Regarding the "Top 52" Thread

This probably has been hashed and rehashed multiple times on forums so I'll attempt to give a concise opinion.
The term "Top" is vague and will always be bound to offend people.
1. If top refers to level, then that, in today's metagame, is of no significant importance.
2. If top refers to gear, then that too is subject to tedium and dispute.
3. And finally if top refers to player skill, than a objective opinion is hard to isolate because skill seems very much defined by gear (and previously by level).
It would be wise to reword the concept to "Dreamweaver's most influential 52." or as what I believe Elenderia pointed out "The Hall of Fame."
To avoid shortchanging players both current and old, the list should be a healthy combination of players across different eras who have contributed to the metagame and influenced the course of this server.
And in that case, before we start reciting the history of guild leaders, lets think of other influential players that didn't always stand in the spotlight. I'd start first with Lieal who pioneered the weekly TW report for this server and then Thrivella for continuing the idea with much vigor. Followed, closely of course, by Matthew who paved the way for the concept of Fist BM.
Again this is your [DreamWeaver] deck of cards not mine. Do as you wish.

Yes. Always appreciative on Lieal's TW reports as biased towards Cala as it seemed sometimes.0 -
i think the other thread is stupid anyway cause many of them shine through their gear then through their "skills". and their "popularity" is relative, it can be negative as wellIf i m trolling and spamming on forum...then i cant sleep and need a good laugh0

In reality the concept wasn't poor but the execution was.
People griped because it was named "DreamWeaver's top 52" when the opinion pool it drew off of was limited to just a couple people.
Realistically it should have be named "Lightaine's top 30 veterans" for accuracy.
I like the concept as it would be something interesting to see. Obviously there will be disagreements but with some foresight and thinking (as opposed to naming off names without reason), much of it could be avoided.0 -
Very well spoken Seraphim, I couldn't have said it any better.0

The fact remains that it will always be based on opinion and it will never be a "proper" list. There will always be someone to argue who should and shouldn't be on there, no matter how they went about compiling it. Like I said in the other thread, I don't even know how I made it on the list, although i'm flattered to have even been considered by it. As far as I can tell it's less of a "Top 52" and more of a popularity contest. Whatever. Either way, it would never be an exact science.
Either way, it's all for a deck of cards. So. For people to get upset about it is silly anyway. It's not like we're going to get a deck of these cards after all.0 -
Hi Sera... Hi Ele... Hi Dreamweaver... b:kiss b:kiss b:kiss0

Tops are relative.
Bottoms are a must. You can get arrested for indecent exposure without a bottom.
I know, bad joke. It's 10 am.
Anyways, hi Seraphim, you should come back. Because like, that poison ivy story in Queens is still lingering in my head. And I need a new story to get that one out.Censorship is the bane of creativity. Censorship is the bane of personality. Most of all...censorship is the bane of identity.
My main is Ivy_. I'm better known as Destini. Also known as _Yvi. Yes, I have an identity crisis. b:chuckle

Everything has its beginnings, but it doesn't start at one. It starts long before that... The world is born From zero. The moment zero becomes one is the moment the world springs to life. One becomes 2. 2 becomes 10. 10 becomes 100. taking it all back to one solves nothing. so long as zero remains... One.. Will eventually grow to 100 again.0 -

Hai sera b:cuteSins are Scissors. Psychics are Rocks.
Archers, Venos, Barbs, Wizards, BMs, Mystics, Seekers are Paper.
...and Clerics are Mushrooms.
Paper beats Rock. Scissors beats Paper. Scissors also happens to beat Rock...until Rock gets 50k+ soulforce at which point Rock becomes an unstoppable killing machine that beats Paper... and would beat Scissors but it can't find Scissors, because Scissors are invisible.
So Scissors beat Paper and avoids Rock, and that is called BALANCE. -cheze0 -
