How does Bloodpaint work exactly?
Hi everyone,
I've never played an Assassin before, and I'm wanting to maybe start one, so I've been looking through skills and descriptions, and builds, and other information, and I have a few questions...
According to the description, Bloodpaint "absorbs" 2% of damage. Now from what I've read on the forums and a couple of other places, this actually means that you are healed by 2% of the amount of your damage output. But I'm confused about a couple if things with it...
1. Does the healing trigger on total damage, including skill damage, or does it only trigger on weapon damage?
2. Does it trigger on skill attack at all? (Obviously, if it triggers on skill damage, then it must trigger on skill attacks, so this question may be irrelevant, depending on the answer to question 1).
3. If it does trigger on skill attacks *and* on full skill damage, then obviously you would get the greatest amount of healing by having the highest possible DPS, so does an APS Sin have higher DPS, or does a DPH Sin have higher overall DPS, or does some sort of hybrid have the highest DPS? (And again, it should be obvious that if Bloodpaint does *not* trigger on skills or on full skill damage, then the healing would be served best by a 5APS build).
I just want to understand the mechanics a little better.
Thanks,
Kyouchou

Any damage * .02 (2%) to your HP.Currently: pwcalc.com/b4c92dacf1da8c210 -
Awesome, thanks much.
Also, when you or anyone else under the effects of Bloodpaint (such as a Seeker) use an AoE skill, like Subsea Strike, do you get healed for each target hit, or just once?0 -
You will be compensated in health for every target hit. So yes bp can be used in aoe to gain hp back.I can see what you see not,
Vision milky, then eyes rot.
When you turn, they will be gone,
Whispering their hidden song.
Then you see what cannot be,
Shadows move where light should be.
Out of darkness, out of mind,
Cast down into the Halls of the Blind.0 -
As it has already been answered, I guess I will word it in another way.
As long as it is a melee hit, it will heal you.
Example:
30 mobs in an FC pull
You physical AoE them with BP on
You hit 15,000 per mob
15,000 * .02 = 300 * 30 = 9000 health healed.
And you will be spammed with "Bloodsuck 300" above your character's head for a while.[SIGPIC]Octavia is best pony[/SIGPIC]

Until you start AoEing for 100k+ per mob. That's sexier.0 -
I don't have Condensed Thorn yet, but does the added magic damage come back to you as paint heal? Or is it only physical damage absorbed?Seven 100+ characters leveled the hard way. Free to play. Mystic, Psychic, and Wizard left to level. b:victory0

Any damage that shows up in your damage log while using a melee weapon counts. This means added magic damage is included but damage over time effects are not.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Spam of "Bloodsuck 1000+" is sexier b:dirty
I wanna AOE for 100k+ per mob...
And as for question 3, any damage you do gives hp back so a DPS sin would probably have the highest advantage. Alot of people just build APS sins and dont seem to think about it, but Damage > Speed...
And just two other notes, Sage Bloodpaint's description is worded incorrectly, it says "The health absorbing effect is increased by 3%" it is actually "to 3%". You may have already known that though
And when I have bloodpaint on my seeker, those mobs better watch out! BP + Vortex, also very sexy b:dirty can do the tanking and DDing for the exp room in FC clericless at 80 in two halfs just with regular BP on lol...makes me wish sin and seeker were on different accounts so I could buff myself with Sage BP and try stuff out b:dirty0 -
I meant just Bloodsuck spam from massive aoe in general b:surrenderDemon_Troll: "takes on the appearance of an innocent archer but turns into a mindless idiot once you hear him speak"

I'm wondering...
Can Seekers solo pulls in FC? Since they have BP, they could just gather up a pull, and just vortex away right?[SIGPIC]Octavia is best pony[/SIGPIC]

Yep, they just need to survive on theyr own until they get Vortext up and running.
Which usually isn't a problem, seeing as Seeker is HA and has defence lvl buf9 out of 10 voices in my head say I'm not crazy... the 10th is singing the music of tetris0
