NV bow completely obsolete?

Hey archers,

This is my archer alt on my sins account, he will be using all of my sins gear via account stash. All he needs is a top, a bow and a pair of claws. I will probably get him deicide claws for 5 aps base with my sins gear. My initial plan would be to wait for a rank8 sale and go for r8 top and chest. This is what he would look like:

I added enough strength to be able to carry deicides.

Now for my question: I always found purge procs on bows pretty hax and was thinking of going for HS/Regicide instead. Looking into it I found out, that you basically pay like 140M in raptures for a little more base damage. Then I thought about going for second recast instead. But for the price of a second recast bow with decent stats I might as well get r9 bow which is just plain better. The only argument I can find for the nv bow is the look, being able to use it on my sin and being able to use HS/First recast while I save up for second. Is there any argument that would justify getting second recast nv nowadays, or is it just a horrid waste of money?

    But if you wish to be purely practical, the only point to getting it would be to have an endgame bow your sin can swamp out on a whim... and even then you may as well go for the R9 first and the Nirvana second.

    You have a pretty fair assessment of the situation. The only other benefit you get with the Nirvana 2nd cast weapon is having a unique weapon likely with different stats compared to anyone else on the server.

    I've heard from many archers ( can't say myself ) that the proc is lovely in TW. Not a surprise that on DW all the archers swith from R8 to Heaven Shatterer when it comes to TW.

    The damage difference is still pretty high, enough to justify a purge proc? I don't know.

    Calculating the exact cost, there is still a pretty high difference in price. With Raptures at 1.4M and gold at 1M (about the current situation on LC), NV second recast (Without the price for the HS or chienkungs to keep sockets, not sure if I would.) costs 350 gold. Rank9 ring + bow is 620 gold for the Tokens alone. Sure I have to consider rerolling the nv bow, but for the rank bow I also need Medals of Glory and 100k additional rep. Plus I really dislike the look of the r9 bow and would love to have individual stats. I will see if I can get a good 3 people nv farming party with my sin...

    You should realize that gold was not at 1m during the rank sale. 500k is a little low for an older server, I'd expect LC to be higher at about 800k+ since Sanct was at around 700k.

    Everyone forget R9, just get R8. R8 is much more effective for its price than Nirvana. R8 even at very high refines is about 100 weapon damage less than second cast Nirvana at the same refine, and costs MUCH less. From a practical standpoint, R8 has made Nirvana obsolete. Sure R8 is butt ugly, but you don't need to look pretty to kill. When you stand around just un-equip the bow and put on some 3star blades. LOL

    Well, gold on LC was never below 700, maybe 750k during rep sales, sometimes 800k. Even when there was no pack sale at the same tme. We can only dream of prices at 500k, don't even remember when I saw it that low last time. Even at 700k, R9 is still about 25% more expensive. And for some reason raptures dropped to ~1.2M at that time. Now they are a little higher again.

    As for the effectiveness of Rank 8. Yea that's true, it is the most cost effective bow ingame atm, and I am getting it anyway due to the chest during the next rep sale. I think I will just casually collect raptures and use r8 bow.

    R9

    Ring + bow = $620 approx
    620*700,000 = 434m

    TT99 bow - 10m
    2nd socketing - 20m
    Nirvana recast - 100 raptures
    Quench - 150 raptures
    170 Chiekungs needed for total transfer

    10+20+(1.4*250)+(0.4*170)=448m

    That's more expensive without having to buy or farm a lunar/PQ3 ring, the nearest competitor.

    Now for the sake of argument, throwing $108 for rep in there

    $728*700,000 = 509m, for guaranteed adv purge

    1) I don't think I would spend that much for a second socket, if I invested that much I would really rather go r9.

    2) I already have a wizard who is partly r9 (ring, top and legs so far) and I wanted to do something different on archer, basically playing it for fun. I initially planned to use r8 as endgame cause I just made the archer for the lols. But it is that much fun so far that I am probably gonna invest more.

    3) With gold at 700k, raptures are probably gonna drop as well again

    I think one could use different calculations for different results, it's speculation. In the end we all know that r9 is the better choice for sure. I don't know why I insist on the nv bow.. Seems pretty dumb from a logical point of view. b:surrender

    I know this was already explained, but: if you have two bow using characters, the nirvana bow will be much cheaper than rank 9.

    Get a HS to purge on your sin. . .it's a farming alt anyway.

    Get an R9 bow. No one said anything about the +30 attack levels that you get from it yet. So let's do an overview:

    R9: Auto-2 sockets, Spirit Blackhole, -0.1 int, +30 atk level, 205 hp, +10-11 dex, higher base damage

    vs

    NV: Probably 1 socket, Recast an average of 5 times just for Spirit Blackhole (assuming all 5 special adds have an equivalent cast rate), 5% chance at -0.05 int, 15% chance at +1-3 atk lvls, 10% chance at +18-19 dex (assuming each mod has the same chance)

    If you go the HS route (which you were hinting at), the costs would be:

    lunar ring+5 = 27m + 4.2m
    lgi wep (which you already bought) = 50m
    100 raps * 1.2m-1.4m = 120m-140m
    150 raps * 1.2m-1.4m = 180m-210m
    Total = 381.2m-431.2m

    Now for the R9 cost let's assume 700k/g and medals of glory obtainable from DQ for 5m ea:

    R9 ring = 320k chips=>171g*700k/g+3*5m = 134.7m
    R9 wep = 850k chips =>453g*700k/g+5*5m = 342.1m
    Total = 476.8m

    Ideally, your archer should be using 2 lunar rings. Let's say the 200mdef/pdef cancels out the +5 def lvls. Now, with the r9 ring, you'd +113 phys atk over a lunar ring.

    Not much of an argument going for nv. The price difference for R9 is from ~8.5% to 25% more than nv, but if you're willing to spend that much on an alt in the first place, might as well do it right. (Totally no bias in the last statement.)

    I dont even think some stupid teenager abusing daddy CC would spend 500 mil on a bow for the look and to be different. All the times you have to recast for adv purge probably puts it up to around 550-650 mil or so as well. It does looks amazing with white/black fashion tho b:surrender

    I sadly spent 4-5 months farming 300 Raptures thinking it would be longterm endgame weapon - now NV is, like he tread sais, obsolete. Everyone that already had NV got screwed over when R9 came out since its not only 10 times better its cheaper to. At least my assassin has the best bow to kill Harpys in Frost <.<
