Trash Talking

Greetings :)

I am a Scientist by profession. This means I was trained to be curious hehe.

I have often wondered at the "trash talking" phenomenon. It seems to have quite complicated dimensions that I would like to explore by having this survey.

It is quite simple, just choose the word the best fits your general trash talking style. I realize that it may change depending on who, what, where and when the trashing occurs.

If you want to expand on your views of the why's and how's feel free :)

For example... When I do trash talk, I favor the "flirty" style. To me this is fun and usually makes me smile :)

    aggressive has 2 g's.

    And I trash talk to people who trash talk me so it's usually mean. But it doesn't really happen that often. Most of the time they're quips are so BR that it's not even worth my time deciphering what they're trying to say. I'd prefer to trash talk them via the forums when (read if) they manage to piece a coherent statement together.

    As for Trash Talk I only do it if they start it so I guess I'm under Defensive >.>....Then again I can turn it back on them so it goes from Defensive to Funny.

    I never really trash talked much. I was never good enough to have much to talk about. When I did, it was usually in response to someone who started it themselves and either didn't make sense or couldn't back it up. You know the types:

    * The ones who lose and call you a noob.
    * The ones who say "Nobody in YaKuZa can handle me!" and then lose 3 TW's in a row and rage quit their faction (he was right but never seemed to grasp that TW isn't an individual sport).
    * The ones who 1-shot your level 3x psychic with their level 101 wizard and then taunt you.
    * The ones who try to PK you, lose, and then threaten to come back with their mains.

    etc.

    I usually just ignore,blacklist people who trash talk to me but sometimes i can be a little mean :p

    ok. imma contribute to his observation, since I like doing that myself.

    Mostly, I find the trash talk funny. Some WC drama while killing xxx mobs is fun! (unless it goes for hours and nothing new is added)
    Sometimes my friends and I do it and we get great laughs.

    Flirty? Hmm... I don't think so.

    Mean - I can see how some bully can be mean to a person with weak personality irl...

    Aggressive, yea, sure. When you get threatened by "imma find you irl and torture you so you will beg me to kill you"...

    Defensive. I do that too, when some noob pops out of nowhere and starts arguing about something he/she has no clue about.

    [Funny - 90%
    Flirty - 5%
    Mean 20%
    Aggressive - 50%
    Defensive - 70%]

    i trash talk alot and most of the time i make it funny, like trash talking on about religions and vegetarians. how stupid are they to worship the non-existence, and how stupid are vegetarians not eating meat?

    and of course i do flirty trash talks as well, especially with SwEeT_PaiN and Lady_Alyssa.

    hm.... i think i only trash talk when someone is doing it to me. so i guess that makes me defensive.

    or when someone thinks that there way is the only right one..... its a serious pet peiv of mine and i cant stand it b:angry

    I met a vengeful bm exactly like this earlier today. Apparently im weak for not being able to 1 shot a +10 geared bm with my sin. Eventually trolled the hell out of her begging for forgiveness and making her believe I was a bible bashing 6 year old who would commit suicide if she didn't accept my apology. b:shocked

    For the most part, i don't talk much when kill ppl or be killed by ppl. Becos the ACTION of what just happened speaks the LOUDEST.

    But...i will trash talk or make joke if ppl talk FIRST or if it someone who hasn't earned my respect on the field yet.

    So, i myself dunno wich type i am.....Minx if i fit into any, lemme know and i vote accordingly:)

    edit: The most irritating trashtalk is the person DEAD and corpse still talking "hahah u noob, r9 and u still had to use genie/2shots/whatever"

    Kinda Defensive I guess - will respond to sht. Most ppl prolly a bit of everything :)

    "dead man talking" is funny as hell LOL

    "your charmed, buffed etc etc whine whine..." all as excuses for why you won and they lost. If the game allows it in PvP then all's fair IMO I think it only Pro to have any and all assets entering a fight.

    Wheres the polite option? I like to ask people when they are done QQ'ing then. Especially low level blood red sins complaining about getting killed..
