    How long were the servers down after that exploit was discovered? Servers didn't get back up until Friday or something right?

Does this mean they're going to have an emergency server shutdown for the weekend while they ban people abusing the pack exploit while not physically rolling back the servers to a pre-pack state? While they're at it, will they also be manually removing all that coin from the economy? b:chuckle

    There is no such thing.

    If you don't know, there was a thing with the original Duke Rose fashion that somehow allowed people to make lots of coin, which caused gold to skyrocket. The response from the GMs was to rollback the server.

    Only they didn't actually roll it back after the temp shutdown, much to the displeasure of many. Instead they had just manually removed some the coin it generated and banned some of the people who exploited it.

    I say some, because many people who had exploited it were still around after the dust had settled. So the servers wound up with some people who had gained well over 10mil and up from abusing the glitch but didn't have anything done to them.

    For those that didn't know the exploit was from being able to NPC the duke rose top (3 gold) for 3m coins. This was when gold was 120k or so. Basically gold was pegged at 1m coins instantly. Gold buyers made tons of coin and were banned and gold sellers made tons of coin and got to keep it. The servers were shut down for a few days, the duke rose top was removed from the boutique, and there was no roll back.

    With the current economy this bug would be benign since gold is already well over 1m.

    Ah, good times. When we saw gold hitting 1m in less than an hour and kept saying it would never happen without the Duke Rose exploit.

    There was no rollback whatsoever, even though a lot of ppl were banned, I do know the name of a few that were forgiven and are still playing this gameb:lipcurl

    Remember how for the next week or so we had topics in Gen discussion constantly demanding a rollback? Was the most epic mass complaint we had at that time. XD

    And than the even bigger outcry when they put in the packs. gold went up to 500k, and people claimed the economy was completly destroyd (it's still there, though severly beaten up, the economy will always adjust).

    Aaa yes, no when gold goes below 700k it get's bought up instandly by merchants b:surrender

    Lol, I remembered verticoli bragging in wc about how much he was charging loads to sell. I was playing at school when it happened, then servers were down when I got home.
