This game needs more in-game support...

The title pretty much sums it up. This game is complete trash when it comes to getting GM assistance in-game...out of game a lot of times too! I won't rant because I know GMs are probably working hard, but the players of this game have no proof of it because GMs do not communicate with the playerbase.
Some things that really should be implemented are in-game GM chat. There is no reason to have to submit a ticket on the website. It is a pain in the *** and a waste of time. Most games I have played use a format similar to "/GM <Problem/Issue>" and usually get a response within 5-20 minutes which is acceptable. Here we type /GM and we get a pop up for being stuck...which does nothing? This forces players to world chat for GMs (which GMs hardly if ever respond to) or submit a ticket which usually will not resolve your issue as you never get support in-game. Yes there is a GM tab that you can click in-game...but that just gives you the "I'm stuck" pop up. -_-
I'm not entirely sure why the "live chat" feature isn't in game. Especially considering the "GM" tab has a pop up that says "Consult Online GM".
If I'm wrong in thinking this stuff please let me know. I've played this game for about 2 years and just assumed that eventually the devs/GMs would step up the in-game support. Apparently I was wrong.

Wouldn't definitely be nice to have more GMs in game or even just PWI representatives that you could talk to who know what they're talking about who can weed out between solveable issues without a GM or if the person needs a GM then send them to the GM (So that the GMs aren't overloaded with people who just want to **** and whine which takes them away from the people who are having real issues in game)
I second this.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

GM's USED to be in game 24/7.... or something. Watchign World chat and all that jazz.... What faeble just said is the reason they're not anymore. Too many CHILDREN or total idiots spammign them with ridiculous.... dumass requests/problems.... even the ones that DO log in (*cough* BearClaw) wont' respond when you pm them with a real problem.... ten TIMES in an hour.
But ya i also play FFXI, and u can send a report that YOU type out while in-game..... and they'll either send a automated response that it's filed and added to the list (if it's something going on for a long time like RMT activity when your'e reporting a certain player, or something 500 people have reported and they jsut start sending form letters saying they know it's being fixed), or they pm you and TALK to you within 5-20 minutes. Of course... 90% of the people on there act their age and dont' spam gm's with stupid requests or bullcrap.... If people on here acted like they should (ya gl with that......), they might actually LET us contact them in-game again. And yes i said again. I read somewhere that GM button used to CONTACT a gM and get u a pm from them. a LONG time ago........ b:surrender0 -

With what you guys are saying most games I've played also banned people for abusing in-game support. I'd be all for that if they'd bring it back...at this point it's as if GMs only show up in game once a month and stand still without doing or saying anything.0

When the community was new you could click the "report hacking" button and give a brief description and with in a short amount of time a GM would appear an resolve the problem at hand. You could also contact GM's via the GM button at the bottom right hand corner of the screen , and there was GMs online 24 hours a day 7 days a week nothing like it is now where even during normal business hours it takes weeks not minutes to resolve problems. I can see where GM's could get overloaded with mundane complaints of kill stealing, mat stealing, mold stealing etc. There are some problems that shouldnt be made to wait 24,48,72 hours to be resolved and thats if your lucky and actually get a response to your submitted ticket. World Chat at times is so vulgar, yes I know theres a blacklist , yes I know I can turn it off an not watch it, yes I know I can submit a ticket on the people abusing world chat, but by blacklisting, or simply turning it off I am essentially doing what the GM's should be doing. Im not sure if they get paid for their services or not or if there is a shortage of volunteers to be a GM without pay what ever the situation is this game definitely needs more activity from GM's inside the game as well as there also needs to be more GM's available to the community.0

I understand that there might have been abuse of the GM assistance features but that's not a logical reason to remove it from the game. In my opinion, if there are people abusing GM support the game requires MORE policing/banning...not less.
I don't know if there is a shortage of GMs or not. From what I've seen of PWI Lost City has...one GM that we can name? Afaik they just show up a few times a year to get RPKers to look at their ****. o.0
I wish I'd have been here when support was still ingame. -_-0 -
there used to be a pie chart, on the TOS page, i think, showing what punishments you would get for what offenses. coming from another online game, full of children with filthy mouths, my son and i were thrilled to find such an awesome game that also was watched over by GMs, who didnt hesitate to apply the rules. i think it was Kantorak who was on every night, and used to cruse around Archo, talking to the players, posing with the ladies in his uber GM gear. and when there were incidents of ganking or boss pulling, he would stop it*right away*, not ask for a SS, and then do nothing about it. in the early days problems were fixed THEN, not two r three weeks later...or never, like rubberbanding and other problem that still plague us all.
having no GM visible ingame is one major reason for problems with other players...the brats know no one will do anything to them, so they dont worry. no one here will slap down someone who has a mouse in one hand, and daddy's platinum credit card in the other. this is also one reason serious players leave and go to private servers.b:sad

a year ago I had a level 20 or so venomancer. i hit GM and one replied, if not appeared right next to me ingame to deal with problems. After TB came out they seem to have stopped doing it.
I've been in EVERY problem known to PWI that I could have been in at that level:
the hole in the elf area with no way up, the etherblade lake/falls traps. Archosaur's "hideout", 39's "GM meeting place" the list goes on..0 -
I do remember a time when the GMs were more active in this game and its sad that they no longer are. Heck, I remember when they used to use the red text to talk to us all, it always was random funny things and made the game more enjoyable. But like the Last Unicorn, where have all the GMs gone? I think I've seen one once every 2-3 months now if I'm lucky... When I started I used to see them at least once a week. I'd love to see them actively be in game and resolve the issues again.0

