LA vs AR for pvp?

First off, let me state that I am new and rather inexperienced with PW in general. I did some searching on the various classes and psychic struck me as the most interesting and entertaining one. That said I proceeded to read the wiki pages and the guide posted on this forum to educate myself here.
While reading, I found myself wondering, which build is better (on average) for PVP? In beasboyisbeast's Ultimate Guide, he seems to suggest that the LA build has the advantage in PVP, however this is contradicted by most of the posts I see for psychics in PVP as they seem to refer to robes.
I understand that this is likely a case where both types of psychic work, but surely there must be some noticeable differences?
Anyway, I would be very grateful if any of you could post your opinions on the matter and the reason why you prefer the build you do, thanks in advance.

I'm 101 demon psy, pure mag build using R8 and 99 TT stuff. Im making marvelous dmg but i'm really squishy.
I have never seen any LA psychic on server but may be a way for pve. Most part of mago 100+ are LA now. Need to try if the best is to restat in vit or to restat for LA.
If someone has experience about it or any opinion, advise me.0 -

In order to meet the Strength and Dexterity requirements for the Light Armor you sacrifice points normally used to gain Magic attack power, Mana, or health.
I've seen the light armor Mage build in other magic class. The thought is that it gives more survivability through its higher Physical defense.
Other magic classes have spells that increase their Physical defense based off their armor's Physical defense values (Fox Form, Stone Barrier, Vanguard Spirit, Greater Protective Aura, Verdant Shell) and there by increase the perceived value of wearing Light armor. They lose some magic effectiveness and gain more survivability.
Psychics on the other hand do not have any such skills. General consensus is that Psychics lose some magic effectiveness and gain little to no additional survivability.
For some Mage players Light Armor helps Early to Mid levels. Most if not all of them re-stat at High levels after it stops being beneficial for them.
-At least thats what I've gathered-Finding Solutions to many of your problems starts by looking in the mirror and accepting a small measure of responsibility0
