Is it ok to go full axe bm??

Axes need 3 strength a level, fists need 2 dex per level. The build for axe/fist (and everything in between being poles and swords) is 3str/2dex per level or use weapons levels behind you (for instance you might be lvl 90 before you can use TT80 fists without +dex stats on equipment.

This means you are short on hp, but the solution is learn to play your class better. Learn to use your marrows and stuns. Many of us have leveled from lvl 1 with 5 vitality (later restatted down to 3 vitality) and tanked every boss in our BHs because we had such excellent damage the barb couldn't keep aggro so we tanked instead. It borders on not enough hp, but it is still enough.

The reason you want fists and axe. Axe for your aoe's and for HF. HF makes things go soooo much quicker when used right, not to mention it has your longest stun. When you start doing FCCs squads will want you to have fists. Why? Because fists do the most damage per second. Axe damage really sucks unless aoeing. You will start running into squads that won't take you unless you are an aps (attacks per second) fist bm in just a few level.

So the answer to your problem of "is it ok to go full axe bm?" Yes, but its uses are very limited. Mostly they're used for TWs . For pve, they suck. Squads won't want you. If they take you they'll be disappointed in your dmg. You will be gimped as a bm because you will only be using 1 out of 4 weapon paths, which will really hurt your survivability and damage. If you are thinking "axe bm's have more hp," so what? They don't tank, because they can't get aggro. And their survivability is actually lower because they lack some skills, especially when bloodpaint enters the picture and you survive based on your damage output.

Just take to mind that there are certain things people will kick you from squad from if you are pure axe build.


Nirvana instance is one. At least on HT, if you're not 3.33 aps or more, you aren't wanted in the squad.

Though, pure axe builds are nice for FF.

I personally am fist/axe/pole(once I get more demon skills I will be pole anyhow)

Once you hit 80 just about everyone has bows period who have the dex for it. (melee classes)
FF anyone? As much as I /love/ chasing heads, much easier to tab+auto than to cast drake ray / run to it then hit ... I'll stick with my ☆Unicorn b:chuckle
