Sooo... Should I level my Barb? >_>

I did BH 51 on my level 65 Sin today. We couldn't find a Barb, so the BM that joined was gonna tank. There was an oopsie, not going to point fingers, blame anyone, or anything like that, but Fushma ended up rampaging through the squad, which didn't end in tears despite the cleric dieing, because we ALL had Mystic buffs. b:thanks

Anyway, I ended up tanking Fushma. No big deal, cleric realized and was IHing me like mad, and the mystic was healing me too (thank goodness, it was still ticking my charm every now and then).

So, no big deal. We went to Rankar, and due to another oopsie, I ended up killing the two walkers, and while doing that, the Wiz took aggro. He ran around like a headless chicken, until he died, then the BM died, and the mystic, and... I teled over and took aggro and sparked and held aggro for the entire rest of Wyvern's rather short life. I didn't need Wyvern, so I grabbed my BM to do that one...

Is this an indication taht I should just give up and play a Barb, since I end up tanking all the time? >_> Or should I continue doing what I'm doing with my Sin/BM and do tank builds with them (okay, BM is a fist/axe build, but I can tank well enough)?

    Sin and BM is the ultimate tank. Seekers are actually better, but BMs and Sins can tank just fine and kill so much faster.

    I also never even seen a pro squad use a barb unless that barb is 5.0.

    So yah aps is still a problem lol.
    AP classes are a real butt pounding...

    Yes and no. If a sin knows what they are doing or has really good gear, by all means, yes.

    If they dont know what they are doing and/or dont have good gear, dear god no.


    That said though, if you build the sin for a bit of hp and higher defenses, either through refines or gear itself, then you would be a fine tank for some things. Stuff such as bhs (not including 69, though ive seen pro sins do it) or frost, a good sin is decent for a tank. As a cleric I still prefer a HA class, and no matter aps or not, I prefer barbs over anything, but sins are nice to heal because you rarely have to worry about aggro battles... a sin will almost always keep it.

    my 63 sin can tank bh51, though it gets dicey at times

    granted, i am pretty well sharded and geared for my level though

    though if you want to find fast squads, barb is good, though idk how much they are needed at high levels

    Okay... Makes it easier, i guess. I've got rank gear/Blood Moon Bracers/Legendary armor/Daggers/TT Daggers so... I like gear. Everything is refined, and I beg, buy, or farm shards for everything. Some of this armor is hand-downs from my Archer anyway, as is my The Penetrator bow (and 2 socket +4 Unicorn).

    I guess I'll continue my tank build then... I haven't put in a ridiculous amount of vit, but I plan to stop now. I've got 3900 unbuffed HP. It's about... 2-3X more HP than most sins I run into in BH's. XD

    In the cleric's seat, I always feel better when a barb's in squad, even if that does mean DDs have to hold back a bit. Barbs just soak up damage like no other class... I always feel like I'm on a knife's edge when I'm healing a Sin or fist BM tank. b:surrender

    That said, I started a barb about a month ago because of this very frustration about there being none around. He started his first BHes this week, and so far, it's a breath of fresh air just to be able to play something that can take a hit. b:chuckle

    Aggro management has become a huge problem since APS became a widespread build. Sins can deal damage with the best of them, but they're not equipped to handle large groups at once. No AoEs means that if a DD overdamages, or a cleric doesn't pay attention and catches heal aggro, things can get messy fast. But damage tanks are the way of the game now, so if you just gear the Sin for tanking, it'll probably be handier at high levels than a classic-build barb.

    I agree... If there's a sin in my nirvana squad with anything below top gear, they take aggro and cannot stay alive. I click them to heal and they're already dead because they've been 2 shot. How is that a good tank? I say level barb, I like barbs. b:chuckle

    I'd stick with the barb. Ultimately they can be 5aps too, and although they aren't the best 5aps, most interval squads will accept you anyways.

    Besides, it's gonna be insanely easy to level the barb. You simply charge 100k per frost run, you can be selective in your squads as you like, and you'll get to a higher lvl much faster than your sin ever would.


    Besides, sins = PWI on easy mode, and you don't want to play on easy mode do you?

    As Rawrgh said before there is little difference in DMG between 5 APS Bm and 5APS Barb and barbs have more HP with same gears then a BM or SIN with same refine

    Demon DBB+mastery makes a +10 bm out dd a +12 barb (with same fist). So....

    Honestly... i love barbs when i'm on my sin or cleric.

    1. their buffs b:dirty

    2. they take hits. a LOT.

    3. They can pull.

    4. They're furry/fuzzy.

    Yeah depends on how dead your server is. You might find different results. I find Raging Tides to be reasonable for FC parties. I don't know about the other servers. Get 4 APS and you can darn well solo FC. Yes Im working on converting my barb 1 or 2 books to go and Im demon.

    So much hand-down armor and axes waiting for it anyway. b:shocked I have gear through level 70 already for this poor rug. I should just get it over-with... Then I can hand the armor and swords over to my Seeker (yeah, I used swords on my BM).

