't expect me to take pk advice from you.
3. If you are hiding behind an alt, don't expect me to acknowledge your existence.

Sorry, but I can't agree to this. Why? Let's say I have a couple of very loyal friends or hell I have as many alts as I can have (new rule two accounts, 8 on each means 16 total) I can then get on each one of them and tag your person to death just because you pissed me off, not because you are actually a scammer, but just cause I don't like the way you look. (hypothetical here) or you said something offensive to me. Well, bam, you're tagged for life by 16 people. Sucks.
Also, there are many scammers, not just one. I see on average 3-5 a day when I am going from cat shop to cat shop. Print screen it with the player name and their cat shop advertising falsely, then hover over the item they are truly selling, and send in a ticket. Do NOT say 'reported' to the cat shop or anything.
Why not? Cause then they ship their money as fast as they can to their main. If you don't warn them, better chance on them losing whatever scammed money they made.
So while it may be appealing in some light, it's not quite the way I think it should be.
I think there should be a button like the report hacking one for reporting scammers. Would be a lot easier. Where right as you click it you're given a 'camera' view (like when you hit F9) then you can adjust and hit whatever button and print screen it (so that it's not falsely submitting a claim, they have proof) but that ways its easier on us so we don't have to go through the stupid ticket ****.
Also, just a comment, this should be under suggestions forum b:chuckle[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
