Making friends is difficult nowadays...

So, I recently returned with the bright idea (hah) to try out the new Race and hug back the opportunity to reunite with this place I once loved so much. It was not all so bright though... Upon returning, discovered that:

1: People became very greedy.
2: Show-offing with gear, fashion and money amounts became an ill-willed trend amongst others.
3: People will not cease to amaze me by the fact they will simply not understand why I refuse to spend real money on this Game. That makes me unworthy of their attention.
4: Old friends became leveling-obsessed folk which barely take the time to throw you two words before going "busy" on you. And ignoring you for the rest of the day.
5: What am I even doing here?

Not like this Thread will solve anything. I just needed a place to spill out my frustration and findings. It is very sad to see once kind and talkative people become cold-shouldered monsters. Is it all the same everywhere? As a modest player, do you really always feel that left-out? Not only yesterday were times when fellow Guildies just had to mention things such as "I am so poor, I got only 35 mill QQ" when all I could save for the day was some plain 200k that was not enough even for my most "cheap" dreams regarding PW. Having to stand people that run around you in pretty expensive "pure" fashions while you wear just the rusty armor without any hint of style that could represent you at least a little bit and complaining that a few MILLIONS is poor before you when they know you do not even have the time to hope for such achievements (real life, anyone?) nor buy Gold and sell it because oh, you got bills to pay, food to buy, holidays to plan, etc. and you stare at them frustrated because you just can't afford to be all awesome with your own pixel before them and stand out... Eh.

Do not ask me why do I still play, in that case. I just want to try and enjoy this game for it's pretty graphics and landscapes like before, in those times when having expensive and pure items all over you was not everything, and people actually did sit down and talk once in a while, for the sake of it.
Now here I am... Without a whole team of "friends" ingame to talk to (like other people), frustrated, looming over Off-Topic Discussion and spilling a bit of the hatred I perceived around.
Two for sorrow. b:surrender

Indeed, Moon, humans became cruel and selfish liars. Values are lost. Morals forgotten. Friendship bound to be smothered and tossed away in dust. And we wonder why things like Japan happen. When can we learn the lesson?... When can we give our hands once again, smile, and recover what was lost when it should not be...

Money became too important, but it is always possible to meet the right people, so add me to your friend list :)

A hard truth. In the end, we all just care for ourselves. Everyone just wants to make profit out of everything. MONEY is all what people want. And once they got it, they become bored of it, get into drugs, and slowly die inside.

THE SYSTEM in which we live is totally inefficient. In a way, we destroy ourselves with the "let us all just waste all the materials available, who gives a damn ****, I can do whatever I want, I need more money, more PROFIT!"-system. If people go on living the way they do now, the earth, or rather humanity will die.

THE SYSTEM the humans live in currently destroyed NATURE'S BALANCE. We are not supposed to be immune against diseases. We are not supposed to be capable of curing diseases. Diseases are a method of the nature to restore balance. Every animal has the same fate. Envolve > exist > extinguish. Humanity is no exception. We are not supposed to live such a long life. We are not supposed to be THAT MANY! While humanity grows bigger and bigger, the earth, animals, and plants die. . .

    Hah.
Funny, I was just on that topic in my own mind two days ago.

I was on my alt Barb(whom are going extinct) But I finally leveled him to 40, and commenced on my mission to test my tanking skills by doing a run with a BH29 Qingzi.
Back in my level days, that was the best spot to spend some time killing mobs, avoiding squad wipe and talking with the chit chat of random conversation.
I thought that's how it was goin' to be again.

    c.c

    Wrong.
Of every single squad I started, everyone wanted to get a level 80+ and saying they want this fast.
They'd leave squad because they wanted to join a faster squad.

D'aww, can't help but remember back when I was level 43 as a Blademaster, laying dead in the Qingzi main room as we just finished getting a squad wipe. ^^

Speed is a bonus, not a necessity.

Well, we do distort the cycles our world is based on (carbon, phosphorus, nitrogen, and hydrologic cycles), and we don't see the consequences. But we are capable of changing the system of our existence, so that it will work with, instead of against, the natural cycles. The question is will we do it quickly enough, or before we destroy our world too much.

