Cleric skills questions?

sorry, i know that u can find this info on the forums, but id like a thorough explanation of each if you dont mind

im a cleric, and my guild leader is a cleric as well. shes lvl 100
ive asked her the difference between demon and sage, and she says that sage is for PvE players because sage has the best heals (Im not sure about this) and demon is for PvP

i asked her about the best skills and she said the best heals are wellspring and ih, and that stream of rejuvenation is too slow so no one bothers using it
she says that the best attk spells are plume, cyclone and thunderball
wield thunder is too slow so no one uses it

id listen to what she says however i've heard other people say that opposite of what she has been saying so i am not sure about it.
could you please confirm, or correct what she says?

    Eh, no comment on the sage/demon thing. I don't think one is necessarily better suited for PvE/PvP than the other. I would just compare the skills and see which suits your playstyle more.

    Heals.. IH and wellspring as most often used, but stream is definitely not useless. It's great for recovering a lot of HP at once. Also, plume, cyclone, and wield are the best attacks to use regularly. Wield isn't slow at all if you have a decent amount of channeling. Thunderball is pretty useless.

    I honestly wouldn't take any more cleric advice from her. lol

    The difference between demon and sage are that the spiritual cultivation quests diverge. Also, there are bonuses for lv11 (demon or sage version) of your skills. Simply choosing one path over the other without obtaining the lv11 skills does not automatically give you a boost in PvE or PvP. I highly recommend you check out the Demon/Sage spreadsheet thread, which is stickied.

    Most people generalize by saying sage is for PvE and demon is for PvP :/ I'm demon and I don't PvP beyond TW (and I don't go rambo in there just because I'm demon lolz). It's all about the skills~ Pick the path with the skills that fit your play style.

    For the most part, yes, ironheart and wellspring are your bread and butter for healing. However, if you are completely disregarding stream of rejuvenation, you are not using your class to its potential. Stream of Rejuvenation is an awesome skill. Yes, it does have a longer channel time but it makes up for that since it is like a combination of the two. It heals HP upon cast and heals HP over time. It's not a skill you should spam IMO.

    Wield Thunder is one of your hardest hitting skills. Cast time is about the same as Thunderball >_> I don't know what your leader is talking about it being useless.

    Even many people say Sage is for PvE and Demon is for PvP that's not entirety true for all classes, Clerics are good at PvE and PvP if you pick Sage or Demon. It really depends on your playing style.

    Yes, the IH/Wellsping combo is your most basic healing combo you will be using in almost every situation, but blowing off SOR is not a good idea since you can use it to heal a large amount of HP to someone who is dieing faster than you can normally heal them with IH/Wellsping. I recommend lvling when you have spare spirit and money on you.

    Wield thunder is you best DDing skill (that doesn't cost chi anyway) and most clerics say thunderball sucks and not to lvl it at all because it has similar channeling time to Wield Thunder, but damage out-put doesn't come nearly as close to Wield Thunder. So I recommend lvling that skill.

    Yeah, basically what everyone else said. If you go for -chann in some of your gears stream won't take as long to cast, I use it all the time if someone with a lot of hp is at about 75% hp. Wellspring is also useless on barbs and people of higher hp, so don't do that.
    I hardly ever use thunderball unless I'm in cube in open sesame rooms. It depends on your playstyle I suppose.

    Sage and demon clerics can both do pvp and pve just fine , its all about play style though. If your more about getting in and out quick and frying everything around you in the least amount of time as possible, go demon. Sage is more about making yourself more durable so you can survive long enough to take out the people around you, a few sage ih's(one thing i do believe is that sage ih IS better than demon, as far as im concerned tanks can bring their own god damn mana pots lol) stacked with sage vanguard and most melees have a hard time killing me,more so if im charmed.


    In short there really is no right answer, both are good options....but your leader saying WT is **** is just wrong. WT has .1 more of a chan and the exact same cast time, that's one tenth of a second...nothing, and it also has a 2 sec shorter cooldown compared to thunder ball.Although that's not to say thunder ball is bad

    Magic shell(for -20% chan)---->Elemental seal----> Thunderball(Thunder ball ticks dont wake the target up)----> Sleep

    It's a matter of opinion. But the reason people say Sage is PvE and Demon is PvP is because of the differences between the level 11 skills for demon and sage. Demon does more damage, Sage heals better. On the topic of Wield Thunder and Thunderball, she's wrong. Wield thunder is your best DD skill imo. Thunderball is just disgusting. I see cleric's use SoR effectively but it's a lot easier and quicker to just IH.

    lv100 dont matter anymore since pple can level up in a month. Ask her when she started playing lol
