    Speed is important, but mainly skill and luck. My slow Wiz made it to the 4th room without using Distance Shrink, and before his Zeal got Holy Path.

    Skill is required for the speed so kinda goes hand in hand. Try to rush without knowing exactly what you're doing and you end up agroing a mob or hitting a fire. It's important to go slow when you first start, which is why I said 'once you've practiced the route'. Most newbies I run through make the mistake of copying my exact moves without knowing the area, then promptly give up because they think it's too hard >.<