    BMs and Barbs match up well with their various damage oriented skills its true, but Barbs (or archers for that matter) still have no real answer for fist mastery (permanent 75% increase to fist/claw dmg with demon). Sorry. b:bye

    Just thought I'd add my recent experience. I've been working on my barb, I certainly have yet to have a dull moment. I am in an active faction, so that helps, but I often get pm'd from strangers as well looking for a barb for many things.

    Bottom line is play the class you enjoy playing. Only drawback I can see to barb atm is possibly having a hard time finding nirvy squads at 100 if I don't switch to an aps build. All the same if you find a good faction you'll find squads regardless what class you play. Personally I enjoy playing the barb, and find I'm always wanted for something. Granted the class is expensive to play, but let's be honest, what class isn't expensive as you near end game :P

    Blazing Arrow and Poison Fang both have a 15 minute duration. I'd say that's more than enough.

    And if you're not comparing fully buffed characters, then the barb has +40% from Titans.

    Selfbuffed barb versus self buffed BM at 5.0 = its pretty much even in terms of dps.

    Titans Strength and Poison fang makes up for Fist Mastery. I know people with both Barb/BM on same account wearing same gear, they even claim the barb hits harder at 5.0 when soloing selfbuffed.

    Its only when you're self buffed though and a BM can just grab Titans Strength from any random Tiger and get higher attack of course. Barbs cant HF either, so a BM would kill a boss faster b:surrender

    Still nice having your own barb, i would keep leveling it to 90+ at least. You can always use it to buff other chars for cube/other instances/pvp etc when you get bored of playing it. Barb is probably the fastest class to level as well, since you can run 10 Frosts a day and never have to wait for BH parties.

    lol I agree with everyone that has said play what you are interested in most. It's a game with many different races/classes. Try all of them and see what you like best and go with that. But yeah, it is a problem now that barbs all seem to have disappeared. They either all raced/cash-shopped their way to 100+ and quit or they're all being hermits in FCC or Nirvana. Lucky for me, my boyfriend is a barb b:victory

    And as far as the aps thing goes...yeah I'm tired of it. I'm a long-time player since Oct '08 so I find all these new aps things just a waste of money and time. Don't need it to be the best. It's an MMO. It's a game lol Y so srs?

    Oh and a barb with aps? lol Barbs are TANKERS. They don't need aps lol Sure I can see classes with high dex like archers and BMs wanting aps but not barbs. These are big bulky masses of HP and defense. They don't need to hit that fast. They just have to take hits and control their opponent. I'm just sayin...

    What the heck is your build? My sin got 4k unbuffed hp at lvl 78 and that`s pretty much(Rank gear with flawless citrines, warsoul helm, 4soc tauren with immas...). Do you add vit or how the heck you got that much hp?

    I`m sorry but I believe you lack either any experience of 10x squads or brain capacity to play this game. First of all, TT3-3 is in means of farmable impossible with old school axe barb, reason? You gotta kill some bosses before they kill you or have basically full R9/Nirvana squad with high refines & shards. And I`m not even exaggerating, 3-3 is nuts, the only way I can see the hard bosses farmed is aps squad that kill the boss in few sparks. Funny example, we did 3-3 steelation, the green smurf, 2 times we wiped with sins having the "chance to receive 1 dmg" instead of "chance to resist status ailments", when they changed that, it went "smoothly". It`s not about surviving, it`s about killing the boss before he kills you.

    Second problem is barbs cant hold aggro from aps, even 2aps sins with R8 are ridiculous in terms of aggro. Sure, some might say aps should tank then, well, you wanna tell R8 archer to tank with bow? As for putting it simply, barb wont keep aggro from one, the aggro skills of barbs are simply downright broken. Reason why my barb was clawbarb was cause I could not keep aggro by other means, it was either claws of stop even trying to tank. I reseted back to axes as my activity was basically too low to farm anything and I felt like doing TWs. But then again, I got sin I`ve been leveling, with 200k rep, so farming issue will be fixed with that.

    Well grats to you for cash shopping. And furthermore, I have as much brain capacity as you to play a game, thank you very much. Only reason people know about aps anyway is because of pservers. I have been in 10x squads and I have been in the higher TT instances. What did people do before aps and things like that when the game first started before all this cash shopping stuff. Anyway I'm not making an argument of this so I will end it right here. I was merely stating my opinion, which I am entitled to. That's all.

    Highly refined: Wings of Cloudcharger Cape, Bracers of Blood Moon, Lion spirit helm and you get 4k+ hp at 65. Add a Love Up and Down/some other high level tome, vit gems in the cape and everything 4 sockets you reach 5k b:chuckle

    If not she probably has a bit of vit in the build.

    yes, but to get high HP you need to lower out your damage or use shards for it, and you'll still need a barb to buff that, my 67 sin is getting there already, but I'm not sharded, nor do I have "good gear"
