Mobile Site

I think it would be beneficial for PWE to create a mobile version of its site, including the forums. More and more people are moving to smartphones and the like, but the lack of a mobile version of this site leads to a lot of hassle with zooming in and out to find what you want.

This might not get very far, but I'm looking for opinions. Vote yes, no, or indifferent in the poll, then make a post explaining your vote.

    Yeah, sometimes I like sitting on the couch with my ipod, but the forums are really hard to navigate and are kinda slow with replying and all. So I'd love to have a mobile version. :D Could be modeled kind of like the wikipedia or google mobile versions.

    I hate sitting on my Wii trying to type with the WiiMote on these forums,
    but I don't have a problem with this "mobile" thing because I don't have a phone until atleast next month. b:cute

    I dun even have a phone that has internet access... But I still think it'd be a good idea :)
    Most websites are already able to be used on mobile phones and within time all websites will be. I guess it would be a good idea for pwe to develop a website that's compatible with mobile devices. :)

    I think this idea is a good one, however..

    I have no trouble browsing the forums on my phone (Samsung Galaxy S) as they are now. Heck, I'm even writing this from it right now. And I frequently browse and publish to the forums from my phone.

    Mobile sites are typically bland and visually uninspiring. This is to minimise the size of the page to allow for quick loading on mobile devices. However, one of the things I really like about these forums is the layout and design. And if you have a proper wireless connection, you should have no problems loading the page.

    One of the problems encountered by some phones is the text input function. I'm at a slight advantage here since my phone has Swype, which makes text input a breeze, but I can imagine typing a long message on the likes of an iPhone or something similar being a little bit trickier.

    So while making a mobile site may be beneficial to the company, I don't believe it's absolutely necessary. And if they did implement one, it would most definitely have to have a "Desktop Site" link somewhere for people like me who are fine with the original page.

    I access the forums on my phone as well but as much as not having to zoom as much would be welcome, I'm with DeathOfLisa -- I would hate to give up the look of the site in the name of mobile access efficiency.

    You can access on some phones, but it would be nice for those that cannot to have an actual app to access them.

    In my experience, every mobile site I have used has a link to allow the user to view the original site. The typing can be a pain, especially when a device doesn't even have T9 text recognition (PSP -_-)...

    A majority of said sites also redirect to the mobile site whenever you access them on a portable device. I find that really frustrating. >.>

    +1 I also use my psp sometimes to acces the website xD Just never manage to properly load it and it takes ages... -.-"
