The TW scene for Dreamweaver server was nearly ideal recently. Perfect? No. But it was much more balanced then it was in the past. It was also enjoyed by more players than before. I think this is something that all members of this server can be proud of. I realize not everyone may feel the same way, but I care little for what people of that mindset think. I tip my hat regardless.
That in mind, OP brings up some good points. Clearly, a map reset will inevitably change many aspects of TW. It is also safe to say that the changes to TW payment will also affect players and guilds alike. Ultimately, it will be up to each individual to determine what is best for them. Money hungry mercenary? Loyalist to the guild? Ambitious Ruler? Warrior of the People? Truth be told, there is no right or wrong answer. There is only you, and what you become.
In the many moons I have spent as a member of the Dreamweaver community, I have met all sort of wayfarer. Those that battle for fun and respect. Others that battle for superiority and id. The future, much like the past, will hold both these types. I know well which of the two I admire, but that is of little difference.
The point being, (as if there ever was one) is that in the end, there is little need to worry about what everyone else is doing if you are focused on what you are doing. "Be the change you want to see in the world" - or in this case, the change you want to see in TW. Realistically, you are the only person that will ever be able to satisfy your own needs anyways. Trust me, everyone else will find a way to disappoint...0 -

nah, what I'm saying is, if you say you want a fair fight, then have a fair fight.
if for example, a TW-pro-faction (regen, eq, temp and whatnot) sent in 80 against TW-nub-faction, then we must assume that- either the tw-pro-faction thinks the TW-nub-faction is NOT nub (hence, you send in everyone you can)
- or the TW-nub-faction should be steamrolled, so the "pros" can farm pk kills/ feel stronger/ whatever resaon
- There are upwards of 200 people in a "tw-pro-faction" most often and nearly all of them actually WANT to TW, even if it means a quickie, "easy" TW - we spend a lot of time preparing for war and, believe it or not, are rather let down when it ends too quickly - NOT because we want to farm PK kills but rather because we actually enjoy this group activity with our family members. I can't tell you how many times I have heard our great leader (BaldwinBoy FTW) say on vent "Let's be respectful, guys, they tried, no zhenning the spawn/farming kills/etc."
You forgot a reason, just thought I'd help out and add it in for you....Hazumu - Dreamweaver wrote: »What do you mean with "Most 'smaller' factions" Willow? Depending on the definition of what you mean with "smaller" what you said there can be either incredibly ignorant, or very true indeed...
The fact is that the server has too many factions trying to grow and not enough new players to feed that growth, which leads to dozens of fragmentated factions trying to cling to their own name wanting to grow, but not wanting to go under anyone elses name.
Look, if nobody comes together under one name, nobody grows. That's a fact, you want factions to grow? Then join a faction that is almost big enough to poke at the map and don't just form a new one just because you want the 'leader' part on your name.
So come on people... if you want more TW factions, they need to be made, they don't form out of thin air, they consist of real people. The big factions ain't gonna give us anything, why should they? If one faction can take it all, then they should take it all, that's the whole point. But all that means is that if they don't give us anything, we need to take it.
Oh Zumipoo... when would I ever make a rude, ignorant statement in regards to Bushido? You know darn well it wasn't you or my "other" family I was speaking of. Bushido has hung strong and put forth more effort than I have ever seen from what some might consider a "small" faction. Bushido is anything but small in heart and soul and I can't tell you the pride I felt to see ya'll on the map again.
There aren't enough people like you in this game, Zumi. The loyal, the steadfast, the motivated, and the faithful. I remember when I first said to Imajica "We are merging with Bushido" and you were darn unhappy with it. Yet look now, what? A year and a half later? You are saying to us exactly what I said to you back then - if we want to grow, we have to merge, we have to give a little, and I'm willing to let go of my leader tag to help my "small" faction do it. And look at you now, babe - outlasted me in Bushido, hell, you guys outlasted a heck of a lot of Bushido "originals" b:chuckle
The sad fact is, there aren't enough people willing to let go of their own ego (IE. their own leader tag) to do what might be best for their own faction.

It was more out of lack of challenge, not greed.
When you have only 1 defense per weekend, on a faction with over 80 available defenders. You have to keep attacking so you can make sure everyone gets their fair share of fun. And even then, it's impossible to slot everyone in. Sure, we could "break up" but we've been together for almost 3 years now. What changed was the name, the philosophy and the ideals behind it, remain alive. Can you say the same?
You may wanna check your sources there Jay. We always made sure our TW income was shared equally, not to the top 80 like other factions did. We always tried to pay back to the server by helping those of low levels with their quests. What did you guys do with your smaller (but still morbid) TW payouts week in and week out?[sigpic][/sigpic]
We came, we saw, we painted it red.

lol people join the strongest factions to run away from challenge, not to look for it. Building, maintaining or just keeping up the good fight in a small faction, that's hard. Getting the Victory screen with the biggest faction on server, that's easy. Already I'm seeing people flock to the bigger factions. Enjoy TW while it lasts ppl, this may be the most fun map we'll ever have0