Completely agree. GM interaction would make this game a lot more enjoyable. A few weeks ago for the first time in months/years a GM was spamming historical facts in red chat...made my day. >.<
And btw, when I say GM interaction I don't mean a kill the GM event once every two years. I mean day to day stuff. Maybe GMs wouldn't be on your friends list but that doesn't mean it wouldn't be nice to see/hear from them every so often. Of course, the issue resolution in-game by GMs is still more important to me than a GM jumping on roofs in north arch like I do. You get the picture, eh?0 -
Maybe if we left out milk and cookies the GMs would come out more. I wanna hear from Frankie why there's less support.0

I would also like to know why. Abuse of contacting GMs =/= GMs backing off...in my eyes anyways. That said, I don't really understand why there is a decline of GM support.
Frankieraye, please give us some information. Why do we only see and hear from PWI representatives on the forums and not in-game?0 -
I would also like to know why GMs are unavailable in the game when their name is "Game Master".0
-
I kinda wonder what GMs do myself...any input frankie?0

I honestly do not think it makes a difference as it stands the glitches and other problems will still exist as the GMs are not directly in control of dealing with actual problems in the game.
Not to mention every company out there is out to get more for less... that is more work and less pay... and the only way to do that is to reduce. Therefore I think whoever is in charge thinks customer service is not a priority and technically they are right as it stands the game is still profitable and therefore not broken so fix is not needed b:bye0 -
My guess is that since PWE has been releasing new games in the past year or so, the latest addition being FW, they had to reallocate staff originally hired for PWI to their newer games. They could have hired more staff but with the current economy I highly doubt that they will do so and so once again PWI is left unattended by GMs.
Funny thing is, the "Report Player" function could just be removed. I don't know how many times I've reported botters at the "known botting" spots and waited a good 5-10 mins for a GM to show - not once has that happened.
I usually just PK them and then send them a message, saying that I recorded them botting and to keep an eye out on the PWI forums for the video.. that usually does the trick.0 -
GM's arent real, get over yourselfs peopleAhira is a spyb:cryb:cryb:cry0

I do not expect GMs to directly fix glitches. GMs are basically the middle man that help you DEAL with the glitches. Example...you get stuck in a pond, the GM helps you out of the pond. The GM does not delete the pond so it is impossible to get stuck in it anymore.
As it is GMs do not act as our representatives nor do they help us. I understand that the "economy" is in decline blah blah blah...that doesn't change the fact that in the 2+ years I have yet to see one GM in action.
The arguement that Cleon brings up also does not make sense to me. More games = more profit. If it was not advantageous to PW to produce more games then they would not. That said what you are saying is more games = more profit = less staff. It just doesn't add up to me.
As for the botter thing...I usually just wait for them to get aggro then stun them so they lose exp.0 -
Interesting thread. I always assumed I was the only person that never recieved in game help from PW workers. Apparently they don't assist anyone o.00

I would love to see GM's be active ingame... b:surrenderIt gives them a link with the community.
Even if it's just spamming red chat every now and then I'm fine with it. But at least make some ingame interaction and not just on the forums.
I remember the world chats from gm's that just made your day. So random.. everyone on world chat replieng to them too.
I miss those times b:surrender[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Exactly. It really wouldn't take much to form a relationship with the community.0 -
Exactly... and if the community even gets the idea that the GM's are doing their best to be part of the community people will enjoy the game more, and also be more forgiving about bugs and such b:surrender at least I would be.
Actually it would only be a win-win situation.
I don't think you can really expect GM's to be there 24/7. But even a couple of hours every day or so would make a huge difference...[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

That's true, but PWE keeps crapping out new games when they are hardly "managing" the others that are already released.0 -

Think about for a minute or two.
PWE acquires a new game, they have to allocate resources to make sure that game is ready e.g. beta testing. While they are beta testing they have zero income from that particular game.
If you look at it short term: More games = less profit = same staff = fewer PWI GMs.
FW was in beta for a few months, during that time they got $0 in and we can assume a decent amount in costs. Like I said, with the current economy and the PWE stocks dipping below the "garbage mark" every few months I highly doubt they are making a lot of money with the new games right now, in the future who knows.0 -
i would be more then happy to throw my hat into the ring and become a GM. i mean im on in some form or another all day every day anyway. id even do it free of charge. hell it would do the damn game some good to get some interaction with the staff back into the game.
i myself haven't been around as long as some of you to remember random red text from GMs but i do remember being in the center of arch one day. there was about 70 of us doing our damnedest to kill the gods eye in the water below the HH. kind of an impromptu server event. we had it down to like 300 hp when who should show up but frankie. idk why he was there but i remember everyone asking what would happen if we killed it. he said he dident know but was gonna stick around to find out (im still waiting for my GMs tear btw).
at that point i was like... holy ****.... so those fuzzy pictures bigfoot showed me of that GM in the woods was real! and i haven't seen once since. BearClaw dosent count because i think shes one of those boardwalk actors that pretends shes a statue. ill randomly throw a coin or two at her feet.
i may not know much about the inner workings of the game such as programing but i would make one hell of an in game mod thats for sure. and in the end wouldn't that take some weight off the tech support people that can actually fix the coding? or refund coin for a bugged wedding? having someone out there that just taking care of stalking and PKfarmers. slapping noobs whining about KSing and telling em less QQ moar PEWPEW? putting an end to foul mouthed arguments about things that aren't even game relevant in WC so those spending money on teles can get there tank for BH51 without having to spend fourty bucks to do it? were is the application for that role? ill gladly step in and fill it.0 -
I think the reason that they stopped going ingame is that they got tierd of dukeshouts that clogged up their window every time they tried to help someone.
