I think they should freshen up the looks, AND the effectiveness of some skills to match the newer classes.

I didn't realize how stiff the older animations like running were until I was so used to playing my assassin. Then I was leveling a cleric and realized how unnatural the movement was and how much more detailed the tideborns seem to look.

They should update the old classes to make them more appealing, visually and in the effectiveness of playing. Like barb aggro skills need to be beefed up.

And I totally agree with more customization options with barbs. They should be able to change their fur colour at the very least. And, they should turn into whatever form they are upright (pandas shouldn't turn into tigers..)

Overall the old classes need to be improved in more way than one to compete with the newer classes.

    Veno:
    - Give some animation to summoning a pet or removing the pet

this would be nice. sometimes when changing pets i get this paranoid notion that my squadmates must be confused why i'm just standing there doing nothing, what with the pet fade-out being so slow and my toon not moving.
going through this topic is like reading the announcements in the public square of Retardia.

sure, fix the god damn animations, that will bring balance to the game.

now, now. balancing the game would require careful thought, programming, testing, and playtesting to make sure it's right and doesn't introduce any new exploitable corner cases. that's serious effort; you can't expect them to expend such resources on the game right after they've just finished this huge new investment in the expansion. besides, rebalancing would've really been needed right after (make that before, in testing) raging tides came out, and if they couldn't justify it then, what makes you think we'll get it now?

whereas overhauling the graphics would only take... serious effort from a graphics team, an animation team, possibly a sound team, with appropriate artistic direction to keep it from looking patched together, all to make some other artists' years-old work look different...

in other words, we might as well be wishing for some ponies here.

With all this talk of revamping the players and the landscape, what about the mobs? I for one am tired of going all over the map just to fight a Farren mob, or go into heaven/hell and fight a mix of TT/Frost mobs. The mobs need to all look different, or at the very least, look different from one another, or they could do different things instead of: hit, hit, hit, *channeling* purple smoke hit you, or an ice ball. Just my opinion.

I know it's not directly related to skills but...

Give barbs customization options. Actually allow us to change more than what one of 4 animals we are, and what color eyes we have. Oh and allow us to wear hats.

    This.

I want to see pink fur panda's and orange wolves. Also, I would like to look ridiculous just like everyone else by wearing a hat/wig.

I do not think they should change how the skills look in anyway.... I mean look at the psychic skills... now I would be all for fancier graphics however this dated engine cannot handle them on a system above the requirements when coupled together with other players in squads using them in say RB.

Now they could simply clean up some glitches with certain skills and add some more variety to the genie skill list. That would work.

no wonder with such ... audience ... the devs will change nothing to this game. It's not needed. Give more flashy skills, keep the game imbalance. Idiots will be happy having a nice animation to skill channel while they die before charm can tick. MOAR fashion an mounts for everyoane, at least if we get roflpwn by one class that's DD, tank and AOE healer, at least let's look good while laying on a side asking for a rez or thinking when to press that "go to town" button.

Stop trying to troll for the sake of it. re-vamping the old classes to make them more appealing sounds like a good idea, trying to "balance" this game out will be forever posted. if youve lost all hope for the game, stop playing / posting.
its people like you who make me *facedesk* if the animation is the same time as the old with just a different look there is no difference.

    YES, please!

    Especially this :

    Make a venos' bramble hood & bramble guard work in PvP. I'M ON A PVP SERVER FOR CRYING OUT LOUD! It's our only main defense, if you don't count genie. X,.,x;

Sins stun lock > crit like hell > disappear when you're about to finish them. Why can't a veno have their bramble hood? b:angry

Yes plz make new graphics for old classes! It will encourage ppl to play old classes (as opposed to wat happened in RT server....mass TB classes QQ). It would be great if all the skills can be patched to look just a bit nice :D

    Wizard:
    - Most skills look very foolish, not really the animation itself, it is the way the character moves. Stone rain, gush, and pyro are released channeled and released strangely. Maybe can change the stances to make the wizard more regal. Also BIDS have good animation, but the character does look kind of stupid in the air.
    - Good ones: Blade Tempest, Sand storm

    Archer:
    - Most are pretty awful. At least change the male spinning motions. The female spinning might be attractive though....so keep that. Maybe a jump shot?

    Barbs:
    - Frighten should not be gold swords....but otherwise i think animations are not that bad.
    - i agree with the previous post, give them more animal choices! They are such an important class, if I were a barb i would like: dog, horse, eagle, unicorn, dragon...you know... or pig

    Venos:
    - I think the heals for pets can be improved. Looks like sprinkling water
    - Their skills looks too similar just different colors......

    BMs:
    - The AOEs are not that bad, but to match the seekers.....need more explosions! And the BM buff can use an upgrade too...instead of a guy arching his back.

    Clerics:
    - I think they need different healing animations, and need distinction between the tempest and thunder skills. One is just longer and more intense than the other. Playing clerics can be boring "spam 1 button" or afk BB, so they really need to look more appealing.

TB classes: already have beautiful animations

oh.. what are you talking about? This game is well-balanced enough. For example, we have 5 aps to farm things faster and classes-wise, they each have their own jobs. For example, sins are excellent at PvE and specialise in PvP, venos specialise in digging chest and so on...

What we need is graphical revamp! not balance!

