do i have come back to PWI but i want some hardcore pvp action.
i care for no other class than the Assassin, and the Archer.
i can play both. and i wouldnt mind playing an alt when the time comes, but my question comes to be what are pros and cons of both? could the archer, if played correctly, dominate pvp?
could the Assassin, given his stealth, dominate?
within a world pk situation and not a one on one preplanned battle, who would win?

Honestly i think you would be better of trying another game0

Hmmm....
Here are the steps to find your answer...
1. Log on to Lost City server.
2. Make your way over to Silver Pool.
3. Notice the classes battle in PVP.
4. See all the dead Clerics, Archers, Wizzies, BMs, Barbs, Venos, and Psys...
5. Draw conclusion that people who know how to play the Sin class, have 5.0 APS and
know the other classes weaknesses... will own PVP.
6. Log on to forum and start a new thread about how Sins are OP.
7. Get mad and ragequit because everyone tells you to get over it.
8. Repeat in 3 months.
Hope this helps.
(Sorry to be a smart*** but do a search next time.)[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
Assassin dominates everything:
-PvP
-FCC
-Highest damager
-Can wield both bow,fist and dagger.0 -
as for all the **** *** comments, i have searched the forums, and these questions have not been answered in my verdict.
let alone most them are posted in a class section of assassin or archer = biased opinions....
but if an assassin can 5aps. classes could surely be able to counter this.0 -

Other classes do have the ability to counter 5aps with stuns or use range (if they have it) to their advantage, but when a sin stuns you from out of stealth and starts smacking you with 5aps it's pretty much game over.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
Any class can "dominate" pvp when you have a perfect knowledge of the class, skills, gear and the lvl. However, both archer and sins are good choices... But well, as I said there's no real "bad choice" for a class.
If you really want some pros and cons, I'd say:
sin pros: stealth, teleport-stun on a target, got some stuns, got tons of skills to make it get full chi easily which allows to spark alot, can get an insane crit rate due to some skills... cons: melee class, which is itself a con when it comes to pvp since you gotta run/fly to your target and it can make things harder against ranged class who can keep running away and still able to attack you while you can't, light armor class which means average defenses on both mag and phy attacks, so generally, if you don't put alot of money in a sin, it's still a squishy.
archer pros: ranged class (as I said, it's one of the biggest advantage in pvp) with the longest range in-game due to a passive skill, hits hard - can hurt very bad arcane classes with not enough phy def and even one-shot if you have very good weapon (well, sins too, but sins damage is more based on their attack speed, and archer are more based on spike damage), high crit rate too (same "base" crit rate as sins usually, but they don't have skills to increase it alot like sins), they have some stuns, they have some skills with added magic damage (metal) which can be useful agaisnt ppl with low magic defense (such as heavy armored ppl), have a skill to reduce target's max HP, have a constant AoE which can be set in TW to hurt everyone who goes in its range (barrage of arrows)...
cons: light armor user like sins so same thing goes for the squishiness if you don't invest enough on gear, if the target is too close it cuts down the archer's damage with regular arrows...
NB: Those are generalities, I don't speak of particular cases, everyone play their char their own way. Plus, this is only for PvP, since PvE is a whole lot different.[SIGPIC]http://pwi-forum.perfectworld.com/image.php?type=sigpic&userid=8149449004&dateline=1294904331[/SIGPIC]

The only place where assassin is rather useless is Territory War.
If you are into TW, go for archer.
If not - assassin.

I'm wondering whether you have looked at the Assassin skills. They have more two stuns, one sleep, one immobilize, one slow, one silence, two teleports, two speed skills, as well as two skills that allow them to dodge either attacks or status effects, not to mention they can slow physical attacks by 50-65%. All of this and if they for any reason fail at them all, can use stealth to get out of the fight.
Melee for an Assassin is only a disadvantage when fighting against other melee characters. Even this though is negated with either Demon or Sage Rib Strike, since Demon reduces their attack rate by 65% and Sage decreases their maximum health by 10%. On top of using Subsea Strike with Tangling Mire and getting back up to full chi with just an instant cast of Inner Harmony, I'd say the Assassin is pretty much the perfect class, whose only disadvantage is wearing light armor. Even that though can be tossed aside and a HA Assassin can still do fairly well with a full fist build going with either Demon or Sage.
As for being squishy, we have an additional 20% health due to Deaden Nerves, 35% with Demon. I don't think I even need to mention the advantages of Blood Paint with the high damage an Assassin deals. Sharding with Flawless Citrines does not cost that much anymore, so I would say Assassins don't have too much to worry about when it comes to being squishy, at later levels anyways.0 -

you don't really need to know about the other classes at all, or know how ta play a sin for that matter. just make a sin, or even an archer with 5.0 aps..... there ya go, yer dominant pvp class has been created...0 -
what about territory wars, do both have signifigance there? what is their role?0

i can tell you one thing for sure. if you plan on limiting your knowledge of this game to only archer and sin. your going to have a hell of a hard time in pvp. Whether or not you only play 2 class you should still take the time to learn every class. You wont stand a fighting chance in PvP vs anyone if you don't know what thier strengths, weaknesses, and what to expect when you come on contact with them.Killing level 80's with a lvl 60 is a lot more fun than killing level 90's with a level 100.0 -

Assassin **** anything. Archer still have hard time beating sin due to the fact that sin always get the first hit which is most of the times stun/sleep/immobilize u name it.0

Archers do not posess a jump back of any kind. They do however have a skill that allows them to run away at max speed for a few seconds; regrettably, everyone else does too (holy path Genie skill). Currently, there is speculation that a seeker or Mystic may be a counter to 5.0 in pvp, due to a few things:
Seekers posess self buffs allowing them to stun on every attack (20% chance ._.;;) a "buff" that allows them to attack while in motion, a stun tackle and the ability to boomerang negative status back at their opponent. Seekers are very neg status reliant however.
Mystics are in posession of a series of buffs that feel anti-aps, but unfortunately I'm not high enough level on my mystic to actually confirm this as of yet. A mystic is in posession of a buff that they can cast on anyone allowing them to rez immediately after death, a quazi-Healing hands (if you've played GW before you know what I'm talking about) where as they get hurt they regen HP. Finally, their cadre of traps, "skill based" pets, "PVP knockback" and "plantable Blue bubble," they're likely the class you're going to hear sins complaining about.Good intentions are like peeing yourself in dark leather pants, you get warm feelings inside, but it doesn't show.0 -
