Will mystic replace cleric?

I'm coming back to pw tonight. I'm wondering if mystic has become the new cleric. My cleric is level 94 but has no gear, money, or Genie lol. I gave it away when I quit. So if i make a new character, will I be better off making a mystic? Or a new cleric. Thank you.

Mystics technically CAN heal for instances, but have a much harder time at it, and use up several times more MP.
I'd personally say go make another cleric.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

dang catrepie beat me to it. yeah mysitcs can support a party to an extent but they can't BB RB or use purify. it's overall better to get a cerlic in a party. mystics are like back up support. they can res buff celric and tank reducing sqad wipes lol.0

So come endgame I'll be useless lol? Clerics will out heal me, and tanks will out tank me. Seems like its worse than both cleric and veno but better than neither. Lol...[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

well, the mystic class's position isn't so defined yet, it will take more months of playing to determine what other characters expect of a mystic's role in a group dynamic.
to me, the mystic is a combination of every role. they have strong heals, have pets, can DD, and debuff.
I think that a cleric will always be desired over the mystic as a primary healer, because they have more heals, purify, and the ability to revive after the fact...a mystic as a healer is great...their direct heal is actually stronger than a clerics...but costs much more to cast...spamming that will quickly deplete mana and any advantage over the cleric.
if you want an easy, fun class, that is capable of doing things on their own, then a mystic might be for you...but if you want to be indespensible, and wanted everywhere...roll a cleric.0 -
i was pressed for time in my last post. sorry lol. i'll break down mystics for you.
mystics are a jack of all trades, master of none class. they have summons simular to venos, casting times on some spells are fast as phycis, 4 healing skills (none as good as a clreic), and a ton of debuffs.
their summons can't take too much damage without you healing it. luckly, their pet healing skill is fast, VERY fast, like your pet can be at death's door and you can cast the spell and save it fast lol. the main pet that everyone uses is the devil. it had good enuf damage without having to give it some of your mp. the storm mistress uses mag attacks and is a pain on your mana to keep her with enuf chi to cast spells. salvation (or sally as i like to call her) is a support pet that casts sheilds on her target to make an effect similar to winged shell. she is by far the squishiest of any killable thing in the game lol with crappy damage to boot:P understandable, she's for support. the last summon is cragglord a 20 sec summon that can make you go OMFG due to the damage it can dish out.
2 of their healing skills are plants that are summoned they regen a samll amount of hp over 1 min (one of them does this, the other only lasts 20 secs) the other healing spell is an aoe heal that i really can't compare to a clerics aoe heal. the last heal is a single target heal that has a very fast casting time and near instant cooldown. it's nothing compared to IH clerics have. they have a res buff skill. upon casting it, the one who has it can get right back up. handy in avoiding squad wipes. this buff costs a fair amount of mana to use tho (2660 at level 10)
mystics can debuff the hell outta mobs altho these debuffs just fall short of the debuffs other classes have. while some debuffs only they can use for the moment. they can reduce attack rate, increase channeling time, reduce phy and mag defense, Distract, Slow, Stupify, Weaken, sleep. it's possible to have all of the above debuffs on a mob at the same time.
as stated. mystics need a godly amount of mana to play effectivly. either stock up on homemade pots or grab an mp charm. they can't purify, use BB or RB. the lack of a puirfy skill alone makes cerlics a MUCH better chose for parties. how they are at end game? i would think it's too eairly to tell seeings how they don't have their level 79 skill and sage skills yet lol. i doubt they would be useless endgame.0 -
Few things to say here...first, no, mystic has no hope of replacing a cleric. I think you have all pretty much figured that out by now. The hp restoring herbs, particularly vital herb, are fantastic in fcc and many other situations where a squad heal is necessary. This makes it possible for the cleric to continue focusing on the tank and not stop to squad heal.
To the above post, level 10 res costs 3800 mp, not 2660.
I would also like to add that mystic pets are not tanks. The chihyu and mistress do fine vs normal mobs of physical and magic respectively, but it's not really worth it. The mistress is an excellent support damage pet when she has mp. Her aoe spell and single target spell are both very good and she will cast them continually as long as she has mana. Salvation is best used to turn yourself into a tank. Aegis shield is a phenomenal spell and makes any normal mob do pretty much no damage against you. This shield is also useful against bosses when timed right and cast on the tank.
On the truly offensive side though, chihyu and mistress become entirely pointless except for one thing: energy leech. The bonuses gained through energy leech are top notch, they last 20 seconds and energy leech has a cooldown of only 30 seconds at level 10.
EDIT: I do agree entirely on one specific point, mystics do require inordinate amounts of mp to play at the top of their game.0 -

I have lvl 10 Resurrect and I can confirm it actually takes 3800 mana, not 2660. Yep, even worse xD0 -
Clerics won't be replaced entirely but mystics can heal in quite a few of instances. A lot of players use g15/16 gear and don't need as much healing as it was the case when players were running around in the same instances with g11/12 gear. Having both classes in squad works best tho.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0

lol my bad. i was taking the info from ecatomb. it was saying 2660 mana for a level 10 res buffxD. but 3000+ mana........yeah i'm sure the OP can catch our driftb:laugh0

@ Outlaw -- You forgot Falling Petals. That's one of the best heals a mystic has, imo, since it can be pre-casted before someone takes damage, is set off by them taking damage, and heals enough to give the mystic or cleric time to heal more. I use it nonstop in instances and when I'm soloing.0

What in the hell is this? The obvious answer is cleric > all.
Seriously though, no b:cool0 -
Ok thanks lol. I just wanted to make sure we weren't rendered useless!
And omg this game takes forever to download -_-[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