Who cares about the how the old skills look, but lets care about them keeping up with the newer classes. IE: Flesh Ream or the fact that Sins do more damage than archers and hit much faster.... Physics hit as hard if not harder than wizards (at least from my experience in PVP) and have much, much, much better effects to their skills than mages and clerics... ect. The new classes that come with the expansion will probably make wizard, barbs, clerics, and archers obsolete between the RT and Genesis expansions b:shutup

Edit: But why bother, nothing will change no matter how much you complain. This use to be a awesome game before Age of the Spirits came about.

sidenote: i think most old classes like wizzies and archers are fine actually. I worry more about a wizard 1 shotting me with a simple skill like sandstorm then I do a psychic. There's like less then 20 super oped psy's compared to the dozens of oped wizzies running around 1 shotting with gush lol Venos need a revamp though. You can't upgrade your pets after maxed skills besides lvl (which slows/stops at 100-102). Clerics im on the fence about. Barbs need better agro skills (fleshream apparently doesnt cut it from what I've seen/heard). BMs...fine the way they are. Comparing my personal experience, tideborns arent really that oped tbh. I mean I've seen a wizzy do more then a psychic (few exceptions ofc). Sins can actually suck as well lol but the csed ones.....my damage log doesnt register the 50 hits i take rofl. Just my thoughts.

its hard already when sins 2spark+windshield in stealth hit you 3times already before your display even shows it
but for a mediocre geared caster to survive a 1on1 against a skilled sin is practically impossible...

Sad that most seem concerned with how skills look as opposed to what they actually do. In the instance of wizards i can say that I would love to have the seal from force of will actually last for 5 seconds such that I can take advantage of the time. The effect seems to kick in before the cast animation is complete making me lose about 1/2 seconds of sealed time. Compare that to a sin who gets the full effect of his seal.

Another issue for me as a wiz is that the hp and mp regens of our auras are pathetic. There is no reason to ever not have stone barrier up. Those two skills need a revamp of some sort e.g. let the water shield have a small % chance to slow chanelling speed of caster and fire shield reduce attack speed of melee.

Emberstorm needs a rework. In light of how awesome psychichs aoes are and that seekers will have an aoe to rival ours perhaps we can do away with the self inflicted damage of emberstorm and just leave us with a semi useful aoe? As it is outside of pro use at lvl 11 on demons as a stun its a waste skill.

Pitfall and Emberstorm. The fish dots makes everyone elses dots look pathetic. How about you throw everyone elses dots a bone pls in the damage department and while you are at it perhaps add a small % chance of crown of flame reducing melee attack spd/chanelling.

Oh man, I would love a graphical rework of the veno skills. EVERY single skill is a swirling puddle of flash, only different colored. The impact animation is the same as well! Boring as ****..

Not to mention the lvl 100 skills suck on them, and their dance emote is the animation venomancers do when casting meta boost/mana one that i can't think of atm.

I also agree with cleric skills having a graphical rework. I mean, the Mystic's AoE heal looks pretty epic. Clerics? Pillars. of light. :( Even one of their aoe buffs ends in pillars of light. >.>

Also, give barbs CUSTOMIZATIONS. Let them wear hair which will change the way their fur looks on their head. Also maybe even introduce true forms in forms of wolves, pandas, and lions. Then revamp their skills' graphical looks, and change their agro mechanisms.

There are many other things on other characters as well that could use a graphical rework on skills, but I listed the ones that came to mind first.

Well I've been gone for quite awhile, so I'm not necessarily up to speed with all the issues. None the less, some issues have been in need of addressing for quite some time now.

Although newer graphics would be cool, I'd much prefer to see some of the gameplay issues addressed. Two that come to mind off the top of my head:

1.Wizards shields (mana/hp regen). Lets face it, although the concept of the shields are nice, the water and fire shields become worthless as far as regen. Personally I'd love to see wizards get a much bigger mana regen at the very least.

    2. Barbarian aggro. With the advancements in dps potential accross the classes, barbs suffer at end game trying to do the one thing (PvE speaking) they should excel at. I don't expect barbs to switch to fist build to try to keep up with dps, but their skills like flesh ream should do a much better job at holding aggro against these 5 aps dd's an such. It's no wonder why not so many people want to play barbs anymore. They're very expensive to gear and maintain, and when they get into end game they are often outshined by classes designed for a DD role, and many people would rather have a high aps blade/sin tank so they don't have to hold back, then to recruit a barb to tank for them : \

Bleack while I'm like so fine with veno skill effects veno skills graphics need tweeking...... I mean come on we throw the same move just a mildly different color for all but Nova and gas and gas comes real close. We also have the same casting animation oh god shes holding hands up in the air she could be casting anything except nova which is a nice animation don't change that one a bit. Lol, I didn't mean replace the old animations with TB ones b:chuckle that wouldn't look right at all.

But if you are used to playing a TB then go and spend an extended period of time on an older class, its weird..but the older classes are so stiff. Where the TB movements are more fluid. I was suggesting they update the older classes to have the same quality as the TB movements.

People really pay attention to the animations after like level 40 or so?

If anything, the imbalance between the classes needs more fixing than the animations. Melee classes are being replaced by Assassins. And now the magic classes are in danger with the upcoming expansion. I think when ANY class is being replaced with another, something is wrong.

Of course, with all the nice goodies in CS and kiddies whose parents don't keep track of their kids' internet activities, why fix anything!