Well I've been through that many times and I`m sure I`ll keep on going through it. I still found many people which I consider friends and with which I`m having fun in-game or on the forums or just via skype and stuff.

Met many people which just wanted to use me for something and forget about me after that. I even recall a case of a veno I met and one day he/she asked me if I want to join their squad and help them with BH69. I was still playing on my BM and he was level 71 so when I got in squad they were like 'wtf?' and she said that she thought that I`m higher level ... A few days later I saw her running around Archo however she was appearing as 'offline' on my FL which means that she deleted me. A few days ago I WCed for FC squad and I got pm from her while she was on an alt. I ignored it.

So ... don't let one or two rude people to take you down, keep on meeting and talking to people you will find many friendly people out there :)

Qft, Grim. Kas makes a good point, too.

99% of the people on this game are complete.. Nevermind, not getting banned. b:surrender

But the other 1% are people you gotta keep looking for.

It'll be worth the effort. b:cute

To understand reality is not the same as to know about outward events. It is to perceive the essential nature of things. The best-informed man is not necessarily the wisest. Indeed there is a danger that precisely in the multiplicity of his knowledge he will lose sight of what is essential. But on the other hand, knowledge of an apparently trivial detail quite often makes it possible to see into the depth of things. And so the wise man will seek to acquire the best possible knowledge about events, but always without becoming dependent upon this knowledge. To recognize the significant in the factual is wisdom.

Not much has changed since the old days actually....except perhaps gotten worse. With so many players (even with many more servers) now competition has shot through the roof in many (but not all) ways and with so many unfamiliar faces appearing, passing and disappearing every few months or less it's not really worth the effort. I made only one friend from PWI who I kept in contact with outside of PWI and even then I got tired of her selfishness and egotism and just moved on.

There are a few (if not a lot) great people out there, they're just harder to find, especially since MMORPGs often bring out the worse in everyone.

I am a newbie-level 24 wizard. There is another game that I have been playing for much longer than PW and have made many friends there. When I started playing PW, I thought it would be the same however I have found it hard to meet even one person. I feel a bit like one tiny fish in an ocean of countless other faceless, nameless fish. I have chalked it up to the massive number of people playing PW. I can't say it is just the fault of everyone else-I am still trying to learn the basics and after reading all the horror stories of people who were asked to join a squad and then treated rudely for lack of whaatever they were looking for that I have turned on the ignore squad requests. My first impression when reading the forum was that I had joined a group of whiny, selfish players who can never be satisfied. Since then, I have read posts that give me hope-and I really! enjoy playing. I am not a chatty Cathy and never will be ( LOL-this note is long inded for me) but having some people to reach out to would be nice. For now, I am concentrating on doing my quests and figuring out the game-that alone takes up 99 percent of my concentration. Sorry for the long windedness-just wanted to say I have found most of the above posts to be pretty much on the mark. Play well and have fun everyone

I have had trouble finding friends in Perfect World. It seems the way the game is set up makes interacting and growing with others hard. Trying to find groups of people you can level and quest with seems hard because if you miss a little bit they get so far ahead you can't really join them unless they stop to help you catch up. Even factions are little or no help in my experience. I have been in a few "helpful and friendly" factions but I still end up finding random squads to do 99% of the content. So I am constantly interacting with different people and never getting to know anyone.

You can't really give up this early, trust me. The effort is well worth it.

That is indeed the other side of the coin. Humans kill each other, humans die from disasters. . .And in the end, it is totally normal for those things to happen. Way back, the human had to kill to survive. So killing is his nature. Disasters existed before any life on earth. Plate tectonic and vulcans were active. Nowdays it seems like the human being things that he is superior to such things. . .

I can completely sympathise with the OP, some people and 'friendly, helpful' factions are, to say the least, playing by a different set of rules. Don't give up though, you can get lucky, and I did, my fac really is fun friendly and helpful, and I have friends in it of all levels. When I need it higher levels are always willing to help me, and I really enjoy helping out lower level guildies with their questing/grinding w/e, and money-heads tend not to stay too long. Keep looking, you will find a place to fit in!
