Please don't spam - one topic in the general forum is more than enough to get people's attention. I will remove all your posts and move this one to the general discussion.

It is an interesting project, hopefully this could blossom into a reference/resource of general PWi stuff.
Goodluck in the project. b:victory[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

My bad. b:surrenderKnownase wrote:It is an interesting project, hopefully this could blossom into a reference/resource of general PWi stuff.
Goodluck in the project.
If you know people who would be interested (or yourself), please tell them about it, it'll make my life easier and it'll prevent me from spamming the forums b:chuckle
And yes, the idea is to make it a reference of PWI (and maybe a help for the staff of PW).0 -
Hey ! That's an awesome idea !!!! How come nobody thought about this already ?
I'm not very good at writing, etc... but I completely support this project !
Did you get any applications yet ? I think I know someone that would be interested in this........
I wish you good luck in this project and keep us up with what's going on with it.0 -

To answer your question, I haven't had any application nor "serious" reply on this subject... I honestly thought people would be motivated to make something more out of this awesome game.
PWI, stop grinding and move your butt ! lol0 -

There's no reward, thus no interest.
You're talking about a rather large time investment to create a blog that basically encompasses opinions/facts about the game that most people can infer simply reading the news posts.
A blog is an interesting idea, but if you want this cash shopper vs non-cash shopper community to take a serious interest in it, you'll have to sweeten the deal.
Edit: If you can get PWE to endorse your blog, i.e. come up with some reward system, then you might have more luck finding "recruits".0 -

The more we are on it, the less is the large time investment.
It's sad that you think that everything you do must get a reward... What do you play this game for ? Does it make you have a better salary ? Does it make you get good marks at school ? etc...... If you answer is "no" to these questions, then you're not getting rewarded for your time and efforts your spend in-game. Nevertheless you still play, don't you ?
I'm sure you know the ecathomb website. What is his reward ? He hosts a website (=> costs money), works on the data and keep them up to date, etc... Many people use his website, don't they ? What does he get from it ? All the infos are free and he's not officially supported by PWE.
For exemple, you. You are level 101. What's your point playing the game ? You achieved it all (or close to it) !
If we don't start giving this World a life after you close your game (once you've done your WQ, CS and BH of the day), it will become a poor point&slash game based on lot of grind and daily quests.
In my opinion, such a blog would give a better feeling of a living world as I'm sure there is a lot going on in there outside FBs, dailies, BHs and stuff. Isn't there ??
Why do you think WoW has such a success ? It's not better than PWI, they just have a better community management.
EDIT : and if you read the content of the blog in the first post, you'll see that there is more to it than just cat-shoppers vs cash-shoppers stuff.....0 -

I think you miss the vital point(s).
When I said cash shopper vs non-cash shopper, I wasn't referring to content in your hypothetical blog, it was referring to the community and how it's divided.
Secondly, am I to understand you don't know anything about TW or the economy, or what things are like at end game? Because WQ/CS/FBs are non-factors.
Thirdly, I doubt that the person/peoples running PW-info sites had to start threads and ask for help. They went ahead and did it themselves.
For example, if you went ahead and made your blog, put some content on it to give people an idea of what it's "really like", you may/may not have more interested people.
Telling people they should do things even if they don't get rewards out of it isn't going to get you any helpers for this blog. If there's incentive, people will react to it. Finding people who'd dedicate time to something like that is difficult, but good luck nonetheless.0 -
Teny wrote:When I said cash shopper vs non-cash shopper, I wasn't referring to content in your hypothetical blog, it was referring to the community and how it's divided.
Okay, I missunderstood you there, but there are more divisions than just cash shopping... That's not the point here anyway, but it surprised me...Teny wrote:Secondly, am I to understand you don't know anything about TW or the economy, or what things are like at end game? Ok, WQ/CS/FBs are non-factors... So what are factors ?Teny wrote:Thirdly, I doubt that the person/peoples running PW-info sites had to start threads and ask for help. They went ahead and did it themselves.
If I do it alone, that means I have to have a character in each server and gather the infos from each server then make a sum up of all that. Alone.Teny wrote:For example, if you went ahead and made your blog, put some content on it to give people an idea of what it's "really like", you may/may not have more interested people.
Alone, it would be just another blog that eventually will die soon after its beggining. But with help, we can build something more solid and more useful, together.
I could run this blog alone, but what tells me anyone will ever help me ? I love this game, but I won't dedicate my life to it. But mostly, I don't want to start something and not be able to give it the quality it deserves. That's not how I am. Either I do things correctly, or I don't do them.Teny wrote:Telling people they should do things even if they don't get rewards out of it isn't going to get you any helpers for this blog. Also, as i said before, the more we are, the less work we have.0 -
Here are a few more topics you could perhaps look into (though this might fall under the economics part of it)
Fashion Market-incompasing dyes, layering and pricing across servers. I know I'd like to get a good idea before I make any serious purchase, and while people can "do it themselves" as far as dyes/random dyes reserch and what actually works in the layering pallet through the Preview fash button, a compilation would be nice.
Mounts- Whats the most visially easy mounts on the eyes, recoomended mounts for TW both air and ground, which ones are more graphic intensive etc. as well as rarity guides/pricings etc. While fast mounts tend to be the flashiest, does the speed actually make that much of a difference in PvP or TW situations? Perhaps exploring this more would be of some interest to people?
Herb/Mine market- Ahhhhh Herbs *drools* I myself have delved a bit into this on my server and am constantly farming/selling so I can give a semi clear view on the herb market on my server. Though be warned thsi is one of those topics that are "I use this to make money so I dont liek to divulge my secrets" so dont expect too many peopel to want to share their in-depth secrets of teh trade (though Im sure they won't mind discussing a few tips) Included routes (there's a google herb map actually that is very nifty-however it does NOT cover heaven/hell), alternative paths for apoth making to get your level 6 and up apoth, tips on the market and what to do etc.
Just some topics you coudl possibly explore? BTW for thsoe that say there's no real incentive-that goes for that PWWiki too. No one was really "rewarded" for giving up knowledge yet it's there for pppl to search, however incomplete it may or may not be. Good luck on your project-and if I ever have time I might be interested in trhowing up a blurb about one of these topicsTamias-

