Please send in a ticket to Tech Support with the following information so we can try to figure this out for you in-depth. We need you to send us some of your computer's information.

    1) What is the make and model number of your computer?

    2) Please also tell us whether you are running a 32bit or 64bit version of Windows. You can find out in Windows by going here: Start > Control Panel > System & Maintenance > System. Then look under System > System Type. It will then display 32bit Operating System or 64bit Operating System. Include that info with the info we ask for below.

    3) To create a dxdiag log, go to Start, click on Run, then type in dxdiag and press Enter. Click on Save All Information as a text file (on your Desktop as an example.
If you are using Vista or 7, go to the Start Menu, click on the Search menu and type dxdiag.exe.

    4) Attach the dxdiag.txt that you save to your reply to us.

If you have a 64bit system, please click on the 64bit Dxdiag/DirectX button to save the correct log file.

This is important so that we can help you find the right software for your system.
Do you need help learning about patching the game, installing it, changing antivirus/firewall settings, changing network settings, learn how to use a computer, keeping your PC maintained and more?

I know this is bringing up an old subject, but it is the only post similar to my issue.

    I run an i7 4ghz system with 12GB 1.6ghz ram
    GTX 480 and 9800 GX2 nvidia graphics.

At times during game start AND play i will have 5 fps, at other times 30-60 fps. This is persistent EVEN IN THE ACCOUNT LOG IN SCREEN. I type that in caps so people dont ask how crowded that area is.

So far i have tested several nvidia graphic cards. I also have a laptop that at times has a similar issue and then later on has high frame rate as well.

Background applications are not the cause. I am an advanced PC owner and i build custom PCs as part of my living.

Lately more and more evidence points that it may be an incompatibility with i7 or i3 based systems. I still need to test this much and will also disable hyper-threading to see if that helps.

IKarisha or other users suffering this exact problem please ask for my email so i can gain a wide list of the PC types effected and keep in contact.

Hey guys I have a similar issue. I quit PWI in August 2010 and came back to check it out a week ago. I had upgraded my pc and moved to Windows 7 in the time that I quit. NOTICE I SAID UPGRADED NOT DOWNGRADED. My specs before were an Athlon 64 6400+ black edition processor with 2 gigs of ram and a geforce 275GTX and it ran the game great with the exception of TW which always lags. OK so here's what I upgraded to: AMD 1090T black edition (thats a 6 core 3.2 ghz processor for those who dont know) 8 gigs of overclocked gaming ram, and the same gfx card (geforce 275GTX) A really kick *** top of the line motherboard. One would think going from a duel core to a hexacore would improve a game and for ALL other games it does. FOR EXAMPLE: Masseffect 1 and 2 runs on maxed settings with AA and AF on 16X at 60fps, Medal of Honor MAXED settings 16x AA and AF 60fps, Call of Duty Black Ops MAXED SETTING 16X AA and AF Also 60FPS. Vidictus MAXED SETTINGS 16X AA and AF at 60fps. When I have settings maxed in pwi with terrain off it runs 60fps, but when I click terrain on the fps drops to 10-5. So Seeing PWI is graphically inferior and ran better on my previous crappier system, there is no excuse for me to be getting 5-10 fps when I am not even in city areas with noone around in pwi when I have terrain turned on. My conclusion is that when they updated the game, they messed up the code and they just need to fix it. People who have 5 year old PCs should be able to run this game perfect seeing as the gfx are worse than the original Half Life 2 which is more than 5 years old. Seeing that my PC s essentially brand new, I conclude the problem is not my PC or anyone else who has a sufficient PC and is experiencing the Full Terrain problem: It is the coding of PWI. Any thoughts on this?

PWI doesn't handle multicores very well. Especially not quadcores and hexacores as i've seen. I wouldn't consider the GTX275 "brand new" or even good as it's multiple generations old...but yes, there seems to be a problem with the coding and how a gpu or cpu processes it, making it inefficient and laggy. A friend and myself found that by turning down Distances on a hexacore and an nvidia GTX 500 series card you could have textures up...might wanna mess around with 'em a bit, see if anything can balance out for better graphics.

It doesn't handle more than one, period.

A 275 GTX is still a fast card. as it runs all the newest games on the highest settings with 16x AA and AF I would not say it is outdated yet and it is overkill for PWI. When it came out my BFG 275GTX Overclock was a $380$ gfx card. But thanks for the info... I wish they would update the game to support new PCs. I did Not update my GFX card with my processor because the gfx card is still considered fast...just because its from 2009-2010 it does not mean its slow or bad...look at the benchmarks.

So, I basically need to get a new graphics card? Prior to the expansion, I would only lag if I landed directly on top of an NPC. Now, it's anywhere..even flat terrain. Every single time I try to land from any altitude. >.>

I don't think you should have to buy anything. If it worked before then when they put the expansion in they broke the game. They should just fix it back to how it ran before. I doubt a new gfx card will help much.

Here's 1 that will throw a spanner in the works.
Plays Perfect World at max settings no problem for a year.
Takes a break, and expansion comes out.
Has not changed PC, software or anything.
Updates Perfect World relogs and starts playing again last week.
Game now plays laggy as hell, talking 5 fps with all on max.
Lowers terrain only but leaves all else maxxed and back to normal no lag.

<<<<<<Everything on PC is same as it was.>>>>>

    Only PWI has changed!!!

Only the max terrain setting causes a problem.
Ergo only an idiot would not conclude that for some reason the terrain textures cause graphical lag, wierdly, when i max out terrain, the ping is also affected (doubles), god knows why as textures are client side, or should be, and if not why not????

I play everything maxxed on all 200+ games I own, as this is an expensive piece of hardware, a full gaming rig bought so I dont need to check for specs. And no game ever has performed this badly, since I bought my PC.

Old engine is old and outdated so even with the best hardware, you still get slowdown in game since the game is the way it is, nothing much you can do about it atm.
