Most Common Item Scams

I thought it might be a good idea to make a list of items which players are scammed with most, and which item is used in the scam. Two that I know of are the Lunar Glade Insignia: Weapon/Mystical Orb scam and the Perfect Token of Best Luck/Perfect Token of Luck scam...anyone have any other examples of similar/shared iconed items used in scams? I'll keep a list in this first post, and update it as often as I can.
~Lunar Glade Insignia: Weapon/Mystical Orb
~Perfect Token of Best Luck/Perfect Token of Luck
~Heart of Nature (TT100 red mat)/FB79 wine
~Championship Scroll/Resurrection Scroll, Pet rename scroll, etc.
~Frostcovered Sign: Force/Godwill Powder (apoth. item)
~Sapphire Gem/Frost Orb (apoth. item)
~Bracers of Blood Moon/Lvl 64 LA wrists, Forshura's Arm (TT mat)
This thread's purpose is to warn others before they find out the hard way.

Heart of Nature (TT100 red mat) and FB79 wine. How come, if someone asks a question in a forum, at least 13/20 posts answers the question in the same exact way, 5/20 word the exact same answer differently and 2/20 say something completely unrelated to both life and death?0

Not sure if it's a scam or not.
Shop half full of oracles priced at 32k except for the last stack which is priced at 320k.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
A good rule of thumb is that if something has to be shown in giant huge annoying red text it's probably not useful information.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Any other suggestion? Or are you just here to be a critic? Colors/size can be changed, I just figured that it was the best way to get the most important part of the post noticed.0 -
Championship Scroll - Pet renaming scroll or something.

While I understand that pricing scams occur a lot, the particular scams I am asking for are ones where a less expensive item with a similar/shared icon is substituted for an item worth much more.0

Bracer of Blood Moon and some DQ Item works as well...
Also Lunar Insignia Ornament and one of those orbs u manufacture at apothecaryAnd everything you gave me...vanished without a trace.
Royal Duelists.

This is a big problem and pretty much sums it up.
Maybe if they add Gold Stars or some kind of small icon attachment on items that are very Rare and very valuable. So item shops cannot scam people into paying hundreds if not thousands of times more than what their Common item is worth.0 -
I saw on the AH once, a page just of Flawless gems for 175,000 except for one that was 1,750,000. For someone just buying up abunch, easy for them to just click on it and buy out auction, and end up paying 10x the price if they were not careful. Its a scam that dont just pop up on this game, seen it happen in the AH of other games outside of PWI.
Item: Qty: Min Bid: Buyout:
ItemX (1) 75,000 100,000
ItemX (1) 75,000 100,000
ItemX (1) 75,000 100,000

ItemX (1) 75,000 100,000

Easy to fall for it if you are not watching for that extra 0, and buying out the auctions as fast as you can click. As in buying abunch of gems to fuse to a set of armor.
A variation of above is to put up stacks of an item, x10 for a price, then sell 1 of an item for the same price as the stack of 10.

Bracers of B.Moon have the same icon of lv.64 LA Bracers, and Forshura's Arms too.The only way to beat a troll is....to troll him back b:angry0 -
The fundamental way of beating scammers is to instead of have the shop layout like.
X X
Each X representing and item.
You have it as a list:
<name> <amount> <price>
<name> <amount> <price>
<name> <amount> <price>
<name> <amount> <price>
<name> <amount> <price>
and the shop is scrollable. This is probably too much effort for developers because coding is costly and time consuming, also making money is more important because watching ignorant users make mistakes is also priceless and we've all got to have a good laugh sometime. or laugh your **** off at miserable failures. But its cool to make a mistakes, cause then you get smarter unless you're Lindsay Lohan swearing off hard-drugs.
The second way is to change the icons, so people who are suffering from topographical agnosia or simultanagnosia to make the game disabled friendly not that it matters with the type of food people eat, the type of activities you do.
The third and more important way is hover your/leave your mouse cursor over the item you're going to buy, until there is a pop-up. There is no RUSH TO GET SAID ITEM, (*cough* OMG I JUST GOT SCAMMED WAH WAH WORLD CHAT...*cough*) and take you're time, it won't kill you..
If you buy it without thinking then you might as well walk-through the street blindfolded with a pack of starving lynx cats about to pounce on you. You're as stupid as a pillock. b:thanks

In my opinion the auction house should remain the way it is, it's easy to spot a rip off in there. The way catshops are made with item icons being identical needs to change. Why don't they make new icons for these few items? It shows a sort of cheap laziness to use the same icons for completely different items.0
-
Why don't people just pay closer attention to what they're buying? I get that accidents happen, sometimes you're in a hurry and are just being dumb about it. And, yeah, the game devs need to pull their finger out of their nose and give every item it's own icon. But really if you fall for a scam like these, it's at least partially your own fault. Double check what you're buying, double check the prices. No matter if it's in a trade, catshop or AH. If it's a trade and the person is rushing you, there's probably a reason for that.
Scammers are really just talentless idiots counting on the stupidity of others for their rip-offs to work. So what Kinjeto said is completely right and if you get ripped off, really it's your own fault. No point in QQing over it when all you had to do was double check before buying.0 -
