From seconds per attack, to attacks per second.

OK, I'm a wiz. Been a wiz for years. I love my wiz. But we have nothing to do endgame.

So I leved a claw barb. Alot of my endgame wizard gear worked well on my barb and let me basically have a claw build from level 1 (gear with vit stones @ lvl 45, highly refined pdef ornaments, etc.)

I just went demon last night (lvl 89, yea me) and I am doing ok, but still feel like I'm not getting the full benefit outta my skills, etc. As a sage wizard, I am used to having a good bit of chi, and as a barb (still tanking alot in tiger form - 2 aps isn't as good for holding aggro as tiger, lol) I seem to always be out.

As a wiz, I am used to doing bosses with macros, including sparks, debuffs, etc. As a barb, any macro I try to make without ALOT of normal attacks seems to run outta chi.

All tolled, I have run most instances 1,000 times on my wizard, so I figured out cancelling attacks, invoking, roar, all the basic stuff well enough, and more than once I have been in squads with higher levels and they said they were surprised I did as well given my lower level and my build (fc fists and ax atm - no 16,000 hp for me).

Also, I plan on just using my barb for pve. I may pvp a little with it post 100, idk, but I won't care if I am not built to pvp on my barb.

Anywho, I just thought I would ask a few (ok, a little more than a few) specific questions that I am having trouble finding precise answers to on this forum.

1. Are there any macros that work good enough for tanking normal (no sleeps or other diables) bosses without running out of chi and without just using flesh ream and the majority of the rest just normal attacks?

2. When going up to a boss, is there a particular sequence of attacks that works best for building/holding aggro, regardless of whether it fits in a macro?

3. To solo effectively, can you do it with something less than 5 aps? What's the lowest (prior to demon spark) that would work? I don't care if I have to have a few charm ticks, or if I have to pot a little.

4. Similar to #3 above, is it a big mistake to get the TT90 wrists for interval (i.e. wait for the tt99 and the set bonus or your a fail clawbarb)?

5. As I said, I have some decent end game pdef ornaments. For PVE, are those good enough, or should I look for some OHT elemental ornaments? So far, they've been great. Just wondering about some bosses, etc. with pdef ornaments. See #6 below too. Light armor will give me a little bump in magic resistance, and I am not planning on doing pk or tw on this barb.

6. I am also leveling an archer on the same account as well, so for the interval wrists (or tt99 wrists/boots), I am leaning towards using the light armor version. Mistake? The fact that I am likely going to be using pdef ornaments (either my wiz's cube neck and warsong belt, or the TT99 HA ornaments) mitigate that somewhat?

7, If I am only getting 6 or so demon skills, which ones are most important for pve? Since I am a claw barb, 90% of my boss tanking will probably be skillless anyway.

barb wears wizards gear? are you arcane barb - or ha wiz? or LA both?
the only level 45 gear i can think of that would have vit stones that early on is Wings of Cloudcharger.. is that what you meant by "wizards gear"?

Any rate:
1. I used to use a self sustaining, auto canceling, aggro holding macro for my hours long TT runs.. But this was before I leveled Alacrity of the beast past 8, before crazy APS players came in to the game and required more reaming to hold aggro (thus it became a game of ream more, and hope you can get a cancel in) yes my macro did have a few normals in it - but I was also at base attack rate of .83 - completely capable of keeping chi up for reaming on ? bosses and holding aggro (BH bosses I couldnt use that macro on TBH). Try searching farther back for keyword "macro" in barb forums, I'm sure you can dig it up and try it. Though tbh, with a higher APS and level of Alacrity, the cancel part wont work (if that is what you were wanting) otherwise.. just experiment.

2. Alacrity -> ream
If your squad is hitting boss before you ream, they fail. if they take aggro - they will learn to wait.

3. i solo TT as an axe barb without using pots or charm - ToP and high HP FTW. APS is not necessary to solo lol. or did you mean "fast"? well.. obviously the more APS and higher refined your weapon is - the faster it will be.

4. If you really really really wanted to be a claw barb, I would have waited till you hypered your barb to 99 or 100 and then gold the 99 gold bonuses for farming (IMO)

5. OH.. it seems you answered my question above here.. interval players use 2x Ashura and 2x lionheart to get the -int bonuses from both sets. might as well (as LA wearing barb) keep using pdef ornaments in order to get used to the kind of defenses youd have.

6. Again.. 2x ashura / 2x lionheart = total of -.1

7. Strength of Titans and Beast King's Inspiration. If you actually plan to use tiger form for some stuff get True form and Devour. Perhaps Sunder and Bestial Onslaught. Though some might say get penetrate armor as a humanoid pdef debuff you can use while standing (swap weapon, penetrate, swap back)

Welcome to demon barb, your days of chi problems are over.

I think the days a good barb could use a macro are over. A few reasons for that, and you've already discovered two. One, timing Alacracity is hard to fit into a macro. Leaving Alacracity at level 7 helps with this since most bosses attack around 3 times and then magic attack so the 9 second cooldown is perfect for learning but if you already know their timing I'd get to level 10. Second reason is chi consumption. Beastial Rage should be spammed as often as possible, but as an instant skill it will interupt a macro. Lastly, Devour is a sexy sexy skill but will cause you to lose aggro to better DDs who get more benefit from the bosses lowered pdef, so I Devour as often as I can without losing aggro and that eats up chi, as well as takes a feel for the squad and watching so you don't debuff during a sins spark during and HF and lose aggro to a soon-to-be-dead fishy.

