lvl 100 pure-vit wizard 3620 HP, 1655 pdef with Earth Barrier, 851 without, ~3300 matk
http://pwcalc.com/40767eaf3103f044
lvl 100 pure-mag wizard 2110 HP, 1534 pdef with Earth Barrier, 730 without, ~4600 matk
Note that those wizards are wearing all NPC 7x gear and I kept str at 54 and mag at 300 min since I assume most people would not restat purely for this tournament.
Those numbers are ridiculously low when you factor in base damage. 700-800 pdef = one bleed tick, under 4k HP = 1-shot by any genie skill. Assuming most caster classes aren't pure vit build, that's no more than 2-3 shots with stuns by any physical damage class.

lvl 100 pure vit barb 7014 HP, 9118 HP buffed, 1911 mdef, ~2400 patk
http://pwcalc.com/7a69d12a2e620283
lvl 100 pure str barb 3631 HP, 4720 HP buffed, 1602 mdef, ~3500 patk
Any tank-build barb will be able to easily survive for very long with 7k HP unbuffed. Armageddon deals out 1250 + HP/2 damage. If buffed and with Tree of Protection, a perdition can easily deal out 4-5k damage, 1-shotting most.
This is just theorycrafting of course. Go try it out in-game and see how things are. What I really don't want to see is fast 15 second fights that ends with who attacked first.

How about fight being fully buffed then? From my experience playing both wizard and BM, PVP is more balanced when both parts are fully buffed (especially with bad gear).
And how about starting with 1 spark or below? That would allow players to use basic chi consuming skills, but not starting off with sleep -->ulti to force the other one to AD.
From my experience with NPC gear fights, then one who's first forced to use AD will lose most of the time (or the one being slept first if no genie allowed).
For example, in a NPC gear fight vs another wizard recently, using lvl 8x gear, I hit 3.6k BT without debuffs, and he was cleric buffed. For comparison, I got 53 base vit, and 2.6kish hp with NPC gear.0 -
Twink level 60 pvp tourneys > npc gear tourneys.0
-
Twinks are all about refines though, so you would kind of have the same issues as before those with more resources getting an advantage
also why level 60 for a twink, 80 would make more sense as hh80 gold becomes available and infact you could fully gear a character with some pretty insane gears at that stage
BM with XS+10 or so, 80 Gold armor, Cube neck, Warsong belt, dual misties, warsoul helm0 -
For a tournament like this, there are just too many variables to consider, when you allow people to bring their own equipments. Since all the equipment is easily obtainable, i'd suggest the organizer to create a pool of equipment, write it down on a list, then players participating can choose, or "draft" a certain # of equipment from the pool. Some special equipment might count as more than 1 choice. Then the players pick, and go into battle with only those equipments.
For example, say all venos receive "500" equipment points. If they want to pick a nix, then it might be worth "475 points". Then, the veno could enter battle with a nix, but otherwise be nearly naked with only 25 points for other pieces of equipment. Whereas a veno who chose a weaker pet, like a granite walker, could come in with good weapons and armors.
This would at least make it so that players skilled enough in building their chars based on equipment stats can get an advantage.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

NPC Gear PVP Tournament

What's the main point of this? To determine who is the most skilled of each class?
You forgot one very important detail.
THIS GAME TAKES NO SKILL.0 -

THIS GAME TAKES NO SKILL.
This is for pvp fun. Not all players can face each other simply because some are just way too op for others. So this NPC gear tournament is a good way of countering the gear factor, therefore, everyone can enjoy a competitive PvP.
In terms of skill this game doesnt benefit players at all, it benefits those who spend more cash and/or time on the game. But look at the positive part of this tournament, maybe those OP players who have no skill can learn a thing or two about their respective classes
With love,
Prayers lol0 -
For the people who say this game takes no skill, you just don't get it. Have you ever played an RPG? Does rolling dice in D&D take any skill at all? No. The skill in an RPG is picking your class, building it up with the right weapons and armors, then using the appropriate skills for the situation. None of it is really complicated. The skill is in the "strategy" or farming, or exploring, (or charging your credit card ).
If you want a game with real skill, play an FPS and stop trolling these boards thinking you're superior by yelling out "THIS GAME TAKES NO SKILL". LOL you don't think everyone already knows that?
It's almost like driving up to a party and telling everyone "ITS ONLY THE ALCOHOL THAT MAKES IT FUN". OK. We know. Now GTFO.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

You clearly haven't played Guild Wars. WoW isn't a great example, but it takes more skill than this game. Allods is more skill based. @ ion is more skill based.
Yes there is a gear component where if you have OP gear, it makes it easier. But from level 1-101, you can play the entire game by holding down 1 button - or conversely making a macro that repeats that one skill over and over (unless if you're a mage then you have to alternate two skills, woah slow down!)
***, Diablo 2 is more skill based, at least you have to kite as a mage.
If I want a no-skill RPG, I play a console RPG. Not a PvP MMO.0 -

I have played Guild wars, really didn't take that much more skill. You only pressed 8 buttons. Strategy was 99% of that game, understanding each skill and knowing which one was overpowered.
The only "skill" component of that game, i would consider, was things like bunny hopping on the warrior to get more melee strikes than intended on a warrior, or creating and switching between multiple weapon sets, either to resist damage better or to cancel skills like on a hammer sin.
I can press one button for Guild wars too. Did you know I actually went to 20 wins in random arenas on my monk just by using 2 skills? Patient spirit and contemplation of purity. Glad they nerfed patient spirit. I actually went to 10 wins just by using healing breeze and kiting everything, which was just LOL @ the time.
Edit: Consider this scenario. It's simple but illustrates skill pretty effectively. Pretend you are in random arena, and end up 1 v 1 vs a shock axe war. You are playing an air spike Ele. Can the warrior really do anything to win vs the ele? No. He's perma-blinded, and even if the ele is **** and the warrior is the most skilled player in the game, there's nothing he can do against perma-blind besides using shock to cancel blind. At 3/4 cast, 10 sec duration and 5 sec cooldown, thats more luck than anything.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

NiaJade - Harshlands wrote: »Yeah - so are you going to post that it was Candy (Piggy) that came up with this concept you are using and getting credit for?
Since you posted on that forum often - you know she held these 3-4 times a year (since late December 2007)- for solo and group battles in our arena.
Thought I'd clarify.. here is one link
ijs - give credit where credit is due.0 -
Just curious- A sage sin won that event right?
Just throwing it out there a sage sin can be 80 attack level without any gears. -_-0 -
NiaJade - Harshlands wrote: »Here is how it is.
Someone quotes almost word for word - what someone else spent years, on another version of PW - planning, perfecting and carrying out (since Dec 2007).
And someone else copies the same thing, almost word for word and acts as if it is off the top of their head.
I J S - if credit had been given to Candy (Pigy) cool points would of been awarded.
Comparing the two, I see no word-for-word similarities anywhere. The only thing in common is concepts and basic ground rules (which aren't hard to think up and many of which have been brought up in this thread). But even those are pretty intuitive with or without reference to anything or anyone.
Unless you linked to the wrong thread?