I could see myself contributing some insight into the in-game markets. Perhaps a post or two a month outlining where the in-game money currently is/isn't.
Also, if the Blog was independent from PWI and truly interested in being "Insider", then I've got a bunch of otherwise secret knowledge about the game that isn't appropriate to post about on the official forums, but I guarantee would be very interesting to many...[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

@ Tamias :
Yeah it could fall under the economics part of the blog, but I honestly didn't think about those. The PWiki was a very good exemple !
To conclude with your post, Tamias, I would appreciate your help really much for what you can/want to do for your server b:pleased

Although, it would be good to have some simple interactions between the blog and PWE...
As for your secrets, we will see if they fit in the blog depending on the level of "inappropriateness" of the secrets. b:laugh
Would you guys be okay if I make your names appear in the description post following what you told me to be interested in doing ?

Speak for yourselves, I got a fishy from posting to the wiki
And since I post here, and there, I doubt I really have time to post anywhere else.
As a tip - it's a LOT easier to recruit, if people can see what they are joining.
"Here is this well run blog of cool stuff, see, look at all the cool stuff! Why don't you help pitch in?"
will get a LOT better response than "Here is a blank or obviously freshly created site with no content, will you build it for me?" which will get a lot better response than just posting a thread asking for help. Which is what happenned here.0 -

I'm not saying "build it FOR me", I'm saying "build it WITH me". I understand that people want to know what this is all about, but I don't know if it will look so cool if I do it on my own, even just for a start... Basically, I was looking for people to cover what I have no/few clues about in order to provide fully reliable info, which would not be the case if I talk about subjects I don't master.
Anyway, I think you are right, I'll try to come out with something good for my server and we'll start from there.
Though, if you have suggestions please let me know !Vitenka wrote:Speak for yourselves, I got a fishy from posting to the wiki

Reasons why I wouldn't join:
1.High levels is more or less needed to have proper knowledge of the game, how things work etc..
2.Nothing for me to see how it is at.I wouldn't join a beta of a game if they didn't have any framework.Same concept for websites
3.I would trust and work someone with some reputation or somebody is more well-known than someone who is a new face.0 -
KageYingZi wrote:1.High levels is more or less needed to have proper knowledge of the game, how things work etc..
The only thing a high level is more aware of is location related. High levels know what all the areas of the map look like, what mobs are there, know all the instances...but that's all.
The things I'm talking about don't need to be high level because it has nothing to do with quests, locations or strategy. You only need to have a little while in the game to understand it, and I think I've been here long enough to have some knowledge.KageYingZi wrote:2.Nothing for me to see how it is at.I wouldn't join a beta of a game if they didn't have any framework.Same concept for websitesKageYingZi wrote:3.I would trust and work someone with some reputation or somebody is more well-known than someone who is a new face.
I may not have a "reputation", but I don't need it because I have something more important : my RL job was about community management, that means doing websites, manage forums, newsletters, communication, chats, customer service, etc...
Who needs reputation when they have experience ?
You know what ? Anybody can have "reputation" : I can buy tons on teles and speak all the time in WC, I can react to every forum thread I see... Reputation is based on this :
number of times people see you / number of times you made a good impression.
Anyone can joke arround and get a good reputation, does that mean they're qualified to run projects ?
Get off of your computer for a while and see how the world is not limited to Perfect World International, you'll see that there are a bunch of nice and clever people out there that don't know a thing about FF or BH but that would run projects better than you (based on what you say and how you say it, you assume you have a good reputation...).
For your information, I'm a 2007 "new face"....
To conclude, KageYingZi, I will only say that if you don't want to work with me on this project, then don't, I most certainly won't force you.

This will take alot of work, but I'm willing to throw my name into the hat.
I'm part of a active TW fac, and I do quite a bit of merching in pretty much every market.
If you ever need info on the Raging Tides server, I'd be happy to write an article b:cute

I'm afraid you misunderstood me.
I'm not doubting your ability to run a website.
I'm just saying you got nothing to show and nothing showing you got the experience in the game.
And I don't say that I'm better than most people.I'm just saying I feel comfortable working someone I know for sure that he can do it.0 -

Looks very promising so far I must say. I've read suggestions before about ''iPhone apps for PWE so we can keep track of things without being ingame'', and this could be just as good.
I'm not much of an ''insider'' when it comes to PWI economics and such, but I can give you a hand with the visual aspects of the blog if you want.
We're on the same server so you can drop me a PM whenever you're on (My IGN is without the capital N).[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

As for your expension to other servers question, we are going to get all the servers up with news as soon as we have people from each server to provide them...
Gathering all the infos of all the subjects the blog covers is a pretty long work for someone working alone to cover it all, so I can't be on the 7 servers...
Spread the word in your server so we can find people interested in contributing for Harshlands (give them the link to this thread eventually).
Thanks for your support guys/girls !0