I've solo healed every thing (except 69) to 79, and have no real problems with it when 2 things don't happen.
1. People don't aggro mobs that everyone else walks right by, so I have to stop and save them with devil stun or healing, while the leet peeps that like to run off like we are playing tag decide to wade into mobs. Or vise versa if somone is lagging way behind and has "friends" to play with.
2. People don't GET INSIDE THE PLANT HEAL RANGE! Seriously if you want to be healed, when you play aggro tag with 3 other people, could you at least try to step into the bright red and white lights everyone else is enjoying? QQ
Basically the same issues my cleric friends always have with questionably intellegent people.
Replacing clerics? Hell no, and even if we could, don't ever let anyone even think we can. There needs to be some serious changes to the class to even compete as a healer (or a dd for that matter).
The changes in China to Resurrection can't come soon enough. I'm getting past sick of having to re-rezbuff an entire squad (fail or otherwise) every few minutes because they can't find a cleric after 20 minutes of spamming and invariably think I have 3800mp X 5 to waste on them on the off chance they DO die.
When it does happen its kinda nice that they were buffed tho b:cute
I'm really looking forward to sage Break in the Clouds (adding chance to purify to my spam heal) and Falling Petals (chance to regen mp to my gimped IH) , and well all the sage skills. The 79 skills especially too (mp regen and 50% damage reduction respectively).
Also the healing plants need either more HP/DEF or to heal themselves/be healable with heal summon. While mine are only lv8 at the moment they can barely last through one good aoe from any boss that I should be expected to be fighting at my lvl.
Do they scale with my lvl after they are maxed? They have zero scaling ability with my magic attack or weapon judging from their limited descriptions. So at end game they more than likely will be totally worthless just like Comforting Mist is if they only ever heal a set ammount (barely enough as is) and die from aoe which is THE MAIN REASON TO USE THEM FOR SQUAD HEALS.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Sorry for say that, but "break in the clouds" Mystic's healing skill, is faster and better than "wellspring surge" cleric's healing skill.
You know, better for emergencies than cleric, but Ironheart Blessing still is the bestest healing skill.0 -

Agreed. It's rather irritating to use a ton of mana/chi on Vital Herb just to see it get oneshot. b:sad
Any of the plants, really, need to have better hp/def, or something, because they don't last long against bosses that have aoes, and there are a LOT of bosses with aoes. It's just noticably more irritating with the heal plants, since they can heal for a pretty decent amount if they don't die.
As for the OP, most parties I've been in with a cleric, the cleric loved having an offhealer/DD, along with that res buff. We won't replace clerics, but I'd say we're a pretty good complement to them, as we can switch roles pretty quickly, or even DD/heal at the same time. Break in the Clouds is an awesome heal, but you can't really spam it fast enough for high burst damage on a tank (i.e. phys def debuff bosses), whereas Ironheart just keeps going as long as you keep it stacked, not to mention how useful Purify is for many bosses.
The only time a mystic can completely replace a cleric is if that cleric completely sucks at playing the class. I ran a BH51 the other day with the first cleric I've ever seen that doesn't use IH (literally, used it once or twice, and didn't stack it either time), and didn't purify the tank without being yelled at to do so. Clerics like that...well, obviously a well-played mystic could do a whole lot better. For clerics that know how to play their class, we really can't compare. We can be primary healers if we need to, for some bosses at least, but it's much harder to keep the party alive as a mystic than it is to do as a cleric. Cleric heals are safer, and will always be preferred--especially since some bosses literally can't be done with only a mystic for heals.
Not to mention, I actually don't like running parties without a cleric...having to res buff everyone is not only time consuming, but extremely costly in mana (and pots). For those that aren't aware, the buff has a 30 second cooldown, so doing that SIX TIMES every 15 minutes is not only a bit bizarre, but it slows down the squad by a ton.0 -

true. when i made that post i was thinking solely IH lol. it's just me actually. when ever i think cleric, i only think 4 skills: IH, BB, puri, and aoe heal who's name i never learned. my knowlege with that class is severely limitedxD0 -
I'm leaving my rez buff skill at 1 not worth the trouble. If you want reduced exp loss then talk to a cleric.0

Guys, anybody know what should I do on FC?
I mean, when barb pull many mobs, the guys deal AOE to kill all them quickly, but I don't know which AOE I whould use: "Gale Force", "Thicket" or "Cragglord's skill", I have no idea...
Any experience about that?
Thank You.0 -

Thicket or Cragglord are good options.
Personally I would say thicket though, it's damage is IMMENSE even at my level, and it will silence and freeze most of the mobs you hit with it.
Using after the big pull in the head room basically assures that no one will die due to other people not doing what there supposed to.
I love watching as almost the entire crowd of mobs just stand there in that head room, while the other classes start aoeing the other half of there health away. b:chuckle
But Cragglord is awesome too and more damage, the only problem is he'll probably pull after his 1st aoe and get gibbed.YuiYuiYuiYuiYuiYuiYuiYuiYuiYui0 -
so main question in this topic is will mystic replace clerics,
well that mostly depend on clerics atitude, knowledge how to play and act in squad.
i was today in mine bh51 and ofcourse i was there alone as mystic and we had one cleric whoes goal ofcourse is to heal barb and squad, cleric died 2 times coz he didnt know to move on distance from rankar, after that cleric cursed and insulted as calin as fail and left squad pised, cleric had one rev on him by me but i cannot rev him all time, well after cleric ditchin as all wanted to leave run but i said i can do good job as cleric and proved them that mystics heal good on they bhs against boses like rankar and wyvern so only way clerics can be replaced if they act rude0
