Do you want people to use the gender pronoun of your toon, or your actual gender?

Blahh. Maybe I can make it a little clearer since the title sounds confusing. Say you had a girl toon, and you were a guy irl, when people call you a she, do you correct them, or do you let them call you a she? Vice versa for girls.

Personally I used to correct people, and tell them I'm a guy, but lately, I really don't care. I'll just go along that since my toon is a girl. Plus, it's wasted time since I don't think people would remember if I was a guy or not.

Sorry if this is in the wrong place, just figured it would be here since it's general discussion, and this is something to discuss XD

usually I correct them, I make it fairly obvious I'm a guy. especially if we get along in whatever run we're doing and will be likely to do more
I'm a guy, not a woman, that is all

i'd prefer if people used my RL gender, but it's not a strong preference and not something i get riled up over. i politely correct people once or twice, but i don't harp on it. i know there're people who insist on using the character's gender, and if it were a huge deal to me i probably wouldn't have made my various characters deliberately half of each gender...

My toon's gender is my rl gender, but because there are notoriously so many archer trannies, It gets confused with new people I meet anyway.

Especially if their first impression is me talking about **** in faction chat(which I tend to do often). Also, because one of my common nicknames is "burrito" people tend to assume I'm a boy, because apparently a girl would never be named after food -.-

Sometimes they still don't believe me even after I correct them :/

Then its time to bust out the photographsb:sin(jk)

venos and barbs, gender locked makes it kind of annoying, and they NEED something to seperate the genders with them. a little symbol or color of the icons would work well, I'm sure. Of course I'm the one that can go through a full run calling the barb "bro" and not get corrected till after we're out so.. *shrugs*

(I prefer being corrected actually. make myself look less stupid to those that know lol)

I play female characters for a few reasons, but the first and foremost. Why would I want to look at a guy all day? I like the way Psytrac looks, and my sin follows suit with the same style and everything.

I agree with the reason below.

I think if I made a couple of friends on here, I would tell them my actual gender. Everyone else can just call me by my toon gender.

I just let people call me whatever gender my current toon is. If we become friends I can define my gender for them but really, it doesn't matter to me. I get mistaken for a guy a lot anyway. Still not really sure why...

Oh look, it's this thread again... but anyway, I don't mind being called "she" or "her" since I know they are referring to my female character and not me personally.

I don't really care if i am called he or she by random people, for people I squad regulary, friends and faction I make sure they know my real gender, and if asked by anyone i will be honest about it as well
But it would be to tiresome if I had to tell every random (who I will squad once) my rl gender

It doesn't really matter. Even if you have a female char and is female irl, you will be called "him" or "he" by pretty much everyone that doesn't know you. I would never even bother correcting people. I cant care less if some person thinks him a girl or guy irl. Its not like you're gonna get special treatment by randoms just for being female, some looser might start to hit on you in PM, but thats about it. Its more annoying than anything so might just let people assume you're male.

If you're a guy playing a female char you will be called "him" most of the times to. Very rarely you will see someone go "Hey im a dude". Seems most guys with a female chars likes to be called "her"... and being embraced, wearing **** fashion while acting girly lol, its pretty cute b:chuckle.

I normally call people by their in-game name anyway, its more personal than just saying "he" or "she" and you wont get corrected about genders.

I call everyone shemales till corrected, and then I take note of it. Easier that way, the list stays smaller.

I always call someone by the gender of his/her toon, simply cause I can never remember wether or not someone is different IRL.
I asume people do the same for my toons, even though I make it clear that I'm a guy (not calling everyone saying I'm a guy, but I don't make it a secret). Note, that last is only on my girl toons, obviusly XD

If I see a name in facchat that doesn't directly make the gender clear, I always call that person a he

My only male toon is my Barb, but that's not really a preference based on the fact that I'm a girl irl. It's more because I like female fashion better. b:chuckle

A character is the front you present to the rest of the players. As such, expecting them to know your gender differs (even if you're a veno or barb!) is rather unreasonable unless you tell them outright. This is particularly true if your class isn't one of the gender-locked ones, yet you still play opposite gender... the only way for people to not identify you as the gender of the toon is to tell them outright, and that gets veery tedious in random squads.

I actually make a game of it on my barb... I use more 'mannish' smileys ( b:laugh as opposed to b:chuckle ), and say stuff like "hey" instead of "hiya". I'm usually very bubbly and giggly in squad, so it's interesting for me to act... guyish. Then, I see if I can keep it up until the end of the instance. The squad is rarely tipped off by just standard play and conversation, so it's more of a challenge for me not to use one too many XDs and b:chuckle s.

It's much more fun than putting "guyveno" or "girlbarb" in the name, and people still getting it wrong, anyway. b:surrender

it used to annoy the hell outta me when i saw a hot ''female'' then it turned out to be a guy lol. Then they talk about how they make female chars so they have something nice to look at ... lol ok i guess. Then they take it further and say that ''oh guy characters look ***'' D:< ur character creation skills r *** b:scorn ..lol no but i cant play female characters, i tried playing a veno once and got annoyed at the ammount of guys trying to hit on me and i didnt wanna keep telling everyone im a guy every second so i tried convincing my self that i was just playing hard to get... lol and then i just quit and stick to being male and if i really wanted something ''nice to look at '' or to ''look up someone's skirt'' -_- , then i would just look out for the fine looking females in pw b:sin . And then hope that they dont have male genit-b:shutup

Beauty of the internet is you can be who you want to be...It dont really bother me if a guy pretends to be a girl or a girl pretends to be a guy I think the only people it does bother is the ones after cyber sex and I learnt my lesson with that after I broke two cd roms trying it out.

think of it this way: what would YOU rather look at all day?

also I've had so many people hitting on my barb and my other male characters that I got sick of it real quick, so I made a female to make it much easier on myself. ("sorry, I'm a guy" ends flirting real quick)

I guess I'd rather look at a girl if all I'm doing is playing with myself all day. lol. I usually am paying attention to other people in the game and I don't have any problems with h0mophobia or having to look at my male characters. I don't get aroused by manga or 3d avatars so I'd rather just play my gender.