Pardon me, but when I joined Calamity, I came from a very small, non-TW faction... If you can't wrap your little brain around what that means, I'll spell it out for you... When small factions don't TW, or TW and get slaughtered in 6 minutes or less, there is no challenge. When a person like me joined a faction like Calamity, you better believe I found some challenge. I went from being a big fish in a small pond to being one of the smallest in a rather large pond. I was underleveled, undergeared, and underexperienced. The challenge was in the learning how to better myself with the help of a great faction and how not to get my *** pwned by EQ week in and week out.
So yeah... joining a big, strong faction is hardly the same as running from a challenge.
And yes, it is hard building, maintaining, and keeping up the good fight in a small faction - been there, done that, and you know what? After a heck of a long time of it, it gets rather boring, to be honest. It's no fun to talk to yourself in faction chat because the 10 other people actually online are afk or catshops...
And lastly, getting the victory screen in the "strongest" faction on the server... not really as easy every time as you make it sound. We do actually show up and do some work, you know... Saying you see people "flocking to the bigger factions" is really... well... idk, it made me LOL, I can say that. Bigger factions are already... well... big... they don't really accept flocks as they have limited space, so.... Yeah, thanks for the giggles.
And I figure this map will be just as fun as it was a few months ago when we had the pseudo-reset with the death of Calamity... Rainbow map FTW!0 -
You're just confirming my point here. You didn't have the patience or dedication to make your small faction something good, so you left and joined the strongest pre-established faction. If everyone does what you do, we get 1 color map with almost no TW activity. Oh wait. And yes making a faction is infinitely harder then getting just better gear and fighting TW. Bandwagoning FTL0

what u r saying is true making a faction is way harder than getting gears but the better question is... is it even possible? nowdays to get a good faction with a super power tag u have to have originated from the begging of the server or so lets look at the factions "really" ruling the map now dynasty eq regensis tempest. dynasty and eq r one of the oldest factions that existed ever since the server first opened regensis on the other hand is the remaking of calamity which was even older than eq and dynasty, tempest(correct me if i am wrong) is the unity of all the old midpowered factions merged up to form a super power sooooooo this gives us 2 scenarios for getting a super power
1: existing since the server opens
2: merging of midpowered factions
now i been playing for 3 years in the past 2 years i never saw a faction rising with super or even mid power status without the 2 past scenarios many tried all failed just look at all the nameless factions out there yet everyone on DW knows what is regenesis, dynasty, eq, tempestFirefeng - Dreamweaver wrote: »I recall getting paid every time I TWed under Ajay, but memory is such a fickle female dog.
uhm i am pretty sure he didnt give TW my friends in eq told me that i was suprised when they told me and i made fun of them for weeks about that[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

I'm sorry if it is seems like I'm attacking any particular faction. Its not super powers fault at that ppl go to them. Its just that...bandwagoning is so frustrating and essentially kills TW. "If you can't beat them, join them" yeah there's a lot of that mindset going around. Its all very disappointing =/
I think Tempest is a best example so far of a faction thats been fairly small for a long time and recently made it big (and is now struggling >.>). There's a lot of mid-sized factions with a lot of potential here in DW. The question is, can ppl be bothered to stay long enough for it to grow and become bigger? Will the strongest ppl in the strongest factions ever think about spreading out more in search of a tougher challenge?
Gah ignore meh, I'm just ranting about people being people, nothing anyone can do about it0 -

Nah, you're right, I was confusing Jay (first leader of EQ) with Ajay. I missed out on a coupla payments under Ajay and was ignored when I brought it up.0 -
Loarvion - Dreamweaver wrote: »tempest(correct me if i am wrong) is the unity of all the old midpowered factions merged up to form a super power
Correct is:
Tempest is not a merging of midpowered factions.
Sometimes small groups of 'same guild' people have been accepted into the guild. And this acceptance is done through application reviews. Officer titles are earned, not 'imported'.
As for the question of TW mindset:
Lots of text has been typed to adress TW problems, also made clear by all the proposed 'fixes'. The devs tried to fix it, and now just revert to the old. Not a fix imo.
For me, attending the first excursions into the TW instance many months ago. And still be in that guild, not at the top of the member list speaks for itself.
I'm sure the first few weeks will be fun for many, after that... questionmark.0 -

- tempest mindset about tw is a mystery. you guys have way too many [censored] in your faction, i can't tell whether your attitude during tw was part of your strategy or just lack of character of your members.
- am glad though you kicked [BLEEP], a former members of [my faction].
- care to explain what tempest is tryin to achieve? thought of tempest as a somewhat respectful faction - in the past. but ever since the 1st map reset you were bff with eq and lost many positive members. well, seeing that [name of director] has left you to join [tw pro faction] does give temp a chance to become the good ol' tempest though.
- b:victory to avoid misunderstandings:
this is my personal view, i do dislike your former director yes and i do dislike tempest's attitude in tw.

1. Whats the mystery to our TW mindset? We just like to have fun and get better and better at the most dynamic event of the game.
2. Dunno who you are referring to :P Which faction are you in?
3. As i said above, what Tempest is trying to achieve is having fun and getting the best we can be as I guess most factions do. /We still are a respectable faction (well, i hope we are seen as such by the the largest part of the Dreamweaver community)/since the 1st map reset we attacked EQ and got a territory from them, then we got attacked back and lost two territories from them. I dont think thats a very friendly gesture :P /Our former director left in good terms and I hope he is happy with his new family, he really helped Tempest to become what you describe as "the good old Tempest" and we are thankful for his efforts.
What do you particularly dislike about our attitude in TW? There arent many factions that would wait for 35 minutes for a faction of equal strength (Dynasty) to finish a TW, so we could both enjoy the event. We could have easily have 9-10 lands by playing it safe, but where is the challenge to that?0 -
