    I fixed it.. although it wouldnt be my first option, which wasnt, but worked.. yay xD i upgraded my XP pro to win 7 xD now it works fine .. good luck to everyone..
    I guess the pwi update must have corrupted my system data or something..

    PS.. If you upgrade you dont need to format, you keep all your files and programs

    Guys, see if installing the latest version of internet explorer helps you. I think that was what solved my problem.
    (I'm running Windows XP + Service Pack 2, and very few later updates from Microsoft).

    Tried upgrading to IE 9, didn't work... b:surrender

    I'd upgrade windows but I'm on Vista SP2... don't you need to buy an update to windows 7? And I'm not gonna pirate it xD

    I have updated all drivers, programs on my comp, any ideas?

    I got same problem... But only on my PC, on my sisters it works OK, but i cannot play there, just tried. :-/ I reinstalled 2 times it on my computer, then patched and veryfied about 5 times and nothing changes... Just after pressing Start game button, it shows fancy picture and then tadadadown... ends... :-) b:angry

    Vista has serious compatibilty issues.. but upgrading would be your best option, yeh.. ^^

    I dunno, but it seems to me, that all textures have good improvements, everything looks better even with graphics in min. The skills also look nicer o.O but maybe its just me dunno.. maybe they added flare features to brighten things up. anyway, looks beautifull, lots of new quests, and 2x EXP ftw..

    lol they don't pay much attention to tickets anyways as i've just discovored....they asked for a DxDiag that i'd ALREADY ATTACHED to my first ticket so i've just had to reply and tell them i'd already attached one....lets hope they know how to use it^^

    i'm starting to get really angry i submitted the ticket along with my diag and their response was to turn on windows updates and update my graphics drivers.....THIS was my response

    i am sorry if this comes across a litlle bit strong but the problem isn't my windows updates or my graphics card drivers(all uptodate) the problem lies somewhere in your game coding pls don't blame my hardware (Which by the way) can run games that need alot more specs than your perfect world pls either look at and fix the problem or just tell me straight that you have no idea how you broke your game, and that i should uninstall it...but i guess you just won't do that

    I had this problem once a few years ago and I fixed it by defragmenting my hard disk drive.

    There is an exception from that: malware - a very common, annoying, and hard to fight thing recently, but you might be right that the problem lies on the game coding side. That's one of the pittfalls of buying the newest, or unpopular hardware and software - often times, the coders of other, compatible software need time to make adjustments. This was the case with Windows 7 soon after its release, when people started noticing, that the manufacturers of the hardware they bought didn't release the drivers for this new operating system yet, or they started noticing unusual behavior of some programs, that used to work fine on older operating system versions.

    As your computer is starting up, you have to press a key (could be F1, could be Delete, sometimes those are very weird - really depends on your motherboard's manufacturer and model). That's why you should find a manual for your motherboard on its manufacturer's website.

    well i'm on vista and my setup isn't brand new but still good enough to take on the games of today all my other games like eveonline, guildwars, uncharted waters online, star wars galaxies, and many many others have no issues yet the guy answering my ticket seems to think otherwise and as for malware i check regularly for stuff like that and make sure it's all clean

    Hopefully, as people submit tickets, the support will have a bigger picture of what's going on and will release a fix for these problems soon.

    Hey i'm new here and i cant play the game, when i click in the icon to start to play i get on the loading screen [ connecting to server > Downloading Files > Update complete ] Game version 484, I click on play and i get a error Unexpected Software error occurred and there is a report ready to summit >.<
    I tried to Verify, but my verify keep crashing, i also tried to do the manual patch but i get: Update Server Connection Fails , plz try other Update server .

    I really dont know what to do, should i send a ticket or just wait for new patch or an answer?

    i was freeze at the screen before logging: after 1 week of searchs ans tickets, i 've found , with pukie, the clue : my video codecs wasn't good enough, i deleted my Satsuki for K-lite full pack and now its runs: i hope it will help someone :D

    Hi guyz, I hoped, that this patch would solve my problems with Unexpected Error, but nothing happens... Still crashing... I am very very dissapointed and sad, I wanted to buy some packs maybe and now I cannot even play... b:cryb:cry
    I think there should be some refund for those players with this "game running problem" from PWI Staff for these troubles... Because on the servers are bonuses now and we cannot use them for our characters! That is not fair, when the others can write on FB, they got already 80 or 90 lvl earthguard character (with help of Server bonuses and some bought stuff from Boutique, of course) and disabled players - us, cannot even play for just a second... ! b:angry b:cry
    Try to solve it ASAP, please... And good luck game coders and whole PWI team...b:pleased

    @Dratsu: Well the GUI is better but that's all that I've noticed in terms of graphical updates. Although there is still the loading screen of random dancing green midgets that takes up a lot of resources and might even be the cause of this problem.