Furthermore, you're a fist barb? Why are you tanking in tiger form? Standing up and fisting might hold better aggro. You want a macro for that?

Run to boss in tiger, FR, Alacracity interupt their first magic attack, devour, stand up and spark. (set macro now) auto attack-> triple spark till its dead.

Barbs can solo TT pretty effectively with less than 5 aps because of invoke and bloodpaint. Basically, triple spark and attack as many time as you can before hp gets low, then invoke and attack until your hp is full. Bloodpaint + fists+ invoke = full hp no matter what.

Someones gotta say it. Cube neck and warsong belt are awesome pieces to have but if you had a choice I'd switch them to mdef for your barb. Pdef for your archer and wizzy though. Conundrum. If you continue using pdef ornies you may consider CoA ring as a gear piece to refine for mdef.

Lvl 90 bracers: I'd recommend TT90 HA bracers for your barb. If you plan on sharing with your archer I'd recommend buying DQ 60 Bracers of Blood Moon. There is more pdef on them than the TT90 LA and they're resellable. You can use them now on your barb at level 89, and I don't know what lvl your archer is but 30 levels earlier may help.

6 Demon Skills: Gotta go with your buffs, BKI and Titans. Trueform for pulls is awesome, because of the speed increase you take much less damage and when aoeing zhen groups in tiger form your dmg won't be reduced. Beastial Rage for more chi. Mobs die quicker at high levels so getting back sparks before the mobs die is vital. Roar is also awesome in for its 100% bramble (stronger than a venos bramble) for holding aggro in pulls. Increased Devour time will mean you can Devour, + spark and get more of your spark on 50% pdef reduction. Those are my choices but honorable mention to Beastial Onslaught for a standing crit rate increase for some serious dmg, as well as Sunder + Arma for insane (insane) zhenning damage when both your hard hitting Sunder and your harder hitting Arma are going to be guaranteed crits.

cloudcharger with 4 vit stones, pdef event neck and belt, voidlands tome - was thinking i would even use the arcane warsoul helm with citrine gems till I saw that i did better with one of the legendary helms. I know these are not going to be his endgame stuff, but they've gotten me through pretty well considering i was built for claws/fists from day 1 so I wouldn't have to restat that many points.

Have a macro for that, but since I only have -.05 lvl 6x wrists atm and -.05 fc fists, I'm only 2.2 demon sparked, so at lvl 91 I am still doing ALOT of tanking in tiger.

I had a lunar cape trophy, but I traded it for lunar claws +10m (I got the claws + 10m). So at 95, I'll have an extra -.05 over what I would have had with the cape, but I have to wait a few more levels for it.

now, if I could only get enough people that want to run 69 trophy mode, qq

Yes, I know. Eventually I will use mdef ornaments maybe, but I ultimately want the 99 HA ornaments for the interval anyway. I knew I was going to do this so when I got 3rd map on my wizard I got the mdef belt so I can account stash it.

As for rings, thats another issue. I'm using 2 misty forest rings and I never miss. Should I be looking at maybe one CoA ring and one lunar might ring? Any other possibilities/recommendations?

Tough to find those, even tougher to make. Just going to use my -.05 6x wrists until I get to 99. Shouldn't take long.

As I'm assuming this is purely PvE, you don't need to get +accuracy on rings, just glitch with penetrate armour / devour to always hit on mobs.

The attendance rings are very good, low budget, rings with +100 patk.

As for glitching, i probably won't be doing much of that, since I don't know what your talking about and would probably have to spend a good bit of time trying to find it and then actually learn how to do it, and I am sure that are some out there that don't and just rely on their rings.

With dex as high as mine will be (like 193 or something for lunar claws) I guess I am wondering if I need to worry about accuracy on one or both rings going forward.

It's not really something you have to do. It's basically whenever you've managed to land a hit with penetrate armor or devour on a mob (or boss), every hit thereafter will hit 100%

I knew I was going to do this so when I got 3rd map on my wizard I got the mdef belt so I can account stash it.

Third map belt is garbage. A demon slaughter belt would be better to use until you get 4th map belt.

i tried so far single mode TT 1-3 with sage BP and 2.86 aps sparked - horrible drops and many pots

i successfully did TT2-2 high mode in duo with cleric uncharmed - 2h long (died one time at General Wurlord because i had a crappy genie - these boss love's to make me eat hp food b:sad - on me but the rest of the bosses are easy and boring )

will try TT 2-3 to see how it goes (uncharned of course b:laugh)

If I wanted to run in a squad, I wouldn't have done this build. Or even made a barb in the first place. Certainly not a claw barb.

Third map belt was free, and already in my bank. For someone who has a barb that is their main, or plans on pvp'ing with it, you very well may be right.

Update: I am like 2.86 or something with lunar claws and with double drops I was able to do fairly well with 2-3 and 3-1 even in solo mode. Regardless of profit from drops though, it is terribly fun to actually be able to solo a dungeon for a change. It just proves that -int really does imbalance the game pve-wise at least. But unlike some, I see no sense in qq'ing about it - find a way to play that is fun or go to another game. In terms of implementing change? Noone is listening, so get over it.

He he same working on my TT99 now but i duo TT2-2 so far (with Bm buff Wurlord is much easier) and i recommend u find a good cleric i will try TT2-3 today to see how it goes.

You might want to use beastial rage inbetween the macros.. which totally defeat the purpose of having one. b:laugh

Glad you make it so far already.

I am interested in what your barb is like now. 4 more levels you probably be the same as any other claw barb once you get your gear.
