I am at a crossroads and need help
I have a full nirvanna set to either give my veno or mystic. I need to choose one char to keep and one to delete. I already have a char I enjoy while being not all that needed ie wizzy. I want a char that is more useful to the squad. People like my veno for the bramble and sage amp.
I see the mystic being usefull for the multiply curse/debuffs. However i dont see that alone being too great while most other chars have something similar, probably not as many though. I guess im wondering if people would like to have a mystic in a squad because of the healing, as im wondering if endgame mystic could take the place of a cleric for most instances. I know a mystic could for FF, but endgame speaking FF is pretty easy anyway. but what about SOT, ABA, Metel etc. If a cleric wasnt around, could people use a mystic for those instances?
I guess im wondering if i should keep my 97 veno and finish leveling it, or finish my mystic just looking from the stand point of which class u rather have in your squad???? im not asking which class is better, just what are people rather have in a squad to be helpful? I like to play both classes, so that not really a factor for me lol

It's a tough decision, really.
Mystic Pro
- I'm not entirely sure about endgame instances, but I've been able to heal for bh 29 and 39 (though it eats up a lot of mana)
- We can buff a cleric in a squad just in case of a wipe situation
- Shield the tank (or a DD that likes to steal aggro and die) to make the cleric's job easier
Mystic Con
- We can't solo as well as a veno (Devil Chihyu is much squishier than a Glacial Walker, and we use up several times more MP)
- Venos can purge and amp, very sexy skills (and major time savers)
- We can't pass sparks
- A veno with a herc can take the tank position in a squad much easier than a mystic
- Can't bramble a tank to help them keep aggro
It's really just a matter of what you're more comfortable with.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

However this didn't keep my friend, who's veno is around 90+ as well, from switching to mystics in a heartbeat. I think she finds the cleric/veno/wiz combo more fun. So whichever is more fun to you, you should play. ^^[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

This guy is completely right, but I think people often doubt the healing power of a mystic in a group.
Let me explain, I've been main healing many FC's with a seeker tank since I was 85+.
I'm able to pretty easily heal the entire instance with no problems. The main way I do this is with the magic of Vital herb, it's an amazing skill that at rank 10 acts like a BB without the damage reduction.
The best thing about this skill is that it's completely risk free healing that can be put down and forgotten about until you need to refresh it, there are some groups of people i've run with that only requires this herb to get us through the fight. (Beside a little spot healing on the tank now and then)
The other great thing about Vital herb is the fact that you can put it down preemptively on big pulls and not worry about taking healing aggro before the tank does. (The herb does generate threat but if it happens to pull and die before the tank aggroes, the threat from the plant gets transferred back to the puller instead of you since the plant is considered a pet with it's own threat table.
Now I'm not saying mystic is a replacement for cleric, not at all.
We'll never be able to half damage with BB or purify (Reliably). And most importantly we don't have a proper res, and that's were things come into play most of all when a mystic tries to replace a healer, it's possible to keep your res buff on everyone all the time but mistakes can happen where you forget and someone dies. Not to mention the 40 million mana pots it takes to keep those buffs up. b:surrender

I strongly believe a Mystic cannot replace a Venomancer. They are two different classes. A mystic will probably be wanted mainly when the squad cannot find a Cleric or simply, when a squad could use some extra healing power. Mystics can do a bit of everything but they are masters of nothing. Venomancers can debuff better, Clerics can heal better.
What I would like to ask though, why don't you simply share your Nirvana set between your Venomancer and your Mystic? If you don'have an account stash..I think it's not too hard to buy one. I share the TT90 armour between my Venomancer and my Cleric and one day with my Mystic as well. I also share my tome and other items that are normally untradeable such as General Summer Sword, Genies (in NON-TRADE state) etc.

the reason i wont split between the two is i am too BUSY with my other chars. I am limiting myself to three char- i have a sweet wizzy and bm. The nirvanna suit is a hand me down from the wizzy.
I love my wizzy by far, i guess i just like being needed in a squad like my 5 aps bm lol. My wizzy is for TW/PK mainly. I just have a nirvanna set going to waste and just wanted to know which class is more popular to have in a squad veno or mysticLife is a Garden...Dig Itb:victory

your base magic attack over 15 seconds.
Falling Petals
The target regains HP equal to 714 plus 30% of your basic Magic
Attack 9 seconds after being attacked. Lasts up to 1 minute.
Mystics heal = twice as good as a clerics and lasts 1min longer same stack able effect
Mystics have 3 Aoe heals maxed = Hax
Breaking in the Clouds has faster cast than wellspring etc/
Not saying a Mystic can replace a cleric in everything but in certain areas they are better, Kept a whole FC squad alive during fc pulls no BB needed Plants be pro yob:victory
As for the Venomancers debuffing better I'd disagree completely sure they have a purge and amp and pdef reduction but in the area of debuffing in my opinion Mystics would be the victor plants effects are longer lasting and cool downs are amazing compared to that of Amp and purge
(Back to the topic) Venos can never be replaced, mystics pets are meant to be leeched. As previously stated don't let people decide what class you play sure mystics are fun but if i could be a male veno i sure as hell would your already close to 100 finish the race and be as pro as possible