    @drysyn: I know, I'm not having much luck with my ticket either. The guy I'm working with insists that it's a problem on my side. The fact that a GM has not responded to this thread (yet they have every other thread in this forum), and that they haven't posted this problem in the "known genesis bugs" thread yet, makes me really doubtful that they even acknowledge this as a bug. I mean, I hope it gets patched, but they took care of a lot of the other genesis bugs in this patch but didn't fix our problem...

    @netoperusnovo: Ah yeah I figured it out by myself. But he was pointing out that my problem might be that I had 0 dedicated graphics RAM and that I needed to use my BIOS to update it. But, you can only up SHARED RAM using your BIOS. You need a new graphics card to update dedicated RAM. Idk how to reply to this ticket, just tell him that he's wrong? o_o

    @sunset25: That sounds like it might be the problem we're having. If it is there's no definite answer on how to fix it yet.

    @Raclette: I thought that only affected media players? Well I'll try it out after school.

    didn't do anything to help to get mine running, as for the support guy saying try reinstalling my graphics i don't see why i should since all my other games have no problems, unless someone can confirm it'll deffinetly work, however still no update on my ticket....it seems PWI staff need to work a few more hours in the day instead of sitting on their thumbs all day

    I was having the same problem and was desperate trying to play b:angry. I try everything PWI Support tell me to do and nothing work. Finally, in one of my attempts I found a partial solution that hope works for everybody and is that simple that I can't believe b:chuckle. This is what I'm doing:
    Right after the image with the tips load, at the black screen, I hit the Esc key and guess what? everything continue normally.
    I really hope this help U guys and everyone can play now meanwhile the PWI Staff find a definitve solution.b:laugh b:victoryb:bye

    how do you mean? i can't even get past the damn launcher for that gibberish message

    I actually did try that! It doesn't work for me for some reason T_T Maybe I'll try spamming the esc button.

    If that DOES work, then my hypothesis was right: the loading screen with the dancing green midgets uses too many resources for people with bad graphics cards or little RAM or something to handle.

    Edit: Yeah it's not working for me. What happens to me is that the loading screen loads 99% of the way then the screen goes black and a crash message comes up, so I guess it won't work for me...

    i wouldn't call 3gig ram and Nvidia gforce 9500GT bad graphics etc... but anyway i got totally frustrated at not getting a reply so i started a live chat upon talking to a guy i showed him a pic of my error message and he was like ooooh ah yes....then said we're looking at your ticket now pls allow 1-2 business days for us to look at this issue and send you some possible solutions......1-2 BUSINESS DAYS! i want to play now not next week this is really poor customer support and i think by the time they answer it the game will be long gone from my pc and i won't be using anything they provide EVER again

    Wow b:surrender Well logging tickets has been completely pointless for me so far. But they do seem to respond pretty quick; my ticket was responded to in 3 hours

    Btw I compiled all of the fixes people have had so far in the first post, so check there if you're new to the thread.

    Well I start the game, and it install the new update, but still crashes in the opening page, cant go anywhere with this game.

    Well almost getting level 40 in PW Europe, and think for sometime I will be playing there, since PWI dosent give at us any clue for this subject, if they have other prioritys, or if cant allocate ressources to this problem, or even is they are working on this... no satisfatory awnser...
    See ya after next week patch...

    well another response from staff....AGAIN blaming my hardware i wish supportstaff05 would hand my ticket to someone who knows what they are doing because i'm getting really p*****d off with this guy saying it's an hardware related issue

    lol what first loading screen mine crashes with gibberish message after i hit start...forsaken world is the exact same, YET all my other games run so obviously perfect world enterainment have some compatability problem somewhere in their software

    Ah... for me the first loading screen loads 99% of the way then it crashes.

    But I just installed virtual pc to try to see if that would be able to run it. And now my virtual pc is getting that gibberish error. -_-

    If you do not follow up with us on the tickets, how can we help you further? It helsp to send your updated dxdiags showing what things that you did update since we last asked you to. It helps us narrow down things so that we can try and search for something else to try and help you solve your problems.b:sad

    Those of you getting the error messages, they occur because of a driver or hardware conflict. Don't get defensive and automatically assume we are accusing your PC of something bad because it can't run the game for some reason. b:surrender

    I sent a lot of screenshots and my dxdiag in a ticket one week ago and all of they did was to suggest the problem are in my drivers... why they do not research to the real problem of this bug??? b:cry b:cry b:cry

    yea i'm having hte same problem as you guys T.T

    last time i remembered, flew my sin to tellus city near some snowy place, logged out...didnt' log back in for about a week, and now it crashes

    I manage to get to the new genesis log in screen ok, log in, and when i try to click on my char
    and push start, more loading, then black screen and crash T.T

    So far I tried: reinstalling, verifying client (which said it was ok and had updated to latest), turn off firewall, get files from a friend, hold w button while screen was black, optimize graphics, and turn graphics lower.

    I guess i'll try using my laptop to see if it can log in tho~


    Well lesse now: just tried the escape button spamming XD, and deleting and reinstalling a dll file (the one with a possible fix)
