Hi Everyone,

I have a simple mount question:

Once I buy a Mount for my level 20 and higher characters do they need anything else in order to use the mount, such as a quest, or additional item, or anything? Please let me know.

I dont want to buy a mount and then be stuck needing something extra and suddenly theres a catch and I cant use the mount.

Same question goes for ground and flying mounts.

Thank you for taking the time.
Jon

Mounts need to be fed the way veno pets need to be fed. You can find these foods at the pet skill trainer/pet manager.

However, if you get a tome then no more feeding necessary :)

A mount has to be converted from egg to mount to which also has a price tag ;) it's not too expensive though (at least not for the mounts that I have/had) reverting it to an egg usually costs a pretty penny though...

You'll only need the required minimum level stated on the (aero)mount. Spurred (upgraded) landmounts will have higher speed and a lower requisite level.

Landmounts also have a loyalty bar which you can fill up by feeding them when they're hungry (they'll get hungry over time). The higher the loyalty, the smaller the chance you'll get knocked off your mount when you're hit by a mob.

Like said above, if you equip a tome you won't need to feed the mount. Be sure to max the loyalty first, though.b:victory

You also need to hatch the mount egg (for riding mounts) into your pet bag. It costs coin, sometimes its very expensive but I don't think there is a list of prices anywhere.

Flying mounts, you just equip it like normal gear and take it off like normal gear. That also means it can be dropped if you are doing PK stuff so be careful :)

Well, that will sound silly, but you will have to hatch your ground mount egg (yes, they come in eggs) in a pet manager with the command 'hatch pet'... and so, you will need a free space in your pet bag.
If you don't have any (because of an all-class pet taking the space, or something like that), you could always do the 20 hays quest the pet manager has for every classes, or get a cage.

Otherwise, you don't need any extra quest or item, even if a tome sure helps in making the mount transcend hunger, as WritersBlock said. Just make sure you got the required level.

As for the flying mounts (aka aerogears), you don't need anything besides be sure once again it is your level.
Maintenance time. Please choose a line:
    - When is it over? OMG I need my fix!! *super spazzing*
    - Fix the damn bugs, dammit! I'm so angry! I'll quit!!
    - New codes out there? I like free stuff~ *wink*
    - When will we get new content? QQ
    - Will we get sales? I got a ton of gold to spend.
    - I'm bored, I'll create a useless thread to annoy Opkorock.
    - *Incessant poking on Sweetiebot* Fun~

Yup, that's all you'd need. Just to add, all that keeping your mount fed does is reduce the chance of you being knocked off it if a mob hits you when you ride past and aggro it. When fully fed, the chance of being knocked off is reduced to something like 10%

You can just forget about feeding it if you wish, being careful not to run into mobs, until you have a tome. Once you have a tome, you can to feed your mount to max loyalty (a tome stops loyalty from decreasing).

EDIT: There are no real costs involved with flying mounts unless you like to use its hasted speed. Flying on the hasted speed decreases the [something I can't remember the name of but that you'll see going down as you use it] and to refill that you need chi stones, which you can either buy from other players at relatively low cost or get for free by decomposing crappy armor/weapon drops (if you have the corresponding manufacturing skill & lvl to do so).
