    How about a teaser trailer contest for the Archosaur Assault event? Something that would show players what they can expect from the event, set to some pulse-pounding music.

    And perhaps the winner would have his or her video posted every time we announce the event via news post? Along with some other prize...

    Not a bad idea. b:thanks My only concern there would be that it might limit who (feels?) they can participate - the event is limited to a certain time, and might also "frighten off" film-makers who don't feel they can be competitive in said event.

    That would be an awesome bonus - I miss seeing the (semi-)weekly Featured Video newsposts. With prep-work for Genesis, it's understandable that you'd have too much on your plate already to keep up with that, though.
    Along with some other prize...

    Personal concern: if it's a GM-sponsored prize, it'd also be the staff deciding the winner. I don't mean any offense by saying so, but that Fashion design contest really called PWE's taste and judgement into question. While I am heartily in favor of official support for this endeavor, I'm just not comfortable with PWE staff calling the shots.

    Something I've been thinking on - how do you compare an intentionally "funny" video against an awesomely "epic" one? Maybe it'd be best to limit things to a certain genre, for simplicity's sake - though I'd prefer to have as broad a theme as possible to allow many interpretations.

    Two more days and I can stop bumping this bloody thread. And from the looks of it, will have to start a new one - "Film Contest!"
    Meh... at least that one will have content worth requesting a temp. sticky for.

    Until then! post your ideas, thoughts, and concerns. Nothing's written in stone yet and I'm still looking to hear any good concepts for a theme or genre.

    Funny vs Epic is like Apples vs Coconuts. Totally different scales that shouldn't be compared against each other.

    More or less my thought as well. My only fear is having people decline to enter because they don't think they can do "X kind of video" well. And the flip-side of that, having to rule out a film (from the top 5, remember the public is voting for the "final" winner) because it's awesome, but not of the correct genre*.
    ...Although I'd prefer to avoid issues of that nature by leaving it more open, I can see the need to narrow the scope a bit, if only so that all films submitted can adhere to the same standard - or be clearly weeded out if they do not.



    *The thoughts surrounding the Blockbuster Trailer contest of so long ago were almost unanimous in thinking Nao Shimai's "Perfect Heroes" should have placed first - an opinion I myself agree with. Instead, 'imPerfect' was voted by the staff as the top video, because although Nao's was superior in most every respect, it was a trailer for an adventure/comedy, something off-genre from what the contest was actually looking for, and ended up placing third instead.

    Thoughts to consider:
    -How do EGs feel/react to emerging in Perfect World?
    -How do all the other races react?
    -What would your character think of all this?
    -What other ways can "New Arrival" be interpreted?
