Gale Force is ruined

It used to be such an awesome aoe that could stun (by % chance) and dmg at the same time. Now it makes the mobs run away! And for instances that involve parties, that can get annoying for other aoe attackers.

My advice, keep it at level one just in case you solo or party members accidentally run into numerous mobs and then just use Gale Force to make the mobs run away so people have a chance to escape. Other than that, I would never use it unless it's an emergency.

If they removed any special effect on Gale Force so that it only did aoe dmg, I would be sad but not disappointed to the point of hardly ever using the skill.

Anyone agree or maybe I'm missing something?

An Aoe seal seems pretty badass in TW/group PK, just sayin'.

Eh, I agree with you. We don't need two aoe seal/freezes, but we do need at least one reliable aoe. I'd rather have gale with no effect, or just freeze.

i still use it in FC. i dont have many complaints with using the skill. it does suck when they run away though, but theres nothing we can do. perhaps putting down spidervine (for the slow) can make the mobs run away slower?

Of course it was. It kind of felt a little bit like Roar of the Pride from BMs, only the stun isn't 100%.

Regardless, party members have complained, and I don't blame them. I noticed people complaining when I unknowingly used it (even they didn't know it was me), but then it took me a while to realize it was my skill that made all the mobs run away.

This isn't really that hard to work around. Use gale right as the BM casts his stun, the mobs will be unsealed by the time roar is over. Another thing you can do is to triple spark + gale. 20-40k damage to everything around you? most mobs will be dead by the time roar wears off.

I have had some complaints in fcc, but it's not nearly as bad if you warn the squad ahead of time. Frankly the mobs running away lessen the continuous damage a bit on the tanker, and they run right back after the seal is over anyway. The seal does not last very long either, so unless somebody goes chasing after one of the mobs, it's not really that big of a deal.

    My opinions:

Yes level it, the damage and the seal/freeze is worth it, even if mobs run in certain cases.

I use this skill constantly against other pet users, whether I am aiming for the pet or the player.

Demon version will help tremendously on the running mobs (if you're demon) another reason to level it.

Because gale force casts extremely quickly, an effective tactic is to use thicket and follow it with gale force when doing fcc. I'm not quite sure of the reasons behind it, but mobs that have been sealed but not frozen by thicket, that are then hit with gale force, almost always seem to get the freeze from the second attack.

Eventho it is very annoying in FC, theres also good sides to only having the seal in effect (combining it with bramble tornado against meelee classes for example?) i didnt test much pvp yet, but this is an actual advantage i could see in it NOT freezing, treat it as a disabling skill, not a stun skill.

Seal + Bramble Tornado will work in pvp, and cause knockback while sealed, assuming the freeze did not take effect.

You might have good luck, but I can say with certainty that this has been changed, and the seal and freeze do not always take effect at the same time anymore. It is especially noticeable with large groups of mobs such as in fcc.

    Eh.
Ever since they "fixed" Gale Force I can no longer use it when I AoE grind with my soulmate. I always have to wait for Thicket and rely on the Misstress' AoE skill to deal AoE damage. Even Thicket is not 100% reliable.
I guess they didn't want to fully copy Parasitic Nova. Sage Thicket (or was it Demon?) has a similar effect as Demon Parasitic Nova except that Nova's 100% chance.

Anyway, I'd rather Gale Force did nothing but deal damage. I would be happy with that. I could at least use it more often that way. I have noticed that Mystic lack some "normal" attack skills. Absorb Soul needs Nature's Vengeance (I just refuse to use it without, the channeling of the skill is not worth it if not used with Nature's Vengeance). Gale Force sucks now. Swirling Mist is pretty useless (unless it's on long boss fights) and Bramble Tornado, while being an awesome skill, I don't always want to knock back the mob. So I end up just spamming Nature's Vengeance most of the time. I guess our summons' skills are supposed to make up for that?

Yea people complained also when i used it...
But now i mainly use it when i see mobs have less than 15k HP and then i do it and they die xD
Sometimes i also wait for Thicker, And cast Thicket first and then right after i cast Gale.
This way the chances to freeze all targets is higher.

the number of mobs running away with gale force is pretty low (like 5-10 in the big room in FF) It is not that scary and they r all back within few seconds so nothing to worry much, if the barb hits with arma u wont even notice those that run away b:chuckle