To give a full answer, as best as I can give on the mystic:
A mystic is NOT designed to be a damage Midigator like a cleric. Further, it is NOT designed to be a damage dealer like a wizard. Finally, it is NOT designed to be a dot-tanking purger.
A mystic is, however designed to off-midigate, offer negative status support via Lysed, and unLysed plants, or Damage via Leeched and unleeched pets.
Much like a Psychic, they posess aoe heals, albeit more than the Psychic, and powerful enough to support during a downed cleric, or strong enough to support a party on its own with Vital herb, Break in the clouds, Salvation(including salvations buffs) and falling petals.
Much like a seeker, a mystic, is able to swap modes based upon pets and plants used.Good intentions are like peeing yourself in dark leather pants, you get warm feelings inside, but it doesn't show.0 -

I know I didn't make myself clear in that period but I didn't just compare Ironheart/Falling Petals or Wellpring/Break in the Clouds but the class as a whole.
Clerics have reliable Purify, Regeneration Aura, Stream Of Rejuvenation - stronger AoE heal - Chromatic Healing Beam (now add +Sage/Demon). Overall a Cleric can heal better for the skills stated above. Of course I know the plants do a really good job and can pretty much replace BB (and shorter channeling which has been my main arguement to why Heal Summon > Heal Pet and why the Devil is able to tank as well as a Glacial Walker) but as a whole Cleric > Mystic when it comes to heals. In high levels instances though, comparing the two classes is unreasonable. Most people have very good gear and they don't need much healing to begin with. Sage/Demon Break in the Clouds will be more than enough in most cases I assume.
For the Venomancer part, I still believe they are better debuffer. Not arguing with you, just stating my point. I do know the Mystic debuffs can last longer and be kept longer. I see that Venomancers are based on strong debuffs that last a few seconds (what I like to call 'spike debuff'). Amplify Damage, Myriad Rainbows, Ironwood, Demon Venomous Scarab, Demon Parasitic Nova, Sage Soul Degeneration +pet debuffs (mainly referring to Howl, magic defence descrease). I know the Myriads are not very reliable. As a whole, I just see the Venomancer making the squad deal more damage and just nothing can compare to Sage Soul Degeneration + Sage Amplify Damage. My soulmate and I have lvl98 Sage and Demon Venomancers respectively. I have been comparing the debuffing powers and he is able to kill faster than me (I never regreted going Demon however b:pleased). I'm comparing the Sage/Demon skills by the way since we are talking about endgame here (as the OP asked).

I wouldn't force myself to make a decision on your characters just yet. I wouldn't delete any either.
a mystic is certainly more flexible than a veno or cleric, just because of their skill variety...they are a true hybrid class...but you won't find them ousting clerics or venos from their spots either.
I see mystics filling in the role not as purely a DD or as a healer, but as both, because through their pets, they can DD and heal the squad at the same time.
but if you really want to be wanted by a group...cleric, barb, sin, or BM. those are the classes everyone is asking for...this is a pain I know personally on my wiz...but until mystics are "proven", I'd keep both classes, JIC, and play whatever you think is fun.0 -

In my Opinion I said Squad with Mystic. Venos are better DDs but after tidborns who needs more DD? If a squad has to choose between sin DD or Veno DD they will go for a Sin. yes thx for the opinions. I was just wanting to know what people rather squad with them a veno or mystic. I understand given a third option such as 5aps, most ppl would grab the bm/sin. Thats why i rolled a 5 aps bm. I just like a pet class and wasnt sure which class was more "useful". I was hoping that mystic heals might be the deciding factor, but I was hoping mystics could be a risky healer if clerics were not avialable. I love my veno and like someone said i am too close to 100 not to go ahead and finish it. I really like the mystic, but i just dont want one more class that is just labeled 'open spots' when someone makes a squad. I like my bm, bc i can get a squad in 2 seconds when i say i have 5 aps and demon hf lol
